All you need is 1 brokerage STRICTLY for owner operators. With all exposure to rates and rate cons from shippers. Not gonna happen at this point though. Everyone wants different things

I think that the most important step would be full transparency. Seeing what the brokers are charging the shippers will allow us the carriers to make the right decisions on which brokers to work with

This is stipulated under section 49 C.F.R. where rates are a matter of public information. Ask your broker the rate he charged the shipper. By law broker has to reveal the rate.

your reaction to that $1300 quote was total unprofessional and it proofs that you are no better than any other ,,Greedy Brokers'' out there. You should have set a precedent and example of Good Broker and pay that Carrier the asking price. And not Price Shame him

I am not a broker. I don't take loads from shippers and turn them around for profit. This is my trailer that needs to be brought back and I am at 100% loss no matter what I pay to someone. The going rate for a full load right now is $800. Load-out trailers are free to use or they pay at most $200. This is a load-out trailer. No rent, no maintenance, nothing. This guy did not just want a current rate for a load, he did not want a rate for a loaded trailer (which is even lower). He did not want a load-out trailer (for which I shouldn't be paying anything at all) He wanted over $1000 more than what this is worth. Next time you want to set a precedent, pay more for your utility bill, your mechanic, or any other services you are using. I will shame this guy all day long because he is trying to make quick bucks on someone else's misfortune.
