King is I think the greatest monster art in all of yugioh. He's not flashy, he's not covered in useless buckles and orbs and spikes, he's just very clearly a skull servant but drawn with such aura and intensity that you can feel just by looking at him that he is the king.

It was printed in the Light of Destruction retrain set, he is wearing Jain's armor, Skull Dog Marron is with him wearing Ryko's gear, and the effect is on theme. It. Was. Right. There.

I love how the Skull Servant's lore starts serious with the implication that he is an undead who was raised during the power struggle between *The Dark King of The Abyss* and *Ha Des* , but his later appearances depict him and the rest of the Wights as just the Addams family, but with their supernatural undertones being *overtones* TL;DR our boy is just out here living his best life and you have to respect it.

I honestly really like the name "King of the Skull Servants" specifically because of the way the name implies some sort of weakness, but you look at the card art and the numbers it can get to and you almost kind of have to respect it. The name is very fitting for what quite literally has been an underdog archetype for nearly its entire existence, since if you don't respect what it took for him to "become King", you're probably going to wake up to a 20k punch to the face.

Well, the thing with 'Archfiend', is they're not intentional, at least most. 'Wight'/'Skull Servants' are made for Skull Servant decks Archfiend is just the TCG's censorship of 'demon', which is a generic term like 'Angel' or 'Magician' While some are designed to work with each other, most are just someone wanted to use the word 'demon'/the card is based off a demon, and they had no thought about pre-existing Demon cards.

The true power of Lady in Wight is when people don't read. I've won loads of games in Master Duel against people throwing by trying to target my King while she's on the field. It's really easy to get her on the field too, with all the search power the deck has it's pretty trivial to get a Wightmare to pull her out after banishing her for Wightprince's effect. I've even gotten mileage out of her battle protection against non-readers if I end up with a meh mill and a low powered King on the field. Skull Servants is a really fun deck, and the mirror is intense :P

*puts on nerdy exposition hat* The idea of a king being a servant actually has some history behind it, mostly involving Frederick the Great of Prussia. Notoriously irreligious and enamored of Enlightenment thought, he justified his rule not on the basis of divine right-the idea that monarchs drew their authority from God-but on the idea that the king was the foremost servant of the Prussian state. This didn't change much in how Freddy ran his kingdom; he still held absolute power within his borders like many of his contemporaries, and his successors would often revert back to more traditional methods of legitimizing their rule. Nevertheless, it was one of the first times in modern history that an autocrat placed the state above themselves, basically the opposite of Louis XIV's famous view of "I *am* the state". So in that sense, perhaps the King of the Skull Servants is the ultimate servant of his state and people. The power he draws comes from their efforts and sacrifices. When his bony fist connects with your face, it bears the weight of the entire Skull Servant nation. (Also, a wight is a kind of malevolent undead. I wasn't sure if you knew that so feel free to laugh at me if you did.)

Not only are her Servants not affected by Spell and Traps, they're also not affected by everything, because the way the card is worded in English specifies "effects" which in this card's grammarical context broadly means everything that has an effect in the game. But what do I know? I'm a monolingual who couldn't even pass a college English class due to not being able to figure out Words Cited's pattern. I flunked my own language.

@@ShadowsWrath4 Yugioh uses it's own grammar for whatever reason, which is intrinsic to PSCT and part of what makes cards unintuitive at first until you learn how to read them. "Unaffected by Spell/Trap Cards and effects" is not "unaffected by Spell/Trap Cards, also unaffected by effects", it is to be unaffected by Spell/Trap Cards AND their effects. It's like this presumably because of weirdness elsewhere, like how activating a trap effect from grave is "using a trap effect" but is not "activating a trap card". Even Vennominaga the oldest tower reads "unaffected by other cards and their effects", so there's a distinction being made between being affected by a card and being affected by that card's effects.

Skull Servant is always going to be one of my favorite group of cards in the game. Absolutely hilarious side cards, a comically dumb and ineffectual but beyond satisfying game plan of Hit With Big Number (via Little Number), and does so in a way that does basically nothing to actually challenge the opponent's game plan except for how big *their* numbers are. I can only hope they get a real support card that searches a Wight so they can have full citizenship. If Inmato deserves it, so does Skull Servant.

When Ween, the Spirit of Treats got released in Master Duel, I took another look at Skull Servants because they're really good at putting zombies in that grave. And then I kinda fell in love with it. I find interesting that such a simple design, concept and gameplan as skull servants/wights is so popular, so much so that they got to rush duels not so long ago, but not enough to give them more than 1 card at a time (at least in the master rules, in Rush at least they got 2, let's see if they also do 1 every time they remember they existed). But in the matter of rush, I don't know how competitive the zombie type is, but I find funny that the King of Skull servants has direct competition with Shadow Ghoul (of all cards that could exists) as a big chungus beater.
