It's awesome that Camwood offers that money-back guarantee-you can't beat that. We fully understand how subjective exit velocity can be, which is why we ensure that any reference to exit velo comes directly from real customer testimonials or reviews sent to us (like the one clipped here). As a relatively new company, we're striving to make the best wood bats possible. We truly believe European Beech is the best wood out there due to its unique combination of density, bending strength, and durability. We're just grateful that more people are starting to give it (and us) a chance in such a competitive industry. Thanks, Will, for always being willing to give our bats a shot on your channel!

@@Garrettcubed haha wow egg on our face. You're absolutely right it does say that. That banner has been up since we first launched our KZbin channel years ago, and there's a few incorrect statements on it that no longer align with our messaging. We've fixed it, thanks for pointing that out!
@kylehicks19956 ай бұрын
@@minebaseball If it no longer lines with your messaging, I have to ask why it was still up to begin with. One would think a new company trying to get off the ground would be on that, so there isn't people around saying you're false advertising. The goal for any wood bat maker obviously is to get pros swinging your bat. I wouldn't swing your bat if there was even a potential for concern that your marketing is lying for years to consumers if I were in the MLB.

@@kylehicks1995Perhaps it has just been overlooked because they've been busy sourcing the wood to make the bats, buying replacement parts for the machines that make the bats, making the bats, or busy responding to overly critical people such as yourself who will probably never purchase a bat from them anyways. The fact that they acknowledged the mistake you pointed out and went through the effort to change it shows they're at least willing to listen and make the changes necessary to be a better company.

I’m a custom woodworker. The reason for ash is for the safety of the players. It’s dense with long strand like grain so when it breaks it doesn’t explode. Due to the emerald ash borer blight on ash trees maple, birch, and beach have become popular. Most cooking utensils are make from beach for its durability but when all 3 of these break as they absolutely will, they explode sending very sharp pieces of wood at the infielders. I love your work! Keep it up!

@@luishion if you had were very strong it could.. I’ve actually considered the same thing as ironwood grows on the trail next to my little league I played at. I think you guys should partner with a woodworking channel or bat maker or something and get some bats made out of all kinds of different woods. Walnut, Cherry, Mahogany, idk. Heck, throw in a balsa wood one just for fun. And then compare EVs to see how big the gap between the worst wood and best wood is. Would be really interesting. Cause thing is I feel like there must be a better wood than maple, because there ARE differences. Thats why they dont use hickory anymore, its TOO dense. 700ish g/m³ seems to be the sweet spot, Maple, Ash, Birch, and Beech are are right there, while hickory gets up to 800-900. Bamboo is about 300 for comparison. And then theres the hardness, like how they decide which woods they make flooring out of. Maple and Ash are pretty average, but ebony is like 3x as hard and balsa wood is...well. Balsa wood... And people talk about trying to close the pores, well usually softwood like pine doesn't have any. How does that affect things?

as woodworker and failed baseball player the question of what makes a good baseball bat has always intrigued me. if you look at the Janka hardness scale...Beech is at 1300 (out of 4000), Maple is at 1420... however Hickory like the very old baseball bats are at 1820. That being said..saying a bat is "maple"...doesn't really narrow it down as there are several species at different hardness. As a woodworker/carver I'm always looking for straight super tight grain ..which is really only found in trees that are old growth and have grown up in an old growth forest (so they have to reach high for that "canopy" light and don't grow limbs until they'e gotten sufficient light. However...commercially we don't have a whole lot of old growth forests anymore...and what they are categorizing as "old growth" now is different than what it was when timber barrens started mowing the forests down. So I'm guessing the quality of wood that you are finding now...is probably a lot lower quality in comparison to the trees/lumber that was being used a few decades ago. beech??? they were mainly Hickory (which also was also the preferred for tool/axe handles)..so extremely durable or Ash (1320 Janka). Ash on the other hand has a slight flex..(which is why it's preferred on canoe paddles)... so it's more forgiving than Hickory or Maple. But..when looking for a good wood bat my father said the more growth rings you can count the stronger/better the bat is. I'm guessing that the technology and shape of wood bats have improved in proportionately with the decreasing in the quality of wood that's being sourced to make them. I'm also presuming no bat company is going to use that in their marketing. anyways...I think about this way too much.

They are using European Beech which has a janka hardness of 1450. American Beech is at 1300.

@@afreiden yeah...I was wondering about that too...I think the only caveat is that the bats were shaped differently the handles were thicker and the barrels narrower. So probably wouldn't get the same bat speed at the head. but it'd be nice to check out!

Bat prices are getting out of control. At this rate you'll be paying $400-500 for a "high-end" wood bat in 10 years. That's insane. One bat I don't think baseball bat bros has tried is a Zinger bat. Through some odd chance I secured an off-spec Eric Hosmer Zinger bat about 10 years ago. It was the hottest wood bat I'd swung, and I used Zinger bats ever since. Even Zinger bats have crept up in price, but I'd love to see BBB try some of their wood instead off the typical names.
@nesssixteen61066 ай бұрын
Tbh that's already happening, $400-500 bats do exist. The good thing though is that we have good budget options, and the budget options available to us today are arguably MUCH better than they were 10-15 years ago. When I was in high school I'd have loved to be able to get something like a Stringking for $100. So while you *can* pay hundreds for a bat, there's really no reason to. We live in a golden age of bats compared to what people used to have to deal with.
