Hii, i'm new here! Could you do a video of how you got into architecture school, how it's going, advice for people who want to go into archi school...Because I think i'm going to do that next year but I'm still scared if it's going to be too much work or too stressful and if all nighters will acure often (bc I physically am not capable of doing them lol)

hello!! you will be fine :') it is very rewarding in the end and honestly not too many (if any) all-nighters if you choose to prioritise other things haha but you have to love it otherwise it is quite painful sometimes..

hey, i graduated architecture school 2 years ago. this is just speaking from experience so of course it may not be the same with you :)) sorry it's long. so, to answer your question first: if you're planning to go into arch school, yes, it is going to be hard work, and a lot of it too. in my school, we had deadlines every week. first two years were all manual, so you should look into honing your *hand drawing skills.* always keep in mind that architecture is the one major that's on the fence of art and science, so even if your hands are skilled, there's a lot of other factors that make up a good design. i pulled all-nighters all the time but i'm insomniac so it should've been kind of normal for me, yet i still felt the effects on my body even a year later after graduating. a lot of people romanticize this type of thing but realistically, this is your future, i wouldn't romanticize someone losing health over school. if you still choose arch school, my advice for you is this: be *confident in yourself,* in the sense of work on your projects and defend them, but don't be close-minded and *receive criticism with good attitude.* because you will be criticized, you will be told to redo your work. the key is to persevere and be persistent, annoyingly so. i met with my professors during lecture hours and outside of them too, squeeze their brains like they do yours. and realize that you are a student, you have an-perhaps limited-advantage of designing freely, more than working archs. *do NOT procrastinate, like... ever.* especially subjects outside of studio, those rack up and sneak away precious time you'd need for studio. especially research, just get done with that stuff right away. and *don't miss classes,* this saved me time from having to study for exams later. *participate in as many competitions as possible* *get into summer internships,* not just the compulsory one, this will maximize your opportunity to get a job. the most important thing is as jade lau said in her reply, i do believe *you should love it.* this is the one thing i didn't have, and i suffered a lot for it. i feel, although my skills were "very good," the one thing that separated me from excellence was loving this field. one more thing, *find reliable friends.* they back you up in your weaknesses and vice versa. for example, my friend is adept in mechanical drawings and i specialized in manual ones and research. in my senior project she saved me tons with 3D drawings of my project, and i did her final assignment in a research-based subject. i wish you and fellow archies the best of luck.
