The primer bulb is not actually a primer bulb. It's a purge bulb. It only purges air from the fuel lines so that the choke can work effectively to pull fuel through the jet.

I just hope they're still working 3 years from now. I always make a point to not use gas with ethanol in it. So I'm sure that will help these things last a little bit longer. Thanks you too sir!!

Carburetors cannot clog themselves. Carburetors cannot adjust themselves if they have manual adjustments. Carburetors cannot install themselves properly. Carburetors cannot maintain themselves. The biggest problem with any carburetor, is the people that put their hands on it.

Its been hit or miss with me . 1 I bought has lasted 5 years and still going . Wish I remembered the seller I bought it from . 1 or 2 have been dead on arrival. Others would work for 2 to 4 months then clogged .

I'll definitely use them again. Anymore with new equipment having Chinese carbs and sometimes engines, it's not really any different. It all comes down to quality control.

I tried one on a stihl trimmer.... never got it tuned right. After six months I gave up. Couldn't get it to run right. Rebuilt the original, runs correct again.

They're definitely not the same quality as the oem components.

Just put one on my Stihl FS86 brushcutter, no problems after idle & H - L adjustments. Was cheaper than Walbro carb kit & fit straight on. Still a bit apprehensive as I read a lot of commentors saying only lasting months before problems arise. Fingers crossed.

@@SkylarHillShop That's my concern. I have no problem purchasing one, but to replace it again in a few months to a year is frustrating.

I bought a cheap carb of ebay. Looked same as original however slide was plastic not metal. Didn't fit it just took bits off I needed. Probably would have run okay but wear really quickly.

I just bought one of these carbs to repair a Poulan chainsaw for a friend's birthday. Thanks for making this video. I just liked and subscribed. I have a channel for repair work too. "Do It Ya Damn Self". Check it out when you get time.

Nope, I should do a follow up. Maybe the one I got was a lemon. But after a few short months I was having issues again. I actually got rid of it.

My experience is they last.. typically 3 months. Then the carbs need to be replaced. Chinese carbs are hit and miss. I just buy OEM. They’re expensive, but so is your time, if you’re constantly replacing it.
@hmdwn
@hmdwn 3 жыл бұрын
@@SkylarHillShop ... if it worked well in the beginning then had issues could debris getting into the carb be the issue? The passage holes in the carb don't change size on their own unless they become blocked. Or possibly the diaphragm metering gaskets are of inferior quality.
@uarbor70
@uarbor70 3 жыл бұрын
@@hmdwn most likely that ethanol fuel is the problem
@SkylarHillShop
@SkylarHillShop 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately ethanol was not the issue in this case. I don't put ethanol in any of my small engines however I do agree it's a horrible fuel.

Definitely worth the money since most carbs are made in China in the first place. Just because they don't have Walbro or Zama stamped on them means absolutely nothing. I've bought dozens of aftermarket carbs and carb kits on eBay or Amazon that were direct replacements for the engine I'm working on. The only thing to be aware of is paying attention to the part numbers and looking at the pictures the seller provides. I did make the mistake of buying one for a 13 h.p. Briggs and didn't look closely at the pictures. I ended up with one that the choke and throttle hookup levers were 180 degrees ass backwards. No big deal though...I ordered the correct one and was only out $8.00 for something I'll eventually use. :-)

Knock-offs don't have the name and quality standards that the OEM require of the manufacturers. Yes, they are all made in China but not all to the OEM standards. The knockoffs you buy are probably the rejects from the OEM made ones.
@apatterson8128
@apatterson8128 2 жыл бұрын
@@georgegoodfred5803 I don't know about the reject part, but you are right , George. The Zama on my Stihl is made in China, but I have to believe since they are putting their name on it that the quality control must be more stringent. Especially since they are considerably more expensive than the knock-offs.
@SkylarHillShop
@SkylarHillShop 2 жыл бұрын
@A Patterson, agreed. I hate to see things made over seas, but Stihl definitely has better quality control than the ebay knock-offs.
