What matters most in a man is his love and respect for you and your children, great communication skills, being family oriented, honest, kind, hard working, and financially responsible. None of those things have anything to do with his race. I hope more women will realize that and choose the best man for the job irrespective of his race/ culture.

I think that Nigerian men are worth the hype to me because they are from my culture and what I know. There is a level of security there that you all mentioned such as education and overall the importance of being married and taking care of their woman. In regards to marriage I do not see myself not marrying a Nigerian. I also feel like there is a difference with the way a Nigerian man treats his partner vs Americans. Even those that were born here vs born in Nigeria. But at the same time even being in America I feel as though men who are not black do not approach black women so that is not even an option even if we wanted to date outside our race. Thanks for the interesting video.

Hey! Nothing is wrong with your preference! There is definitely a standard that comes with a Nigerian man but men are men and no one is perfect! I agree, other races don’t approach me at all. Maybe if I did online dating that would be an option.

Umu Ejima! Kedu! Can you as Nigerian Americans do a video on how it is dating Nigerian Americans versus Nigerians from Nigeria. I assume it would be different.

I've always been an equal opportunity dater because I feel that women just need to go where they are celebrated. When you're married, so much of what matters on a daily basis has nothing to do with him being of the same culture or race. You're focused of taking care of your kids, finances, daily routines etc.

I loved this conversation ladies! I'm overseas so unfortunately couldn't watch live. I'm Nigerian American and talk about dating Nigerian men on my podcast: Candles and Shadows. I also just posted my first storytime video on my channel talking about how I met my husband online.

Understand fellas if they looking for you to spend money don’t walk away run away. You can’t not build with women who only care about money.

its not that Nigerian men don't want Nigerian women in America. Nigerian men don't want Americanized Nigerian women because that is not genuine. We want a traditional Nigerian woman not an Americanized Nigerian woman. If you are going to be Americanized and I want an American woman I might as well get me a black American woman. If you stay 100% original to who you are in a foreign land, someone from your culture looking to keep that culture going will want to build with you. I am Nigerian born in America but raised in Nigeria and now that I live in America and I am looking to build my life and legacy I am looking for a traditional Nigerian woman because that is what I understand. I don't resonate with black American culture and others. Yes there are a lot of women from other cultures that are drop dead gorgeous but reality is we have nothing in common. My best advice is hold on to who you are and someone that values that will grab you. when I see a Nigerian trying to form something else or doesn't show qualities of a Nigerian, the first thing that crosses my mind is this person doesn't know themselves or this person is running from themselves and if that is the case what do I look like trying to get involved with that person?

I understand what your saying but no one who is born and raised outside Nigeria can hold on to 100% of culture. Even 50% is high. Being “Americanized” is a survival mechanism and essential. However you can still maintain aspects of the culture. When you say “traditional Nigerian woman” are you providing 100% financially? I ask because the term traditional is used alot but it seems people skip over the meaning when it comes to finances.

@@EJIMANnenaNgozi you do have a point so I would suggest that woman look for an Americanized Nigerian man as well. As far as being traditional, yes I would love to provide 100 percent financially while my wife devotes her time to taking care of the home and kids. That being said money is something that can come and go. People with PHD’s get fired on a daily. Companies go bankrupt on a daily. People with masters out here with no job. I believe to come to conclusion on if a man is traditional from the finance point of view is based on if he has the desire to take care of all the bills when he can afford to even while his woman is working. If the man is working at Best Buy making 60k a year and some woman claims he is not traditional because he can’t cover all the bills, that is wrong because that is based on the condition of how much he can bring in presently. If that same man is the mayor of a state making 300k and still wants his wife to pay half the bill, he for sure ain’t traditional. In that same situation if he goes from working at Best Buy to becoming a mayor, and then ask his wife to stop working because he can handle all the bills he for sure is traditional. It’s also beyond finances. There are other values that make a man traditional. It’s hard to decide if a man is traditional based off money because that comes and goes. For women it’s based off values, character and personality.

Money comes and go but as you mention its more about desire. Many men say their “traditional” but happily do 50/50 with a woman. That can never qualify as traditional. We(men&women) cant only use the word when its convenient or benefits us.
