I watch the video and I see three really good archers having fun. I read the comments and I see all these pointless comments. These archers are great at the sport because they're very aware of what they are doing. Does anyone know what is going to happen if they have a few bare bow practices? They may begin to shoot better than everyone else on the youtube comments who claim to be better than them. I know I have offended someone somewhere very much so allow me the pleasure of adding a little more to it. Archery is about technique and developing that technique. It's about form and referencing the aspects of that form which consistently reproduce results. These world class archers understand the dynamics of this far more than anyone on youtube who claims to be better than them. They have learned to applied this concept to the sport of target archery and has continued to do the same. As such, many of you will be very displeased to see they kind of progress any of these guys would have if they applied the very methods of learning to shoot a recurve bow to instinctive archery. Please be informed that I will not be replying to the misinformed. Have a nice day and do remember that the chances of your insults actually getting a trace of attention from these three archers in this video are slim to none.

I think it's always good to try mixing it up a little, I have to admit, my bow felt all wrong without all the bits on, no balance, the way it felt on release/loose, I was glad to get all the bits back on. Also at the WA1440 shoot, there were barebow archers shooting the same round and doing well, takes some skill to shoot a barebow at a target 90m away and hit gold.

Im just starting archery and have yet to do a competition and I was just curious: do u need to stabilizers and sights to compete? are back quivers illegal? whats the standard target distance (or does it vary?) what happens if u drop an arrow during competition? and how many arrows x rounds are there? 144? 12x12?
@NUSensei7 жыл бұрын
1) Sights and stabs are not required. They are permitted in the open freestyle classification (which is what the recurve classification is by default). There are barebow classifications. 2) Back quivers are not illegal in the rules. They tend to be less practical in competition. 3) For the Olympic round, 70m on a 122cm face is the standard. Local competition rounds will vary. 4) There is a 3m line in front of the shooting line. An arrow that falls in front of this line is not considered "shot". 5) Depends on the round. The standard ranking round for the knockout format is a 72-arrow round, which then proceeds to the 1v1 set point system. Again, local competitions will have different formats.

I am a barebow archer, and I guarantee you that it is not so easy as it looks. I've seen some olympic archer trying to shot as I do (I shot 3d, thus at variable distances between 5 and 55 meters), and they struggle in hitting the animal, not only in doing an heart or lung shot. Hit the target it's easy if you are used to shot in that way. If you change your shooting method is not so easy. If you do not have the reference points to gap, or the reference points on the string to crawl, maybe at 30m you will hit the target, but hit the gold is another story.

Thats the hard thing for sight shooters: they can't just switch to instinctive in a heartbeat. It takes a lot of effort, experience and time to become a good instinctive archer whereas with a sight you can become really good really fast if you train a lot. I know 18 year old sight shooters that shoot for 4 years and are already better than many guys that shoot for 10+ years, just because they train a lot more. Instinctive shooting comes with time and experience and it progresses a lot slower than shooting with a sight. despite that, it is a style not really meant for target/tournament archery.

Clearly you know very little about archery if you think 12 in a minute at such a close distance as 30 yards would be something special. These blokes are Olympic archers and that is amateur status. Only professionals get paid to shoot, in case you didn't know. It does raise the question of how dumb we might have to be to not just maintain a consistent form (which they did not) and just quickly register the first arrow and then adjust as necessary. Clearly the American, coming from a country where bowhunting is quite common and is even on TV, had a slight advantage. A Korean Olympic archery coach, when asked the reason for his nation's success once said that whereas the Western philosophy was to build a better bow, the Korean philosophy was to build a better archer. :-)

I'm going to have to agree with Rod. This was pretty pathetic. I'm nailing tennis balls at 40 yards shooting off hand, 541gr arrows from my 45lb recurve. ~180fps. And I'm just a really casual bow hunter. Not a professional like these guys.

Muz Solutions theyre professionals with an olympic recurve, they practice almost exclusively with olympic recurves. you cant expect them to js pick up a different discipline without any practice

What a pitty that there are no olympic bow games with trad bows. I mean compound and take downs without stabilizer and sights. I know there are a lot of archers who shoot traditional for example 3d tournaments. Its nothing against all those technical helpers but there are no reasons why there are no games made for traditional bow shooters.

@samw49247 жыл бұрын
That's hard at that close range. with the bows they use. cause at that short a distance, your aiming on the ground in front of the target. which seems very weird when you try it. I shoot a 32 pound recurve and can reach 70m barebow (not accurately) and then I'm only just aiming on the target.

I shoot in American 900 tournaments, bare bow division ie no sites, stabilizers or mechanical releases. Thirty arrows are shot at 40yds, thirty at 50 yds and thirty at 60 yds. Out of a possible 900 points I've scored close to 699 in practice and 660 in competition and still lost.Real archery

Does anyone seriously think Olympic archers who shoot hundreds of arrows a day, have physical training programmes and undergo science based form and coaching from proven experts are crappy archers who are only good because they have a sight and a clicker.

You must have some misconceptions about Olympic archery, they actually don't use guided arrows, nor can the stuff on the bow steer the arrow in mid-air.

@xXTheBl4ckC4tXx2 жыл бұрын
The challenge is to completely change what you are used to and as many arrows in 20 seconds as possible, also something they never do. That is like giving a cook a machete to cut and tell him to cook everything four times faster. The food will be bad.

There used to a different style and it’s a speed contest, lets see you use all the equipment with no practice and shoot at 70 yards
@pleaseenteraname43984 жыл бұрын
Consistency is key, it’s hard to believe people that actually shoot at 77 yards got a 3 foot group at 30.
@pleaseenteraname43984 жыл бұрын
They are even string hopping so the tip of their arrow can be used basically as a sight. I really doubt those were real Olympic style archers that have almost perfect form and consistency that can shoot at 77yards.
@pleaseenteraname43984 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I cannot tell you weather or not I can shoot at 77 yards as quite pathetically I’ve only shot far enough to not be able to see the target as it is blocked by my grip/hand. But yeah, I am just a random dumbass that knows nothing about distance shooting despite having a better group while aiming at a 35 degree angle.
@greenhoodedvigilante4584 жыл бұрын
It was basically a speed shooting challenge, as many arrows they can shoot in 20 seconds. They didn’t even try to aim or anchor properly.
