Thanks for uploading this! I have the VHS and put various bits of it online in the distant past via the dodgy old capture tech of the day - a Hauppauge PCI WinTV card :-)

Magnificent! I have a question for all of you. Since churches are in a period of decline how are you keeping your choral traditions going, especially in smaller parishes?

I saw the VHS of this in Chester (not Winchester!) Cathedral shop when I was in my teens. Here endeth my regret at not having purchased it then! It was once written of Martin Neary that he brought "concert hall finesse to church music" - this recording provides ample evidence as well as opening a window back to a truly marvellous time in Winchester Cathedral's musical history.

I am delighted the regret hath ended! I think we tend to forget just what a consummate musician was Neary and the Archive has just obtained a tranche of TV broadcasts of Winchester under Neary. A truly golden age.

@@ArchiveofRecordedChurchMusic I've had the pleasure and privilege of performing under Neary's direction, so I would wholeheartedly endorse your "consummate musician" appraisal of him and will look forward to hearing and seeing some of those broadcasts if you are able to share them here in the future.
