I wasn’t going to wait in the queue after I dropped off my rider at the terminal since there are 16-20 ahead of me. Took 15 minute restroom break, then only 6-10 cars ahead. I was like oh what the hell, I’m lazy and it’s a nice day I’ll wait.

Great point -- sometimes I need to make a phone call or send some emails or whatever, and the airport queue is a perfect place to do it because I need to take a break anyway, plus at the end of my wait, I've got a decent chance of getting a good fare.

No. I hate that I can't exit the airport que with Uber, I live 10 mins from an airport and always get sucked into the que by accident then have to drive away from it. Airport rides are not worth the time, for many reasons. At least for me. Always get stuck waiting forever for a pickup, hard to get out of the airport and usually ends up being a short ride to some hotel a few miles away. Don't get why anyone would bother sitting in the airport que on purpose.

I never ever wait in the queue its wasting time I'd rather get a short ride and keep going rather than sit and wait, also using the destination mode have never worked for me. Ha I always get short rides from the airport but I don't sweat the small stuff I just keep pushing

Palm Beach is seasonal for LUX. The best rides come from there so if your not working it no great rides. But the app manipulators in PALM BEACH taking all the rides and the rest of the Lux drivers think "no one is taking Lux any more.

I resonate with everything you said except that you get "sucked in" to the airport lot. We always have choice where we drive our car, and if you have enough times you waited in the lot longer than you wanted to, then just drive another direction.

I only sit in the que at Dallas Love Field and usually get a good ride that's going at least 25 to 30 minutes away in any direction. Last Saturday I had 4 airport rides to and from the airport (2 from DFW, going to and leaving and 2 from Love Field, going to and leaving) and all were at least 30 minutes or longer. I never sit at DFW but I usually get great rides from both airports. Dallas/ Fort Worth is great for making money and our surges and prime time can be crazy high at any given time.

Lyft is different than Uber. I don't get enough LUX request to say how it works but they pay sooooo much better than Uber. If LYFT was better I would delete Uber!

As a Lyft driver, I have found that waiting in the que is not worth the time. Everytime I waited in the que, despite being in the front of it, I would constantly see other drivers getting ahead if me.

With the old app I could see the airport queue from a distance. With the new app I have to drive onto the airport property. I'm told this was an "enhancement" because some drivers thought they got that number being five miles out (aren't they precious?). When I could see the queue, I could decide to go to the airport or just keep going. 20 in the queue sometimes resulted in a surge. 60 in the queue was a one hour wait for a $10-$15 ride. No queue visibility, no airport pick ups.

I'm not sure what's happening at the Humphrey terminal (#2), but San Antonio airport now gets $1.50 of my income for a "Rider Fee". While there's no airport sticker to pay for, you could lose quite a hit of money in fees if you work the airport often.

Half an hour..I got stuck at Denver for 3 hours for 1 ride and the airport is 30min from the city so it’s not worth trying to leave if you get drug out here. Really the inconsistent nature of the airport rides make me shy of bothering, but when they are good, they are great.$40-60 in an hour

Get a trip to the airport, you are put straight to the front of the line with Uber AND Lyft. If you’re waiting at the airport, you’re one of the many complaining about not receiving a fare wage and needing benefits and employee status. Stop waiting, keep driving.

I drive exclusively for Lyft, but now that the Power Driver feature is gone, I signed up for Uber and I'm waiting to get cleared. I live near 3 Airports, Both FLL and PBI are about a half hour from me and MIA is about an hour and a half from me. When I drive all day, I'll usually end up in all 3. PBI is almost never worth it, they'll match you with someone on your way out, but the que, even for less than 10 cars can take hours . FLL is worth it if there's less than 70 cars, what's nice is that if you give a short ride, they'll Automatically put you back in the front of the line (the app will tell you if you can get back in and be first). As for MIA, what I used to do is when I would drop someone off near the Airport, I'd drive to the Que and wait in Destination Mode, to get back North. Here in South Florida they won't let you use Destination Mode at the Airport anymore, not sure why. Now what I'll do is just stay in the area until about about 2 hours from quitting time and put it in Destination Mode to get back home.

You mentioned a couple of times that a "half an hour" was a long wait in the airport queue. In my market (Columbus, Ohio), that would be very speedy at most times! It's very common to wait 75-90 minutes in our Uber queue!

@@marylouleeman591 slept like a baby, I can't control what the servers do. They don't care about the driver, I dropped someone off and was the closest so I got the notification. The system paired the client with the closest driver, nothing more.

Great video! Every new driver should watch this. Here are my 2 cents for the ATL airport (busiest airport in the world). It's never worth the wait except late night surge on the weekend (8pm to 12am). Go up to East Point or back into the city unless you get a "pre-match". The wait is almost always over 30 mins in the cue. If you get a ride to Buckhead you may get $12 to $16. That's at least a 20 min ride plus a 30 min wait. $16 in 50 mins is not good. I am in the Chicago area, I use to wait three to four hours at the Ord lot. I am in the select category, never again, just a waste of time. And then you get the little note about what do you think of uber with the faces. Every time I rate them and tell them the problems that us drivers are having, they never respond back, customer service couldn't care less.. What a joke.

here in California..you would have to be a complete novice to be waiting in an airport que . If i leave the airport i will get a ride in just a few minutes and several rides before my turn in the que would come up..!!!!!!! besides that there are places like auto dealerships and kidney dialysis centers giving rides every 10 minutes all day...just outside of the airports...but if you ask the drivers waiting at the airport they are all professional drivers .....L.M.A.O....

Been driving 3+ months.... Here in Denver DIA is far from everything. So far all my trips to the airport have gotten a pickup at the same time except once. Yesterday I took a guy from Downtown to just outside the airport to a hotel. Peak was ending, I wanted a stand and stretch break and I have never tried the queue​. I got there and had 118 drivers ahead of me. Took an hour and 10 minutes to get a pickup. However, it was a 44-mile drive... made $40 plus a $10 tip. Not saying it was worth it nor am I bashing it. Just not sure I want to do it often.

Really? Drove a passenger from KLAS to Casino. 50% more was what my app said. I was in the pink zone during the ride request. After the ride Lyft took $10.04 from me and they gave me $7. Where is the profitable ride? Where is my 50% MORE?

If Lyft charges the passenger $17.00, Here in the Miami area they will take a $3.00 platform fee, (what uber calls a Booking Fee). Additionally they take 25% of the miles and time plus tax. So the passenger paid $17.00, minus around 5 bucks between booking and taxes, then they take out their cut of around $3.00 and that leaves you with just over $7.00.

Newark intl Airport has a ride share hold lot. There are always many cars in the queue. I've been there with 150 to 250 cars waiting in queue. I have a diamond rating and can expect to wait 1.5 hrs to get a ride. I have NJ plates and can take a rider to NY but have to come back to NJ empty. 1/2 the cars in the lot have NY plates and can go to NY and back with riders. There should be no NY cars in the Newark NJ holding lot. Uber allows them to take a large share of rides. Not fair. I won't go to the airport unless I have a rider going there, then I may no longer go to the hold lot. For what, a 1.5 hr wait and a short ride. Not worth it.

NOPE ! Complete waste of time waiting in Q. Waiting 1 to 2 hours for a $10 Or Less ride with No tip.. I Don't think so. Realistically, the only time an airport ride works is an immediate rematch when already dropping off at the airport. Meaning you get a ride as soon as you drop off a ride. Otherwise, personally I turn app off until I get outside of the Q area, then turn back on, and that usually gets a quick, decent ride due to most areas right outside of the airport and the Q is surging.

At palm beach airport a group of lux drivers are taking trips and staying first in line by using off data mode. This means they take a ride it doesn't matter the distance. Drop off the passenger swipe the app then come back to the airport.and turn the data on. They stay first in line all day and other drivers can't get a ride. Uber is not even doing anything about it and don't want to hear it. I don't get it!

called Uber they did not want to hear it. they told me that I had no proof and they could do nothing. I asked to escalate it and they said no one for me to talk to. In the past the drivers that are doing this would cancel short trips with an excuse to the rider and get them to cancel and then hand down the ride. This caused me learn a hack to defend against this so i would stay in first place by disabling GPS in Que and eating a few dollars to save my place. I am not Uber's favorite driver.

this is true! look at the ride details. Uber is making 40-50% of the fair on most rides. In the beginning it was 28% of the fair but with upfront pricing they get to screw you and the passenger..
