Alex’s piano playing is gorgeous his vocals are seductive, the guitar and bass have some extraordinary Licks and melodies. As a whole the album is a very eclectic sound that is part lounge part futuristic space acid trip. And for those reasons I have a deep fondness for album as a whole.

I don't know what songs Simon has heard from Arctic Monkeys but I personally prefer AM's first album over everything else they have done. Listen to songs like Mardy Bum, From the Ritz to the Rubble, the View from the Afternoon and Fake Tales of San Fransisco. But that's just my opinion :)

Yeah they came out with 2 new songs last week Disease and Bad Listener. They're the first metal band I saw live, more of a hip-hop/edm person. Fiancee got me into them. I'd have to agree with you although Aggressive did have a few really good songs.

Mac Demarco: Modern indie rock, but wildly different to previous indie rock. Sort of psychadelic, surfer-type, pop rock. But goes hard in concert strangely, like covers tons of metal, and punk, and puts on a hell of a show. The fans are rabid for him. The Growlers: Indie, California flavoured strange grunge / psychadelic rock. Basically, Indie is taking on a more laid back style while adding some slacker grit nowadays. Also been a bit of a punk revival in terms of Slaves, IDLES, and Sleaford Mods.

i like that your brought up writing like a rapper. Alex Turner has brought up a few times that on that album they were influenced by rappers. so both instrumentally they wanted to be like a rap artist (look at "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?" because "R U Mine?" is more rock), and his writing was more influenced by rap
