On my mini bike, if the chain doesn't rattle on the rear fender when I go over a bump once in a while it's too tight. LoL Yeah I need to trim the edge of the fender but then I need to come up with a new system. I figured this out by how the bike reacted with the engine forward and back and setting the chain to where some say is good some say is too tight or too loose(of course using common sense on tight and loose). When the chain rattles on the fender now and then the bike reacts and handles the best I have found so far. People said I was nuts since I got this bike "that will be fine don't worry about it", chewin at me implying I was dumb or the bike was junk because I am constantly tweaking or adjusting things. Idk I enjoy the quiet time in the garage working on my bike with some coffee. But from watching people like Jody for years before I even owned one i knew what to look for and what to experiment with to get my stuff performing well, 5 months later I am glad that I was so picky.

Hey! To the person that asked the question about a chain being tight in one spot then loose in others, check your rear sprocket and make sure the two sprockets are married together at the right spot. There is a little notch on each sprocket and those notches need to be bolted next to each other

What if you start off with a 50 tooth going to a twenty tooth on a jackshaft attached to a 50 tooth to a ten tooth??? I guess I'll wait for an answer or I'll find out the hard way. I have a 212 with a 30 series cvt belt drive. I want to change the ten tooth to a 50 tooth to a twenty like I previously described would I increase in torque power and speed times two or am I in wishful thinking 🤔

Hey man I'm gonna start racing at this really short track in roxboro NC on the track we normally race at we have a 17 on the front and a 61-63 in the rear it's a complete built old Honda flathead and we have a 12 in the front and thinking about putting a 70 in the rear what should I do for max speed and/or power???

Don’t know if you will get this 5 years later. My child is running purple plate predator. He is a large 13 year old he is 6’3 and 200 lbs would be better smaller tooth drivers or larger? We generally run short tracks/ bull rings?

For every single (1) rotation of your tires (axel) it takes a little more than 3 rotations of the engine (front sprocket) This gearing would have a high top speed but low accelerating speed and torque.

Right now I have a sweet mini chopper I built has a 14 tooth clutch and a 36 tooth rear sprocket I need a lot more teeth on the rear sprocket I believe maybe a 60 or 70 or in between that I'm not sure what rear sprocket to get with my 208cc engine but just ordered the 14 tooth clutch and 40 chain the bike won't really get going takes off slow does about 40 after a half a mile and then just stays at 40 doesn't peek out will only let me use half throttle anything beyond that it doesn't really react at all

Why the torque converter isnt good for the track is your running your engine max rpm clutches are designed for torque converters are for hills or constantly going below 15 to 20 mph possibly more depending on GEARING if you was on a really curvy road coars track yes i could see using a torque converter and yes they can be pretty good for max rpm speed wise so on. If that makes any sense

Kylee Bates With a clutch you have a 100% engagement torque converter 95% engagement. A clutch allows your engine to spin freely which allows you to rev higher which means more top end speed. I think mid and top end a clutch is the way to go I think you lose hp to your rear tire with a torque converter in your mid and highs. And if you gear it to low your still gonna have slippage with a tvc.

Depends on the level of your build and the shape of the track, but I would start with a 19-20 driver and mid 60's on the axle. Then go from there.

my daughter is running a KT100J and I was looking for ratio ideas which is how I ended up here, now I have so many more questions. You mentioned keeping the engine a minimum distance from the rear axle to keep the weight off the right rear, can you let me know what that minimum distance is, you mentioned all the important reasons why to have a long chain but not too long but not whats ideal so now I am wondering. Also we run a 11 drive onto an 81 driven on a pretty tight track, would i be better off going for more like a 13 drive onto a 96 driven given its a low hp motor or is the gain minimal? Keep up the great videos too
