I got one of these pumps today and have just tested it. Moved a lot more water than expected. Good video Thanks

A pump, motor or any inductive load should have a blocking diode across them to prevent kickback/flyback voltage from resetting the arduino or damaging the relay

I have that problem, how to solve it?
@davidh8285 Жыл бұрын
There is a blocking diode on the arduino side of the relay and it is opto-isolated. If JV-VCC/VCC jumper is removed, the relay can be completely isolated from the arduino when another power supply is connected to the relay coils. See the relay board wiring diagram available online.

Nice I wanted to try the same thing but didn't know how

Hey! Thank you for sharing this cool project!!! I have a question. I used my computer to put in the code, and hit that "serial monitor" button to get the reading of soil moisture. But how did you manage to make it working without connecting it to the computer?

5:37 into the video, where did that 9V battery come from?
@MegaWowland5 ай бұрын
9v battery to power the Arduino (logic circuit) and AA batteries to power the water pump through the relay

Great video, would you be able to tell me how many moisture sensor can an Arduino can manage? I was thinking of deploying between 50 to 100 sensors on a field.
@mediamisfits3805 Жыл бұрын
I imagine would would need a few Arduinos or none at all. None at all would be better since it would be cheaper and lighter. The Arduino is great for complex logic requirements, but you can do it also without. Diodes and Transistors are our friends: kzbin.info/www/bejne/laKwZKqNl9-aoLc

Why is it decreasing when it touches water? Shouldn't the level of moisture be higher?

Hey! Is is safe for the arduino to just connect it to 9V battery? Isnt there any extra step I need to do? :D

What is your experience with long term reliability of these cheap white water pumps? I have couple and after some days being submerged I can start seeing some rusty spots on one part of the pump.
@Politictrolerandenthusiast5 ай бұрын
I think it's really depend on material. I haven't tried to make it yet

I intend to use solenoid valve along with overhead tank line, instead of these motors. Of course the project specs will change a bit.

Yeah it’s been solid so far

@@smartthingsdiyWhat about the pumps? Are they reliable? I am asking because the seller on aliexpress states that these pumps are not supposed to be submerged and workign for a long time or something like that. So I am very curious to know what is their long term reliability. Thanks!

What you don’t show is how to connect the 4 black wires together so they can be connected to 1 port!?! Breadboard, stripping and wrapping,…?
