I met Horace Parlan in Copenhagen and had breakfast with him on one of the greatest mornings of my life.

Archie had a painful mouth injury that dogged him for years his constant embouchure adjustments affected his tone and phrasing but he made it through and recovered his tone and made a string of classic albums I saw him in the mid 2000s and his tone and playing were stunningly beautiful this cat has 9 lives....

Amazing on so may levels. Horace Parlan's ( a true original with only one real useful hand ) playing is sublime and Archie Shepp's embouchure is bizarre in the extreme and fluent French ??? What's not ta like..

It's a concert at New Morning Festival in Geneva not to be confused with New Morning Club which is in Paris, France. Wayne Dockery is on bass and Steve McCraven is on drums.
