I saw your reviews on the 01.21:01 and was happy to find it at my local liquor store. After trying it and being blown away by how yummy it tasted I ended up getting two more bottles. Would have to say it is one of my favourites right now and look forward to seeing what they come up with in the future. This will be a distillery to watch for.

Totally agree. They're making top-tier stuff! 🥃

Past the shoulder I appreciate this more than at first - kinda like a Bowmore meets a Talisker meets a Kilkerran - but with its own added elements. Characterful.

Great fruitiness and oiliness too, I thought. 🥃

This one sounds really interesting. I'm still kicking myself that I randomly happened upon the distillery a few days before they released their first batch. So even though I was there, I didn't get to try anything at all! Will keep an eye out for future releases. Cheers.

Just having my first dram of this. Delicious! Thank you for the recommendation. I love the oily/creaminess. And loved your cameo at the end of the whisky awards! Lol!

Hi Geoff, Just opened it... very nice for a young dram. Spring grass, nice not green. oily feel, Tropical notes .. pineapple then white pepper, light peat. ... I would have thought they would have bumped up the ABV as their IB's are often 50+... Have put 1 away and the first edition. Good score. Great to see the Adelphi boy's doing well.
@Gwhisky3 жыл бұрын
Hah yeah it's a unique profile as far as I'm concerned. Borrows elements from a lot of styles but makes them its own. Big selling point for me is that oiliness though.

Another very fair review. I'm a fan of Ardnamurchan distillery and indeed Adelphi. Not silly prices for Ardnamurchan, either. We had a tasting by their man recently - mostly lovely. One disaster that was undrinkable (and they knew it) - Ardnagherkin. Excellent detail for the nerdy QR reader guy... yup that was me - which field the Barley came from? Check. But just wanted to nerdily point out (split infinitive - can I claim alliance with you AD/01.21:01 gag?) that Tobermory is not the nearest distillery [1:32ish]. I mean, I thought it was. Actually, yes. I agreed with you. Great minds... But pesky Aqvavitae asked the question about its proximity to other distilleries in one of his "very easy" quizzes, and when I answered (smugly) Tobermory, cos I know my Scottish Geography, Geoff, it turned out I wasn't right. Nc'Nean (with its silly apostrophe which Iv'e probably put in the wrong place) is closer, as the crow flies (Roy said). Allegedly. It doesn't matter. You can't taste the nearest distillery in the liquid. Nor does it need to be disclosed on the label. Nor even the QR reader deeper dive... but I thought you might like to know. Apols. TL,DR as Roy says 😴

Thanks Dave! I didn't notice that it was so near to Nc'Nean. I stand corrected! Lol... Ardnagherkin. Cheers! 🥃

Apparently there is a QR code on the back of the bottle that provides a heap of information. Must crack my bottle of this soon…
@Gwhisky3 жыл бұрын
Right, so the info is available to us, but the essentials like NCF and natural colour should be on the label itself.

Would you compare this to say, glencadam 10? Actually it sounds much more complex . Maybe something like kilkerran?
@Gwhisky3 жыл бұрын
It's got element that are reminiscent of Glencadam. Certainly closer to Glencadam than Kilkerran. But overall it borrows from a lot of different flavour profiles from different regions. I tend to prefer this to most Glencadam expressions though, and I really like Glencadam!

@@Gwhisky I have only had the 10. Decent value but somewhat of a simple malt. I’d like to try the 15 sometime. Can only find it online. As far as the 10, I’m glad I tried it. Dont think I’ll be buying another anytime soon. Not bad , just nothing great about it. Not even the price really. Used to be only over a year or so ago, $50 was considered by many, too much for a 10 yr old.
@Gwhisky3 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. I'm a big fan of the 10, but you're right it's simple. I enjoy the floral fruity soft character. This Ardnamurchan does have some floral and fruity elements that are similar, although I'd probably say it's closer to a Talisker than a Glencadam.
@SaltyCuban3 жыл бұрын
@@Gwhisky you know , I said simple but looking back at my tasting notes, I actually picked up a fair amount. But after all tasting notes are done , what matters is the lasting impression a bottle leaves with you. Just didn’t have enough to warrant another purchase. I’d recommend it, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that for same price I’d prefer to get bottles like bunnahabhain 12, Bladnoch 10, Ardbeg 10, Laphroaig 10 , Glenfarclas 12, Craigellachie 13 to name some that imo are better. If I find this Ardbamurchan I’ll get it though.

Has anyone tried the current Ardnamurchan Cask Strength AD/02.22 ?????? I'm hearing good things about this one..............Slainte!

I recently picked up a cask strength Taiwan exclusive. Unpeated and entirely sherry matured. Incredible stuff! Not sure if the widely released cs is comparable, but this brand has put out hit after hit so far imo!

I bought bottle a week ago but not opened yet. I received an email and offer 1 bottle per castomer. £65 and 58.7%. Its only 9000 bottles produced and all them whisky quickly gone so i decided to keep it not open yet. There are still samples of other releases but not this one.

Batch 5 of this bottle is offered to me for $100 usd. Do you think its still worth it for that price or its too much

It's a bit steep, to be honest. Great whisky but it shouldn't be that much.

Is Batch 5 a CS? Not sure what Batch nr is CS i bought for £65. If yes it is aprox $100 so is correct. 🙋♂️

Did you mention the price? I know you said it was reasonable but I may have missed it if it flashed on the screen. I sometimes listen to reviews while driving so I wasn’t watching super closely
@Gwhisky2 жыл бұрын
I didn't mention it because I live in Taiwan, and our prices are usually quite different from the rest of the world. For reference, the standard Ardnamurchan releases sell for roughly $65/€58 here.

Im bought this one in UK online shop for £50 like most of them. Last one release was £45 and CS £65 🙋♂️

Young whiskies can’t certainly punch above their weight when done right! So strange that they didn’t disclose more on the label though.
@Gwhisky3 жыл бұрын
Yeah weird. Most modern distilleries go for transparency right out the gate. Shame we're not seeing that here, although there's a QR link which gives you all the info you need about the bottle. But that seems like an unnecessary extra step.
