The line about going with the stream is a reference that Tom already knew his fate, his days where counted. And even if experts wanted him to go to the hospital where he could be supervised, he decided that he would not let his skin cancer stop him from doing what he loved and continued touring whits his band mates even tho they were not pleased and they wanted him to rest. He did his two last shows while he vas very sick and he died 15 months later. Cancer deaseases are unfair and it takes the live of amazing people like this every year. May Tom RIP

The point Alan Watts was making about death is that you WILL die, and there's nothing you can do that will stop it, so why spend your life constantly worrying about it. Go with the stream, it will eventually lead you to the sea, meaning oneness with existence.

These guys very much believed in the power of belief as well and fought to live till the very end. But this song is more about the philosophical dealing with the fact of death, we're all gonna die at some point, it's about accepting life's terms. You can accept that and still fight till the end :)
