Agreed. Johnny Carson and Richard Pryor were masters at their craft. Johnny would "set up the pins' so Richard could "knock them down". All Johnny needed to do was to "prime Richard's motor" every so often, and Pryor would let it rip. Another interesting thing noticed over the years; If you've ever watched the multiple times Pryor was on the Carson Show, Johnny felt he needed to be Richard's "father figure" The chemistry between the two was so innocent. I think Johnny truly felt and loved Richard Pryor that way, and visa-vera. If you ever see Richard Pryor on Letterman, -Pryor looked like he didn't want to be there.

Richard Pryor was truly a pioneer for true grit comedy about real life with no filters. He was a boss and continues to be a legend and inspiration to comics to this day. Anything Carson is hilarious. No other late night Host can come close to him. Can't touch him.

Richard Pryor was not only the funniest comedian ever born, he was so handsome (& humble) too; you can see fame and wealth never went to his head and never changed who he was inside body & soul :)

I've watched a ton of Eddie Murphy interviews and I see so much of Eddie's mannerisms are definitely still ingrained from Richard Pryor. It's eerie in a way.

The Divorce lawyer joke really got to him. I guess when you're at a certain station in life you can laugh about it. (I’m laughing through my tears).

The fact that noone knew Michael Jackson at that time, but Rcihard just described his dance and the moonwalk in the most genious way.

Mike was out before '83. He definitely described it the most accurately and funny 😅😂

Richard was actually practicing his bit on the show. Those jokes are on one of his comedy specials.
