Are cellphone prices lower in Canada than the US or Australia?

I came to Canada from the UK and the cost difference is phenomenal, particularly cell phone plans. It was technically cheaper for my family, including 3 children, to pay for 5x international plans in the UK than take out 5x Fido plans. My plan went up 10% in less than 10 months, from $167.80 to $184.60. There is no competition here, when I walk around the shopping centre EVERY "deal" was exactly the same, to the cent and for data allowance.

Price per Gb is an absolute joke, as they know most customers don't opt for 100Gb plans, so they just lower these only. The 5-20Gb plans are the most common, and they do not come down in price.
