Archspire - Join Us Beyond (Full Guitar Cover)

I've been busy with a lot of stuff recently and this song was a huge pain in the ass. My hand always got super fatigued about a little over halfway through the song and it just hurt to play. Plus, some parts of the song were extremely annoying to learn.

those sweeps at the beginning are hard af to get fast...any tips for that yours is very clean and the way you choose to pick it is very interesting, looks like you only pick once at the high E string

I just went back and played that part to see what you mean and yeah I basically only pick once at the high E. On the upsweep I do a pretty hard pull off on the high E and it makes it so I don’t have to put as much effort into actually picking at it. It’s hard to give tips for these kinds of sweeps since I’ve played them in so many different Archspire songs that I’m just able to do it but I’ll try. The key to getting them right is to really focus on the muting more than anything. The sweep pattern itself is really simple and just requires some barring and hammer on/offs but without proper left and right hand muting it will sound like ass

What does your practice routine look like for guitar? I've been playing for around 6 months now and want to play this fast eventually.

I never really did exercises or anything but I just acquired skills over the years by playing songs/portions of songs that I liked. I started with Metallica and eventually moved to melodic death metal, and now I’m here. I can’t say I really “practice”, I just learn songs, but through learning the songs I’m always practicing. Id say just play progressively harder songs and the skills will develop over time. Of course there’s always strict practice regiments available as well though
