Thank you, Sir! And thank you for taking the plunge for us viewers! I could tell it was not a game changer by its size and being a swamp cooler. Try to stay cool however!

I remember Swamp Coolers when we lived in Phoenix in 1976, as opposed to regular AC.😊

Thanks. Now I know version 2.0 is no better than the original. When I was driving trucks , the company [ made ] all the drivers purchase one in an attempt to cut down on the fuel costs of idling their trucks . The machine blew cold air for maybe an hour and a half. Then all it did was increase the humidity inside the cab . The first version was pretty much junk , and like you state with Vers. # 2 ; a complete waste of money . Thanks again for your summary on the updated model . 73

Last year I bought two of those bad boys at Home Depot. I was roasting in my top floor apartment in NYC before I got an AC unit and I was hoping those would be enough - short answer - NO! They are not replacements for a real AC unit. They will not cool off a room. They will only make you feel a little cooler if you are right next to it, but you have to keep filling the ice/water every hour or so. It is basically sputtering the water into a fine mist that blows on you and the evaporation makes you feel a little cooler, but it also increases humidity, so if the humidity is already high it really is even less effective. Also some note of caution - the water mist will accumulate on your desk or table and can cause electrical issues if you have outlets below. When I was using them I had to put them in a small aluminum pan (or glass would work) to keep the water spilling all over the place. Are they worth it for $40 - maybe, if an AC is not an option it is better than just a fan. If an AC is an option it is a much better solution especially for cooling off a larger area or a room. I wound up buying a portable AC unit, 8000 BTU to cool off my bedroom for only $250 on Amazon. Works great!

These are being blown out at Home Depot for $10.02. Picked one up, and haven’t tried it. I just started looking at reviews. Heck, even if it doesn’t blow cold air, you can’t beat a $10 bedside/couch side fan…

thanks a lot for biting the bullet my brother bought one when they first came out all I did was laugh at him , he paid full price, yesterday our high temperature in Kingman AZ was 112

I learned very fast when I bought it that’s its pretty much a little personal AC unit if you’re at a desk or on the side of your bed I bought it for $10 so I wasn’t to upset

When we lived in Phoenix in 1976, we had an elderly lady neighbor who told us about sleeping outside at night with a damp towel hung above them to be cooler at night in the old days. 😊

Can't use in Mississippi to humid. Dehumidifier would probably do better job along with AC. A large version is used in open automotive bays here regularly

Hanging a wet towel in your doorway with a fan on it would probably be more effective.

swamp type coolers only work in low humidity environments... with 62% humidity in MN right now that thing would be useless

I just bought one today at HD for $20….ac went out and repairman can’t come out until next week. We live in Fl… this is only to use at bed time as we’re out all day. Hope it makes him comfortable until the real relief comes…if not back to HD

I grew up in the Green Mountains (that'd be Vermont). I recall the only wime the swamp-cooler ever works is 'in a desert' -- Phoenix merchants used lawn sprinklers to cool their product display windows.

This is simple a very small swamp cooler. It mists water vapor into the jet of air before the wet mats. Your wet mats will thaw up in a matter of minutes but you will still feel some cooler air. Works best in low humidity areas. Research swamp coolers for more info on how they work. I have this to use in a very small camper to run during the night with a window open just a bit to offset the humidity that will build up.

Well, it is a small air humidifier...if it is right beside you, it feels cool. No, it DOES NOT cool a room. If you do not want to employ your AC unit (window or central), it will certainly help. I have been using mine in this sweltering heat wave..I am in WV. Yes, it is 100+. So yes, it was worth the $30+ dollars. Also, if you have sinus probs, it helps.

As expected... if you want to do more cool(er) reviews, I'd be super interested in seeing you review the EcoFlow WAVE 2. I'm really curious about that one... wondering if it'd help me out on my boat (if you'll recall, I borrowed some parking space for a few days, so you've seen it... enclosed cabin RV on water, kinda). Good to see you doing well, still enjoy your videos. de KC3PO

These are nothing more than a personal cooler, much like a fan on a pedestal. But they do blow much cooler air than the fan. If you want to cool down a room, you have to go much larger in size and spend about double that price at least. Thanks for the review. How big is the water tank? Is it the usual 300mls. Sorry I only know metric.. i saw another review frim a few months ago and they only pais $40. Damn it, you missed the sale.😢

Never ever be fooled by a SWAMP COOLER. It's concept does work in specific areas and conditions. However South Florida for example has humidity values already high. Swamp Coolers use water evaporation to absorb heat. They cannot work in high humidity. They can work in dry hot climates and depend on the quality and design of the device to work. Most of the swamp coolers are big fans with a curtain that water flows over and evaporates, absorbing heat. Usually have a garden hose attached for self filling. Just remember high humidity and hot to begin with, no works. Dry hot will work.

It didn't exactly pump out that much cool air so I just ended up returning the thing.

Another evaporative cooler, they work but not as well as a portable air conditioner.
