@gregkral44674 жыл бұрын
Dude, you are so right on the zen in archery, something you can make for nothing. And what a sense of satisfaction to see a perfect straight tracer of the nock hitting exactly where ya want. Is nothing like it. I never wanted a gun, never had one, traded some crap for a very old used bow.... and fell in love. Made my own arrows from goose feather and dowling rod.... those were the best and most accurate I ever had, even at 70lb draw. When all my aluminum ones missed the gopher, I pull out the last the Black arrow, like what hit smaug .... it never seemed to miss..... but then again, the aluminum ones used to get bent every now and then, but mine.... stayed perfect ..... Archery is a lifelong love. even if ya don't hunt, or fish with them.... so satisfying.

Years ago my dad was 2nd place archer in his age group for the state of Florida. He still goes to the archery shoots for fun and he takes my kids. They are pretty good too. My dads shoulder prevents him from being able to shoot as much as he likes but he loves to take my kids to the shoots because he feels proud when everybody brags on them. In my area everybody knew my dad as the guy (we lived on a local cut off road) who stands in the middle of the street with his bow in his hand (and his 9mm on his hip) and shoots at his target at the back of our fence. Everybody knows my dad.
@PaulLemars015 жыл бұрын
Archery can be really expensive at elite levels but you can easily get started with about a $300 budget. Also the great thing is you can practice most anywhere because it's stealth. It's also a useful skill if you need to procure dinner, just unscrew the target tips and screw in the broads. Go stabby stabby on Bambi.

As an Alberta Hunter's Ed Archery Instructor, that is one thing that pumps us all up, Archery is for Everybody, including folks in wheelchairs. Nothing more fun than seeing a kids face when they hit the yellow. nothing more satisfying than seeing that flourescent nock make a perfect arch to the gopher's head at 40yds, or a bullseye... something so darn satisfying about it. And you can always make your own gear. In Medieval England, it was the law that after church everybody was to practice archery and have tournements and contests, that way, if you were invaded, everyone had the skill to fight in a useful way.

Gotta stop you right there. An archer who uses a old school long bow will be jacked, especially their back. Some of those bows had 200lb draw strength. Lars is certainly skilled, but is mostly a joke. His bow has a draw strength of like 20 pounds. Sure, he can shoot fast and hit small things out of the air, but shooting like that he could never kill anything. The arrow wouldn't penetrate.
