I think people forget Archie luxury is a character, in the real world buy what you can afford and enjoy it, Here's a few rules you should stick by don't buy a homage (most of us have been there and done that and it doesn't fill the void you will still want the real thing and at the end of the day it's pretending to be something it's not), there's no such thing as luxury tiers, it's a marketing scam, there is no such thing as entry level luxury, Stay with watch making brands, don't buy fashion brands, they dont make watches they are Chinese crap Don't buy what you can't afford/ but don't settle for what you don't want, if you want a Rolex or an omega, save up Lastly, very few people actually care about what watch your wearing.

Damn bro.. where was this when I needed it? Your advice is golden. At one point I realized because of reasons listed above had to put my whole 10 or so piece watch collection on work duty and giveaways😐 -I spent $400-500😱 before slowly but surely found I was collecting the wrong watches but, did learn a ton. The thing I'd add important thing I'd add to the list is SIZE find yr size and stay within it you'll be happier with yr purchase longer. -🍻🌿💙🇱🇷

Definitely your most valuable video to date Archie. It's like the serious hard-hitting and unexpected ending to Blackadder Goes Forth. Spot on. On a related and ironic point, I'm quite sure most watch lovers started out due to the appeal of how one watch can define the character of a man; Bond etc. or just your old grandfather or father. One watch. Always one watch men. The secret and ironic envy of watch collectors.

Anønymøus Víds then you buy shitters all under $1,000 usd after you purchase your two grail pieces. And you buy them all over time. You don’t go buy a planet ocean and then 6 months later a speedy, and then a year after that a sub. It has nothing to do with an addiction or boredom, it’s being cavalier with your finances.
@solidarnosc9663

@@jameslane9267You do realize that not everyone wants the same watches right? My three favorite watches ever made are a certain Seiko, Longines & Breitling. I got an Omega Speedmaster Pro as well but I barely ever wear it. If I want to invest money in something, it isn’t going to be watches. The servicing costs drag down any appreciation. It’s a foolish proposition.

Never buy to numb feelings inside that you can’t handle. Make a plan for your collection, do lots of research and stick to a budget. Also keep a sum available to grab the great deals when they come along. With some experience you can finance future buys that way, even make a living

well I bought Rolex, Tag and Tudor just in one month after buying my first luxury watch which was this Datejust in steel with blue dial. I have loved watches all my life since my childhood, I am 25 years old, working full time but I am a middle class person and I guess I have used a lot of credit to buy these three cuz I was like just wanted them so badly and now after watching your video I think I made a mistake I am going to sell one of them and will just keep two watches and not going to buy anymore watches I need to controll on myself.. that is true. Also watched your other video of "watches is a bad investment"where you said keep only one good watch at a time so I think I will be doing that from now. thanks for the advice !

Sell the Tag asap.. it’s junk. If you want a nice triple threat you can go omega, Breitling & Rolex or add a Longines. Make no mistake, Longines is a phenomenal watch co with incredible heritage. Some of these people have 20 expensive watches and barely ever wear them. It’s a sickness.

ABSOFUCKINLOUTLY RIGHT!!!!!!!!! Loved to wear a watch since i can remember, i have a tendancy of getting swepped away into an addiction BUT recognize it in an early stage and get myself out of it. I am in my early 30's now and recently got a new and steady job with well income. MY FUCKING GOD, for the past few months i have found myslef wasting every goddamn hour of my time in the watch world-KZbin, forums, ebay etc. you know what i mean! and what i learned is that most watch addicts JUST LIKE ANY OTHER ADDICTS! are either in deppression, are tryng to fill their empty holes in life with thousands, TENS OF THOUSANDS of dollars in watches. Since i am not a CEO of a multi million dollar company like my boss that wears rolex's and breitlings (wich i like) and i am just an average guy hanging out with average people doing average things, i have decided to stick with my few high end seikos and Citizens, not the cheap ones and leave the luxury pieces to wealthy people or to morons that buy them but haven't paid off their mortgage yet, drive a used toyota, but think they look cool and respectable in a Rolex. NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FUCK THAT YOUR OMEGA WAS ON THE MOON!! PLUS! the world is pushing us to own more smart things, Japanese watch companies have already started implementing them in their watches, Maybe in 25 years from now you will hand over your "once expensive" Patek to your son and he will tell you "dad, what the hell is this". My advice for newbies: find a watch that you like the looks of for under $1000, make it your multi purpose watch, get a casio digital beater, and get the hell out before the addiction gets you!

It's like any hobby, some people love travel but they need to pace themselves. Some people love fishing ... I'm sure the guy fishing at the local wharf would love to fish offshore sail fish but that's expensive. I love cars so I did a few drive days. I can say great I drove a Ferrari. I know how it feels, what it's like but I don't now need to buy one. With watches, you need just to start with one you really love, buy some books, learn about the history, maybe go to a awatching making class at night and of course, watch Archie Luxury

Pre-owned Rolex datejust for about 3,500 and pre-owned Tudor or Omega diver for about 2,500. Both very decent and luxurious timepieces to have and where, you are set for all kinds of situations, you can sell both for a pretty much what you paid for them pretty quickly. 6 grand is still a lot of money when you think about it and depending on who you are but you set up something like this should be a good place to stop for most of us.

Yes it's true in some way. I've been attracted by watches since I have memory. Those Casios... :) Next week I will be 40 years old and for that occasion I bought my last watch. A rolex no date 114060. My last of 5 luxury watches. (Pilot chrono iwc, ingy 323701, GO panorama date seventies blue and a speedy plexiglass). Every watch has a reason... And I know it's the end. I'm not rich. No credits no money problems. By the way, after watching this video, this is my last post 'cause I'm out of watches. I've got what I want and plenty more. I've also realized that this hobbie can be dangerous. Watches are supposed to be worn. Best wishes to everyone. And
