Indian - man of facts, pun, charm,infallible respect for his own country. He counters every argument gracefully as he accepted some of the weaknesses present in his country. I like his use of historical/ geographic/political knowledge to completely Out class the British debater. Only he seemed to be enjoying the debate Pakistan - seemed bit emotional in start when argument made on orthodoxy of Islam but make some good argument against the colonial rule. And in he even recognised the neo colonialism back in 50's. British- she was on backfoot throughout the debate natural for a kingdom shrinking losing territory and her resources in the war. She made some arguments about the 'gift of democracy' bit was completely demolished the Indian guy. He is said it was started in India when Europeans were 'little blue savages'. Phillipines - he was the only one who really addressed the topic of debate fully stating the negatives and positives of prejudice. Through some real life examples he really stood out. He even gave a solution to negative prejudice that is to know about the people emphasize with stand in their shoes to experience what they did that's only way to combat prejudice. Overall this awesome debate is compelling me to see other episodes too even though my exams are just round the corner.

It was clear that she has a very biased and at times narrow-minded perspective, but the Indian representative made very offensive comments about Muslims and the Pakistani made very offensive comments about Hindus. They all had intense and problematic views, even if the British representative had more than the others. It was just impressive to see how real this conversation got, I wasn't making a point about the validity of all of the arguments she or anyone else for that matter made. They're teenagers after all.

But that does not ever mean we don't like people of different culture or we are biased just because some did wrong from a particular community. On the other hand the british system of education of their trained nature is kind of like welcoming gentleman in front, while bitch at the back. And it persists even in modern days too. the debate had 4 participants, it wasn't one between Hindus and Muslims. She also encouraged the Filipino representative to speak. I think it's unfair to draw a simile between her and the people who colonized India. Her involvement also brought together the Indian and Pakistani representatives and gave an insight on how personal involvement can also bring about negative prejudices both of which were equally valuable.

I couldn't agree more with your sentiment! I think our generation was never shown the art of argumentation, using logic and actually listening to the other person. I think we were lead astray with emotion that wasn't fully based in truth. Even though today's issues might be tougher like abortion, euthanesia, global warming, BLM, etc. I still don't think it's a an excuse for us to not love those whom we disagree with.
