@andydrew33202 жыл бұрын
A tip for dispatchers when dealing with brokers is to get the brokers name/number and call them back after discussing details with the driver. Especially when you as a dispatcher is making the call about a load. There’s nothing worse than someone calling about your load, explaining the details to you, and them putting you on hold for 5- 7 minutes just to either hang up on you or to say sorry the driver doesn’t want it (Click). Out of respect just grab the name and number and say hey bud give me 5 minutes I’ll hit you back ASAP. That way you’re not wasting someone’s time and that way you also have time to be thorough as to not rush the call because you’ve got someone on hold.
@ZtikMan Жыл бұрын
I felt that would’ve been helpful as well. “Let me call back after I speak to the driver before I accept real quick, is that okay?” Would be perfect

@jareds48392 жыл бұрын
As a broker that does 80-100 loads a week- I appreciate carriers being honest and letting me know immediately of truck issues or whatever the reason is as to why they can't commit to the load after agreeing to it. As long as I have enough time to recover a load- I understand fallouts happen and its not a big deal. But I've caught plenty of carriers just outright lying and making excuses and sometimes you fall into that assumption that all carriers are lying when they cancel. I try not to do that. Its when carriers fall out last minute and don't tell us for hours etc and get caught up in lies that I get upset. Always gonna run into shitty brokers tho that get mad over everything. Great work!

Thank you very much for this comment. When I started as a dispatcher, I was a part of 6 people team of dispatchers and the "culture" was to say anything as long as we can make money. After very short while I realized that that is not me and that is not a way to succeed in any kind of business. There are a lot of trucking companies there who are being bad players, as well as brokers too. I choose not to be like that and to say the truth no matter what. Thanks for watching!!

I've taken loads for a place that distributes groceries to much smaller older grocery stores throughout the Appalachian south eastern US. Most if their drivers and deliveries are done by daycabs. I've ended up in some places trying to back in with a Sleeper and 53' reefer and could barely fit, but luckily enough I was able to make it work. It's nice to see a dispatcher that takes into consideration the area the load is going to rather than grabbing the load and not telling the driver. Any good driver though would ask for an address, look it up and confirm the location on Google maps satellite before accepting the load. Wrong addresses and space are often a large factor for some larger rigs. Anyways, thanks for the video. It's nice to be able to see what's happening from the dispatchers perspective.
@NeverStopTRK2 жыл бұрын
I usually ask for delivery address or name of a company only in case there is something off with the load before I book it. Also, sometimes I would check the address after I receive the rate con. But you are absolutely correct, it would be perfect if we would ask for that every time. A lot of times, brokers are busy and by the time we ask for all those details the load might be gone so if I feel like there is not much time left, I would take it and worry about the address later. Thanks for watching.
@saidjama7541 Жыл бұрын
Anis your the most honest person i have ever seen in this business, the other question that i have is, what's the best load board to use for straight trucks or semi. I would appreciate your immediate response and keep up the good work. THANKS.
@ai89072 жыл бұрын
I used to do this for my father who was an owner operator when I was 16. Booked loads, filled papers and sent the Docs to the factoring company as well. Really easy work for those trying to get into it. The hardest part I would say is negotiating the rate of the load. Sometimes you get the piss companies you negotiate with 1 pick up and 1 drop load and then the confirmation they send has multiple pickups/drops *cough*, XPO *cough*.
@JohnTheMexicanic2 жыл бұрын
XPO has been pretty good to me. Usually if I see something different on the rate con I make sure to call back the broker and if the broker doesn't wana solve the issue then I let the driver know what's going on. If the driver agrees to still pick up the load then that's on him. Negotiating rates is easy. Have a rate in mind and stay with that rate, maybe go $100 less once you see that nothing good is coming out or it's getting late. Brokers usually call back offering me the $1200 I asked for when I already booked the driver lol.

Hello
@JohnTheMexicanic2 жыл бұрын
I've been working for my dad for a year now as his dispatcher and man at the beginning it was crazy, I wouldn't know what rate to offer what to ask regarding the load it was just hectic. I was looking at the invoices that I billed the first month and we were getting paid $900 for a 356 mile run and now we get paid $1,200. Now I know my rates, I know what to ask regarding the load, I know how to negotiate rates. If I see the 15 day avg is $1,200 I ask for $1300 so I can get the $1200. Now my dad has a driver and 2 owner ops. I'm looking to become a freight broker too that way I can stop dealing with these dam brokers, some of them are just bad at their job. Had to cancel a load recently due to insufficient information on load. I refuse to load the drivers with a load that has very little information.
@NeverStopTRK2 жыл бұрын
Glad you stuck to the job and figured it out. Word of advice... I tried it as a broker too for a short while and what I found out is that dealing with carriers as a broker is much worse than dealing with brokers as a carrier. :( If you are looking for less stress and less dealing with bad apples, I would stick with being a carrier. Thanks for watching!
@JohnTheMexicanic2 жыл бұрын
@Never Stop Trucking what if I become a broker but only to broker out loads to my dads drivers? Drivers that are leased under his company. It would be a bit better since I personally know them or know their job history right? Also I'd like to contact you directly. OK, the problem there was that this driver likes to go to straight to receiver and be ready to deliver the very first thing in the morning. This loa was 640 miles and that is good 11 hours of driving. Driver already drove about an hour and a half that morning (70 miles) and that would leave him with only 9.5 hours available for that day. So the driver could not have made it to delivery in a straight shot. He would have to stop somewhere, about 70-100 miles away and he would have drive for another couple of hours in the morning to deliver. That way he would loose yet another 2 hours of available hours for next day.

As soon as he opened his mouth i said "This guy is Bosnian for sure" I wasn't wrong.

Usually 5 post its for a future project to get carriers onboard at a cheap rate. Who’s going to get it cheapest and cover the volume. Its baiting. You should look at the pu and delivery address so you know where you are sending them to
