What would happen if you turned the thumb knob upside down on the tool? Would it turn the opposite way then or knot? 🤪🙃 🤔🤨🙄😁

Excellent collection you have there especially the early ones. You probably know that Bahco made the Britool wrenches and they operated the opposite way to the standard Bahco. BUT on my desk in front of me are 4x 0669's (4") and a chrome 969 (4" - Made in Stockholm) and that operates the other way to the black 669 models. Also most of the black models are slightly magnetic but not so the chrome one.

I'm.left handed and have 5 bahcos never noticed lol. Best adjustable spanners ever imo.
@HandtoolsMore3 жыл бұрын
There is older Bahcos that are right hand. They have different item numbers and are generally very rare. 971 for example is the reverse version of a 671.

Hi Ben - love your Bahco history tours. Just watched the the left/right review. Sorry to tell you this but I have two model 0671 shifters (8 inch) and one opens one one and the other opens the other! I seem to recall seeing something about being able o buy Bahco shifters in whichever 'format' you wanted. No evidence just my failing memory. I'm in Sydney, Australia. Thanks again for your great clips. John

I have two Bahco adjustable wrenches, both from Volvo toolkits from 1960s and 1970s. They are plain finish but the best working wrenches ever. Since I am left handed I like the action.

Bahco adjustable wrenches sold in the US have the added part number; R US after the model number eg, 8073 R US And are engineered for the the US market to open the same way as Crescent wrenches

Hi Ben Wow, never given this any though or noticed that Bahco’s wrenched are ‘Lefties’ ! So basically pushing up the knurled wheel is clockwise on a different plane so to speak, as in tightening, so yes maybe that’s why I swear more when using a quality wrench (Bahco) because when I think I’m tightening, the Bahco is loosening, all makes sense now, LOL, what an interesting upload Ben, I’ll now have to double check every adjustable I own now so I can sleep tonight😂😂, but I trust you Ben so maybe not........🙏🏴👍👍👍👍👍

I wonder if the direction of the thumbwheel was an original claim in Bahco's patent? The other manufacturers then changed the direction to avoid infringing the patent. Maybe? Does it really matter, though?

Wow I hadn’t thought about that that might make quite a lot of sense what an interesting question? Thanks Spencer

I wonder if you removed thumb wheel and flipped it, would that reverse the direction of the jaw movement? I am trying to think it through in my head, but its late and my brain may not be working at its best.

This video has really confused me as I have a Bahco 10" V-STEEL 972 spanner that is right handed. I had no idea that Bahco's where nearly all left handed until I saw your video so I though my spanner was normal as all spanners I have used have been right handed and this is the only Bahco I have ever used.

i’m guessing they do it just to be different or to be difficult one or the other🤣

Ben, maybe Bahco is doing it the right way and all the other tool companies are backwards! LOL. It looked like the new Snap On you showed has a scale on the jaws. Was it in inches or millimeters? 🤔😉🇺🇸 Roger

John's next question will be, is everybody in England left handed because they drive on the wrong side of the road ? LOL. My second car also a English Ford Anglia had right hand drive. A rare car here in the U.S. I should have kept, but instead I stripped all the parts I could use off of it and then scrapped it. Have a good day Ben.
