My guitar’s p/u are ceramic P90 and sound beautiful to my taste, it’s to the player to decide what sounds good.

I quite like the ceramic magnet pickups with some distortion I think they sound nice.

Regarding the difference in price per pound: Current Cost of Iron= .04 cents / Current cost of copper =$2.62. Thanks for playing the background music. Sounds great! 👍🏻

Oh wow. No wonder they skimp on copper. I didn’t realise the difference was that great though. There are some corners you can’t cut

I'm hoarding them, so when system collapses...I can charge alnico prices for terribly good ceramics

My compliments Sir !!!! The most important Base Line for any guitar (Alnico or Ceramic) or amp is from the Clean Spectrum !!!!!!

From Leo: I have heard a nice Archtop that sounded great with what turned out to be ceramic pickups. Warm and articulate. I have also heard other ceramic magnet guitars that were harsh and biting. I took the ceramic magnets out of a pair of P-90 pickups and put in Alnico 5. The harsh edge smoothed right out. As a clean player I usually use low output, Alnico II pickups, some guitars have alnico 5. The bottom line is I don't think I can tell anything by the spec sheet, I have to hear them through a good clean amp. I keep or replace them after that.

Both pickups, ceramic or alnico are good. Depends on someone's preference. Indeed alnico will give you clarity for each string you played especially when you play it clean. But if you like slightly fat tone with some muddy or a tiny distorted/overdrived sound, go for ceramic.

I have got to admit. I am a bit new but I got a set that was installed in my classic vibe 60s when I bought it 2 years ago. I now miss them. I've tried all types. Whoever put them in knew something I didn't and or had similar ear. I suppose ...They are mitey mites ceramic cloth wired and the guard has 500k volume pot. Not sure if it's that or what. But they are powerful but surely some of the best ranges of tones I've heard on SSS....They are more so than the stock ceramic classics in my fsr MIM strat. Now I have player series in the classic vibe. I've some old vids of the mitey mites. Might reinstall. Hahahah excellent test man!!! Sounds great!!! Strat sound either way rocks!!!

Some guitars just sound incredible! Did you sell that classic vibe? I’ll have to get a set of mighty mites

The main diffrence with ceramic i feel is when you mute slighty it sounds very hot, as if there is a slight amount of distortion

I have ceramics in my older Yamaha Pacifica, and I wouldn't change them for anything. I get great tone from them. I say it's all in how your amp is set up - if you have more than one amp, set one up for your ceramics and see how that does you.

good video i think ceramic pickups are fine. some of my guitars that have had ceramic pickups in have sounded great to me. of course i have been suckered in to buying alnico pickups yes they have the clarity but loose some of the warmth of ceramic

alnico pickups to me sound less full in a strat. I own 2 with alnico's in one and ceramics in a MIM standard, I like to play blues on the strat and the ceramics are night and day better imo..

Hi, nice test. I have two Japanese Stratocaster from 80s, one has Van Zandt Blues Pickups and It has less volume rather the one with ceramic pickups. They sound different of course. What do you think ? It's quite strange because Van Zandt should sounds louder.
@PherotoneStudios3 жыл бұрын
It all depends on magnet strength and the number of winds of copper but I do love the ceramic pickups from the guitar in the video.

Cheap ceramic pickups are terrible but Leo Fender chose ceramic magnets for his cutting edge MFD pickup at G&L. People love G&L and their MFD pickups. So it's all about proper application. If the pickup is designed well aka not cheap, it will sound good.

A guitar will sound bad if it's in the hands of a bad guitarist, and likewise a guitar will sound good if it's in the hands of a good guitarist. Regardless of the pickups.

No. Thing you write about is how techincally proficient one is, if they can play clean sounds, all that articulation stuff n all. Tone is totally different and dependent on hardware. Don't spread shit myths.
