Beautiful video, Jim.! It was great to see Ted engaged as well. We often watch your videos, and we worry about Ted a lot because he struggles to keep up with you. It was great to hear that Ted encountered an Arctic wolf and stood his ground.

Tips for your next adventure; Adding a bit of cold water to your brewed coffee pot will help settle the grounds to the bottom of the pot. If you score your fish fillets in the thickest areas, they will cook at the same rate as the thinner areas. Congrats on this grand adventure and dealing with those mosquitos!
@robertmckean192919 күн бұрын
What an incredible adventure! Really excellent film work as usual. Having spent some time in the outback of AK and considerably more time in wilderness areas of the lower 48, I enjoy being brought along on these adventures! The Arctic lands of this one are especially interesting because the area is so remote! A couple of things: I don't know how you stand the flies and mosquitos! I wore head nets in AK, and they still drove me a bit batty. I'm surprised you don't see and have issues with more bears, grizzlies in particular, especially in areas like the Yukon. Finally, I deeply appreciate your reverence for these special places! They are, indeed, spiritual!!

The big rock was used to keep the caribou meat away from their dogs. Rocks were piled on top of the meat to keep the birds and sun off the meat. My theory anyway. Amazing adventure and video!
@JimBairdAdventurer21 күн бұрын
Ya, a cache. That’s what that cave was and a fox trap on top to lure any curious foxes away from the meat cache. The only thing was that those flat rocks were split into flat pieces and in a circle with a clear entrance way. Maybe they had just placed them all over to the edges of the circle as they’d removed them from the meat last time and split them so they were lighter to carry up, but still flat and not so heavy that they’d squash the meat.

Hey Jim, you and your Bro are a couple of (BAD ASSES). I have 2 questions, after making coffee, do you use the same water bottle for drinking water; and have you ever thought of shooting a Caribou for food? I'm sure you could keep it cold in the river.
@JimBairdAdventurer15 күн бұрын
I typically just wince the water bottle out and use it for drinking water, ya. Typically caribou aren’t in season at this time of year and you would also have to engage the services of a licensed Nunavut outfitter as a non Nunavut resident (even if still a Canadian) and likely would need to be accompanied by a guide by law. The meat would go bad but you could dry it out. Once when in a challenging 35 day trip through Quebec and Labrador we almost had the opportunity to hunt caribou but needed to do it in an outfitters licences Terratory and to engage their services. So, we cold do it while passing though their area on a canoe trip, even if they were nowhere near us and no guide is necessary. We got them to pick us up of the train, stayed at their place, got a shuttle from them, bought food from them etc. before the trip. Then, last min, they couldn’t get the tag because the George River herd was in decline and somehow it didn’t work out. We had to come up with a more food and eat more fish on the trip. We would have smoked all the meat to jerky and kept some choice cuts for the first few days.

The coffee spin technique is nice. Have you tried putting a tablespoon of cold water in your cowboy coffee after it brews a few minutes? The slight change in temperature makes the grinds drop to the bottom really fast.

I've been watching the one video where you and Ted had a bust up over the fire and it was Jim's fire as he lit it and you can clearly see the way Jim had stacked the wood to stop the other logs from rolling off the fire so in ted just wanted a fight! Ted was in the wrong not Jim. And some of the places that you travel to you both should be armed at all times don't let the situation control the pair of you, you never know what is around the next corner a pissed bear or a mad moose. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Tight lines and good times for 2025 and good health for both Ur families.xx

Ya that’s right but it seems sometimes when we argue out there it has to do with us each filming something the way we want it and then the other person is trying to film something themselves and each one gets in the other’s way and messes it up.

Such a weird word, portage It should just be this is where we carry our shit to the next river or lake 😂
@JimBairdAdventurer19 күн бұрын
Probably because it’s actually a French word. The direct translation is “to carry” in the US and some of canada, people use the English pronunciation of the French work portage while most in canada use the French pronunciation of or an attempt at the proper French pronunciation like is commonly used in non French speaking parts of canada.
