@@EmiWi IDK, when balancing effectiveness and the dopamine that comes with all the numbers popping up whenever a bee touches the wall or the hungry, there's not really any other weapons as effective as or more effective than beenades which also specifically provide the same quantity of hits.

When I did my "Double Boss" JMMFTW challenge, I prevented myself from using Beenades because I thought they would be too powerful. When I was struggling and allowed myself to use them, it turned out that they aren't actually that good & they did not deal sufficient DPS for me to win. That's when I realized there are better options.

That last point is the most important imo. You generally don't want to kill the Wall as soon as you can, if you just want to kill the Wall you can do it pre-Skeletron with beenades and a cheesy arena with lots of LoS blocking. But then you're getting thrown into early Hardmode with trash gear. You don't want to kill the Wall until you've got gear capable of dealing with early Hardmode.

You can't beat the game without killing Skeletron anyways, so there's no point in skipping Skeletron to fight the Wall. The Cultists will not spawn post-golem if the old man is still at the dungeon.

I don't think this is too big of a deal tbh, spider gear is relatively easy to get, even with bad gear, and there's also the option of my personal favourite (and imo super underrated) early hardmode weapon, which even shares the same unlock condition as beenades - the blowgun. Grab yourself some crystal shards as soon as hardmode starts (probably only need about 5-7), craft a couple hundred crystal darts, and now you have a wall bouncing, almost homing weapon with solid damage output.

I disagree Personally I'm just not a fan of skipping progression but it's absolutely not a bad idea, sure you could argue you'll go into hard mode with bad gear but realistically it's not that hard to get gear that far surpasses anything you could get pre hardmode Some examples are mining some titanium/adamantite and making a sword/repeater+armor if you don't mind mining extra Cheesing some spiders to make spider armor and staff Going to the hallow and getting the stuff for a crystal storm That covers every class and doesn't even require defeating any difficult enemies and is absolutely doable with pre skeletron gear

I have no doubts that the idea of Beenades being the best option for WoF is a leftover mindset from 1.2, before the Beenade nerf, before Expert Mode, before the Hive Pack was introduced, and before the WoF buff. That being said, Beenades are definitely one of the most easily obtained effective options from that time period and still are a fine option even today, so I can see why the mindset stuck around.

@@kevin-7091 in fairness beenades are good against the wall of flesh just annoying to farm, boc is technically mathematically worse than worm scarf excluding cases where you are a glass canon and a direct damage reduction wont save you where as rolling the dice can sometimes save you, and unless you go hard into defense a subpar tank build just wont cut it in harder difficulties. I would also say summoner despite being my favorite class is the weakest class in the game. a bit of truth to all the statements

It also gives a temporary buff to crits, and confuse nearby non-boss enemies. Lastly, the dodge chance stack with other dodge options, while damage reduction has diminishing return. Summoner currently has significantly higher damage potential than any other class in the game, with correct utilization of whip stacking and defense penetration. Which class is the weakest or strongest is a lot more complex than just a simple ranking, as every class has their own power spike and hiccups across multiple stage of the game. They are not just four linear lines stacking on top of each other

so this brings up a few things i personally as a time waster on terraria with around 13,000 hours, have noticed, Especially in the past 2 or so years that i've been doing a lot of Challenge runs. A lot of those runs are Weapon Restricted runs, where i can only use a set of weapons that are apart of the same Crafting tree for an end game weapon or have a shared mechanic such as inflicting the same debuff, or being obtainable in the same way. So i have had my fair share or thoughts on the way to actually classify weapons, and on Guides in general. So i'm currently primarly a Modded player, but i'll try to talk in more general terms since my thoughs do extend to Vanilla as well though might not specifically be fleashed out for Vanilla as much as for Modded. So to start with i would classify weapons in to 3 categories, being as followes: - Good Weapons (weapons that are Meta or can be used to kill the thing you are trying to kill in a easy fashion while still not being the peak of preformance, but close enough to where a normal player won't notice a differance) - Good Enough Weapons (weapons that can be used to kill the target relatively easily, but are still noticablt worse then the optimal gear in the abovce categori) - Others (pretty much everything else that is just so off tier that it's generally not worth even looking at) With these 3 Categories in mind i try to always recommend the weapons i prefer to use and know to be Good Weapons for the fight, with a sprinkling of a few Good Enough Weapons if they are fun to use, or are a worth while option from an obtaining standpoint, so that i don't make anyone that looks at my guide as away to learn and make progress on there own, i try to give multiple options while providing a setup that Will get you through the task you are doing. My thoughts on the wiki are similar to your's, in that both in the vanilla class setups and on for example Calamity wiki Class setups, the amount of things "recommended" is so large that it's practically usless for some one wanting to learn from the ground up, and might not have extencive knowledge on the items presented. Most people who actually look at the wiki are people that are just starting out and probably don't know about the fact that the fastest and simplest way to get a guide is through YT, or the type of person that have played the game a bit and did use a YT guide or something similar, and are looking for something else to try, but the Class setups page doesn't serve ether of these types of people, since the wiki is just a listing of possiblr options that might or might nor work for your situation. Such as when choosing a weapon to use in early HM not all of the weapons preform as well for each mech for example, as Destroyer needsd AoE or heavy Piercing, where Twins can be done with most of the options, but having strong direct damage is prefered. Lastly Skeletron Prime benefits from ether havinf 2 weapons a piercing for the arms and a direct damage weapon for the skill after, or a mixed weapon with 1 or 2 piercing but not needing massive amounts of it. So just showing a player all the options when not all of them will be as good for some of the bosses as others, makes the players attempts at looking for help through the wiki possibly leave a bad impession and leave them struggleing on there own. Still as you said the wiki team is working on improving the wiki as we Type, so hopefully in time the wiki can be a place for good and easy help for ne players just starting or wanting to expand there play style.

I don't think the beenades have been "the best" for a long time, but they are extremely good at getting new players past the wall better than just about any other weapon in pre-hardmode. They kill the hungry, leeches, and the wall for you so you just have to dodge some lasers and keep running Quick addendum: If you're using melee like a yoyo or night's edge on higher difficulties you should be throwing down beenades when the hungry respawn anyways tbh, thrown weapons aren't a class anymore for a reason: They're meant to supplement your other strategies.

Heya, I'm a huge fan of the three Magic Missile type weapons. Could you compare them to other more popular weapons? I've always found them to be absurdly good, even taking Rainbow Rod up against Plantera and Golem in one playthrough simply because I love the consistency and AoE damage so much. They make short work of Old One's Army and events too, naturally. It's basically like having Snowman Cannon on you post-Skeletron.

I would agree if it werent for the legendary difficulty. In this difficulty you have to damage the wall of flesh while piercing through the hungries, dealing with leeches, and making sure the imps dont screw you with their super buffed fireballs of death. I could not find a weapon that deals with all of those targets at once other than beenades. Since the imps respawn so quickly i dont feel comfortable stopping to shoot the imps as that makes the fight go on for way too long. But the beenades have really good area denial being able to hit every target at once do to the swarm of piercing homing bees covering the screen. Other than that ive never used beenades in my life so id like to know your strategies for this fight so i can avoid farming queen bees forever.

The WoF is just 99% arena preparation. Clear enough buildings to always have a clear shot to the WoF and make a railroad track around 2/3 of a Medium world's length and either Hellwing bow or Demon Scythe will take care of the wall once you get the targeting right. Neither Imps nor the Wall should ever hit you if you're sufficiently above ground.

In legendary mode I haven't bothered with beenades since I cba didn't want to farm the queen for too much.. I did farm her to make the healing tooth necklace though :) Night's edge worked after a few tries! My only issue was not running fast enough at times :D Magniluminescence is a game changer for running fast..

I used beenades to finish the wall off because of the speed problem. I got it low with the Phoenix blaster then ran far away and chucked beenades. It was probably my 15th attempt and it worked very well!

I used beenades for the imps and hellwing bow otherwise. I used the golf cart for mobility against both queen bee and wof. Nights edge worked well against queen bee and with a proper arena farming her wasn’t a problem

On my latest run I discovered the digging molecart... Hands down my favorite way to deal with WoF cause the setup is SO effortless it can be done largely 1handed, yet you don't accidentally get stuck on stuff when you manage your jumps poorly. Zero campfires or whatever, just that rail, some basic potions and a Demon Scythe with a very lucky magic hat/mystic robe/ancient cobalt leggings combo (He even brought the Gray Zapinator and then also an orange one very early on in HM), accessories didn't matter that much, easiest WoF of my life. Drawback is the iron cost, but I'm doing a slow playthrough on a large world anyway, trying to get some missing achievements etc. Didn't end up needing that much track, and you can always have some lava walking at the end. I had also already used tons of iron for iron bricks for my base, so I can see this working out just fine on more minimal runs. (Remember, 1 iron bar = 50 tracks) I recommend mining above your cart in tight sections so you can jump a bit there, also so you don't have to be as precise with the Demon Scythe angle colliding. I stupidly slowed down right at the end instead of just using my mini-map, so he actually managed to hit me for a more substantial amount... once. I think I did get some favorable luck, but if I dodged THIS much, it seems it should be consistent enough. Looking forward to more dodge testing when I farm him a bit! The perfectly straight track worked well with Demon Scythe. I'm normally not a fan of doing bosses with minecarts btw., but for WoF, I feel it didn't really change the fight in a way I felt I was missing out on some action, mostly just a tedium reducer even compared to smoothing it out for lava walking.

Imo beenades are a good sidearm for when the wall of flesh is not hittable/ in a wall, but not the best as a main weapon. (for example at 4:45 you can throw beenades in front of the obsidian houses, while you can't shoot the wof directly) Though there are weapons like the waterbolt that accomplish this but better

I do use Beenades against the wall tp this day but only as a supplement to my main weapon to help get rid of the hungry for easier wall kills. I don't go out of my way to get a ton of beenades either. Just one kill from queen bee is usually enough to do the job to get ne enough for a 1st try wall kill.

I was doing my first summoner only master mode wall of flesh today, and i noticed i would consistantly die in the last stages of the fight. So, I went to the wiki, to see if i was missing anything, and it had a new sub-tab in the class setups, labeling which were actually more effective. Additionally, in the summoner tab, there was a chart for summon mixing, which i was skeptical about, but i saw instant results, killing it before the halfway point of my world. It has been updated.

In my opinion the beenades are still a great option as a supplement of sorts, like, if you play in coop with friends on expert, the loot bags disable the need to grind the queen bee that much if all of your party just dump all of your beenades onto one person, in my playthroughs it was usually a summoner or a melee person, letting them use the nades while other people use their own weapons

You can craft more beenades with beeswax from queen bee. I just finished a master mode playthrough and I killed Queen bee 3 times and all the mats and nades were MORE than enough to fight WoF twice with only beenades.

Honestly, the best use for Beenades dor the wall is the later parts when the wall is moving faster and faster, as you can dodge more effectively if you don't have to worry about hitting stuff

I haven't actually watched your wiki video yet, but I've been following that class setup guide for like a year as I do a long playthrough and it's been immensely useful for me not because I am new to the game, but just because I frequently don't remember what I need to be doing next or what my next weapons and stuff to aim for are 😂 I already know what I like to use and am comfortable with, I just need something to refer to to keep myself on track... finding that guide was a godsend lol

something about the class guide might be that its a slightly wrong description of what it is. I think its a great resource for players who arent familiar with the options you have at any given stage, as it points you towards what you might want to play with first. and as long as you collect all the things, play with them and decide which ones work well when, youre doing it right. personally I love the class guide when playing calamity because theres so much crap im not really familiar with, but you have to be willing to throw out the garbage and not listen to the guide like its gospel. Its a GUIDE, it pushes you in the right direction, instead of walking you through the exact steps you should take

I agree to an extent, but I think they should be more supplemental in that case rather than your primary weapon. Beenades are kind of annoying to farm, and you need to do it over and over if you die, but using them when the fight gets tough so you can DPS and dodge seems perfectly serviceable.

I did a legendary playthrough and even with all the imp banners I still died with the wall under 1000 hp every time. A large reason was because it got way too fast. I couldn't do enough dmg before it caught up. When I finally beat it, I did it by using the Phoenix Blaster till it was pretty low, then ran far away and started chucking beenades backwards. It worked very well. Also the more distance you have the less accurate the eye lasers will be by the time they get to you. Would recommend if you have trouble outpacing the wall.

In my experience, it is still viable! I had just recently beaten the wall of flesh for the first time on master mode using nothing but beenades and the bee gun as well! My only method of buffing potion being the iron skin potion and the medium fed buff from a pumpkin pie. In the last effort, though, as I was running out of beenades, I did use the hive pack which helped significantly! 3:50 This wasn't a problem for me as I had used ice platforms and stone blocks at least a block distance underneath them so that I could keep walking! For some reason [note I am using the mobile edition of terraria I don't own a computer] My Play style is a bit crooked so sometimes when I'm trying to send Some reinforcing damage; I accidentally slide my thumb downward, which causes me to fall through the platforms. So I have a slightly gapped Stone bridge underneath it so that I don't fall right into lava. [The reason i say slightly gapped is because i punched a few holes in so that lava can seep through if any lava slime decided to ruin my day] So even if bees went through garden planters, it wouldn't matter because I wasn't using garden planters anyhow... Also, farming Queen bee was no problem for me Because the wall of flesh was the only boss I needed to beat anyhow. I already had molten armor and I took a lot of advice from the Defense video, so it was very difficult for me to die to Queen bee at all. I had started with like what, 37 summons? It was very quick to defeat and I done it a lot of times it's a very good strategy or pre-hardmode for getting a lot of platinum coins... By the end of it all, I had 792 beenades and had enough bee wax necessary to create 800 more. And about thirty platinum coins, So buying the grenades was not an issue.

I always used beenades to only get rid of hungries. I didn't played ranged much, but I almost always used star cannon, so I didn't wanted to waste stars to knockback hungries in some situations, so I just thrown some nades from 1-2 Qbees and switched to another option. And personally, I believe that this is the bst use for them now, since they are not your main weapon and you don't have to spend a slot for hive pack, and they do just fine against hungries with 1 shark tooth. I use them as other classes too if hungries get too crowded

Bees are one of the things that make me wish there was a Weapon Tier Upgrade system that could upgrade weapons to have competitive numbers with their upgraded counterparts. Maybe not as hard as the Aqua Scepter in don't dig up worlds, which honestly starts feeling like a Moon Lord weapon, but enough that the archetypes that are present in the early game have meaningful presence in the late game. Bees fall off HARD, and some pre-Hardmode weapons don't even have a Hardmode equivalent. Like... the Grenade Launcher drops from Plantera; you could easily craft a Beenade Launcher using Beeswax and then upgrade that to endgame/postgame viability using Chlorophyte or Luminite.

The Hellwing Bow can also still use other arrows too by the way, the bow doesn't override any other arrow beyond wooden arrows, the rest get fired as usual. That said, how much more or less effective is the hellwing bow when used with a stronger arrow, such as Hellfire, Unholy, or Jester arrows?

At least my first few times around, I just defeated WoF with regular Grenades. Underrated weapon honestly. There're obviously way better options for WoF in particular. But at least for me, they kinda trivialize most of prehardmode, and are serviceable against WoF. While also being super easy to get. Very good for exploration as well, especially in underground desert.

@@TheLusion On the outer regions houses don't spawn so I just fight the wall there. If things go well it dies before reaching the houses region. Of course making an arena will help a ton if you're struggling with the boss (I always make one on legendary)

I've started building a queen bee farm in all of my world's using the statue trick you showed. You can kill a queen bee like every three seconds and the spawns are very easy to make. 10 minutes of farming and selling the drops gets you easily 10 plat. So I have a lot of beenades laying around. But I do agree with the point of the video.

I look at it this way: I need to build an arena for Plantera, so instead of waiting for hardmode, I make one right away in pre-hardmode and use it to farm queen bee. I get a lot of beenades (plus the ones I can craft), I use the gold to buy the grenades required and a couple more of other stuff, and then I use all of it to defeat the wall of flesh easily by just spamming the drop button (after building a long dirt road of course). I don't need to worry about the terrain being perfectly leveled and I can use the arena I built to fight plantera later, so I kill to bees in one shot (or birds). The only problem is that yes, you need a lot in master mode, I think I needed 300 or something last time I tried, although I forgot how many exactly. That's the only downside. Still a viable option. I don't care about my WoF arena not being made of pots or whatever because, honestly, it's cheaper and easier for me to just use the dirt I got after digging the hellevator. Surely I will have some clay lying around as well but... I'll probably have way more dirt and stone. So that's also not a problem. Also if I play master mode, I will most likely be using grenades at the beginning so I will most likely have quite a few to upgrade to beenades. In the end, beenades is the META for me, because of the way I play the game.

Even if the beenades aren't great anymore ill usually have a few laying around after a few queen bee fights. Best case scenario is they take out the hungry and get some chip damage or to get that final bit of health down from the wall when it starts to speed up and getting close with melee isn't as safe. I think they get their job as support done well enough

I still use beenades if I have them on ranger runs to this day for wall, but I can’t really see myself using them for the whole fight. However I will say that in my experience they tend to deal with the hungry fairly well, though I’m sure there’s better options for that too - hellwing bow especially, given its piercing and ease of obtaining ammo.

I used beenades on the Wall as like a secondary thing, id throw a few when the terrain wasn't ideal for the Phoenix Blaster or whatever weapons I had (aka no line of sight but terrain worked fine for the bees). My dps would stay pretty consistent so the pressure that the fight exerts upon me, especially when im not attacking, decreased a lot. I never used Only Beenades since I found grinding Queen Bee to be hella annoying and time consuming, and I hate consumeables in general.

Regarding Star Cannon and Night's Edge, Star Cannon not only is hell to grind the ammo for, I think it's also kinda OP on purpose. Like the weapon you use as a last resort when you are truly, truly stuck. New Night's Edge, on the other hand, is just OP lmao. It's very fun, but god do I feel like a cheater for using it.

3:45 if you use beenades as a supporting weapon instead of actual damage, you can simply use platforms, and occasionally throw beenades at buildings for some good burst. If you use it like that, which is how you are supposed to use it and how most people use it, you only need around 30-40 nades which is only a couple bee kills

The Night's Edge manhandles the Wall by itself even without the funnel, you're just wasting time and taking unnecessary risks by swapping to Beenades. Just use minions it you want bonus damage as a melee player.

They're good because you don't need to aim while still doing good damage, and they can be obtained before most bosses if needed It's pretty much a Pre-hardmode Daedalus Stormbow, which can be used from Skeletron to Queen Slime Similar to how the Daedalus Stormbow is used for the mechanical bosses and Plantera, despite not being the optimal weapon Both are good enough, and extremely easy to use, so losing against the boss is harder as you can focus more on dodging

The class setups guide is uninformative but I find it useful to get a picture of what's available at the stage I'm at. Mainly this because a weapon like the Shadowflame Voodoo Doll is not typically good for progression against bosses, but it's much better at defeating the multiple early hardmode invasions or hardmode blood moon.

I usually suggest the Phoenix Blaster because it's consistent and easy to use, plus it's incredibly cheap to make and fuel it with ammo. Sure the Star Cannon has the highest potential, but fueling stars to it is something that the average player probably isn't going to want to do, and thus I don't consider it the "best" option because the ammo is inefficient unless you build a star farm. There's an argument that "efficiency" shouldn't be considered when trying to figure out what's better but I think it's a fickle argument that makes no sense because if you have to build some large farms and wait multiple hours to get somewhere when you can just do none of that instead and take maybe 20 minutes, is it really worth the effort?

I think beenades are pretty good if you use them with other weapons I used one QB worth of beenades with a Phoenix blaster after throwing them and killed the wall in about 15 seconds on classic. I'm sure they're not as good on higher difficulties but they work well in conjunction with other weapons
