T2 is a really well made movie. It's way more complex and polished than the first one, and it deserves all of the praise it gets, but personally, I prefer the beautiful simplicity of the original. It's a perfectly paced, action packed, balls to the wall sci-fi horror flick. No pretension, no fluff, no bullshit, no apologies, just raw cinematic badassery.

@@system0fadowner251 T1 is a mix of horror,sci fi,film noir,action. Those other ones are action/sci fi. There is a night and day difference between THE TERMINATOR and the rest. T1 didn't have a child or have it's violence toned down to be more family friendly. I first saw TERMINATOR 2 then watched THE TERMINATOR. For historical purposes.... in 1984, only about half the US was using the 911 emergency system. It had been instituted in limited form in 1957 for fire department calls, but was not a widespread thing until later in the 80's. I can't find reference to payphones, but its very possible that since this was not a nationwide thing, that a 911 call might still have required coins.

I think this is better than T2. There's lots of small attention to detail in this film that many people miss. In the car when they're first fleeing the nightclub, Sarah bites Kyle on the hand in an attempt to get away. When Kyle explains cyborgs don't feel pain but he does, you can see blood on Sarah's lips from when she bit him, and a few scenes later, you'll notice a large deep bite mark on Kyle's hand. Later at the Tiki motel, you'll notice Kyle has his hand bandaged from when Sarah bit him.

I used to prefer the extended version more back when I first saw it in 2000 or so but as I've gotten older I actually prefer the theatrical version now. There's not a single scene in the extended version that is pivotal or so important that the film NEEDS it. The EE seems saggy in spots whereas now the theatrical feels tight as a drum. I even realized the chip reset scene is unnecessary. Because the dialogue in the theatrical accomplishes the same thing more efficiently. For example, in the EE the Terminator says that all Terminators are sent out locked into "read only" mode which inhibits thinking or mental growth. In the theatrical, he doesn't say that. He just says that he's a learning computer with the capacity to better mimic and understand human behavior the more he's actually around people. I had a similar revelation with Aliens. Theatrical all the way. The perfect cut of Aliens however would be one that kept the "Ripley's daughter", the "sentry guns" and "Ripley and Hicks finally sharing their names" scenes and left the rest. This is just my opinion though. I don't think the extended versions are bad at all. I just like the editing in the theatricals so much. They feel like they flow better..

Regarding the scene where Arnold is in the room and the janitor asks if he has a dead cat in there, in the original storyline the Terminator had a set of miniature human organs to supply his flesh with blood , including a chicken sized heart. When Reese shot him in the chest it destroyed his heart and from then on he was decomposing. If theyd avoided him long enough his flesh would have rotted away.

Some people wonder why I say watch the theatrical version of Terminator 2. Mainly, it's because if you watch a movie for the first time, I believe it should be exactly the way that people watched it in the theater opening day. If you've already seen the first version of a movie, then you can move on to "DVD extended Director cuts." That's what makes sense to me. I'm not saying everyone has to agree. Almost every time, when you have an "extended cut," all they do is put back scenes into a movie that were taken out for a reason. Usually, the movie flows better and works better without those scenes added in, that is why they were taken out in the first place. I 100% think that for T2. Again though, that's my opinion.

"I'll be back." I highly recommend watching the extended version of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) with the definitive ending. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that version and adds context that was originally taken out, anyone that says otherwise is pushing an agenda. Fun Fact: One afternoon during a break in filming, Arnold Schwarzenegger went into a restaurant in downtown L.A. to get some lunch and realized all too late that he was still in Terminator makeup - with a missing eye, exposed jawbone and burned flesh. Juice Dodged Fact: O.J. Simpson was considered for the Terminator, but the producers feared he was "too nice" to be taken seriously as a cold-blooded killer. Ironic. Director Cameo Fact: Near the beginning of the movie, when Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) receives a message on her answering machine breaking her date, the voice on the machine is James Cameron's.

I would recommend the extended Spacial edition with the restored scenes and the original ending.

This was only James Cameron's third movie as a director, but, he had worked for the famously stingy producer, Roger Corman, as an art director, and, set designer for years. So, he learned how to seriously stretch a budget, and, do a whole lot, with a very little. This movie's budget was only $6.4 million.
@powerbadpowerbad
@powerbadpowerbad Жыл бұрын
Yeah,people forget Cameron trained under Corman and like you mentioned knew how to use his budget.Also the cast and crew thought Cameron cared more about special effects than them.And on the Abyss set,the cast was so upset with Cameron they vowed never to do another film with him or do the press runs with him either.Cameron had a well-earned reputation of being a very driven,hard&&&. LOL.That was in the past tho,don't know if he's the same now.

"Did you need coins to call 9-1-1?" That's why it was called a "pay phone"! In the 1973 film Sexy Girls of Denmark, "TELEFON" was written on a phone.

9:42 Okay. Now she knows. For some reason, someone, today, is targeting the women in the phone book who have her name, in the very order they're listed, and she's the only one _left._ So she knows she's being _targeted._ She knows to be _alert._ She may not have any real _combat_ instinct to speak of, but she knows to be on the _alert._

24:45 "Cause, yeah. Maybe hiding is just the best _option."_ Well I mean, _sure,_ it _might_ be a viable option _if_ you could be sure you could put Sarah some place he wouldn't be able to _check_ in relatively short order. But I think this scene does a good job of illustrating the age-old wisdom of Sun Tzu which he put down in _The Art of War,_ centuries ago. "Know your enemy and know yourself and you need not fear the outcome of 1000 battles. Know yourself but _not_ your enemy and for every victory, you will suffer a defeat. Know _neither_ your enemy _nor_ yourself and you will succumb in _every_ confrontation." Consider the police station. It has _orders of magnitude_ more resources to bring to bear against the T800 than Kyle Reese, but he cuts through them like a hot knife through _butter._ In the meantime, Reese is able to successfully _fight_ the T800 because he knows his _enemy._ The T800 surpasses him in _every_ measurable way, but he's able to successfully fight it because he _knows_ it. He _understands,_ there _is_ no way to successfully make a stand against the T800 with just the resources of a single police station.

Your reaction actually seems genuine so I’m definitely gonna follow. I love watching the next generation enjoying my childhood favorites. You’re so lucky that you get to see it for the first time without knowing anything about it. Next you absolutely must watch Robocop from 1987. Never will you see a better piece of violent social satire. Also look into the Director. Everybody always asks how Sarah knows how to use the crusher. Just moments before, she accidentally pressed the button drawing the attention of the T800.

Even though you are correct that hair is dead once it leaves the surface of the skin, however keratin which is a protein and organic surrounds the dead hair cells that you see growing from a person's head. It is composed of tough protein, mainly keratin, which is a combination of amino acids like cysteine, serine, glutamic acid, etc. In elemental form, it contains 51% carbon, 17% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 6% hydrogen, 5% sulfur, and a trace amount of Fe, Mg and other elements. And not to get to scientific or nerdy about it, but in a way James Cameron was a genius or he got lucky about the time traveling unit. They say nothing "dead" will go, but in reality based on the movie, everything organic will go through.

That terminator was hard as hell to get rid of. Sarah Connor the mother of John in the future should be honored of what she knew. Have you seen An American Werewolf In London? It was an 80's horror/comedy classic. Maybe you could do a reaction video of it sometime? I think you would like it.

This is 1984 & AT&T first started implementing the advanced 911 system in 1980 there were still ads on TV in the 80s to teach ppl about 911. So the 80's you might have had to use a coin. I know in the 90s you could dial 911 or operator for free. Kind of like cell phone can now call 911 even if they're not in service. 911 with designed about tracing landlines it wasn't until 1998 that they started to implement pinging the closest cell tower to your cell phone

OK, here's the 'lore': 101 is the 'skin' model, in this case the 'Arnie' version. There are probably thousands of skin models and each model has thousands of copies. The 'Chassis' the machine underneath the skin has it's own 'model' designation; for ex: this Arnie chassis is T800
@Henrik_Holst
@Henrik_Holst Жыл бұрын
Which is retconned though. Remember that Kyle knows that Arnie is a model 101 but he doesn't know what he looks like (which is why he had to wait for the Terminator to make the first movie at Technoir). It also doesn't make much sense for an infiltration model to have set designs so this was just IMHO a sloppy thing that they introduced in T3.

If anyone watches the first movie, and likes it, they need to see the sequel (not even going to mention what came later). I'm in the T2 is the better movie camp but both are incredible movies and even in rare cases where a sequel is superior it wouldn't exist without the original so that's always a point in the original's favor.

As the Nostalgia Critic pointed out, it's kind of ridiculous having a fake jump scare out of Sarah's iguana knocking things from the fridge down on Ginger at 10:45. What, are we supposed to believe that the Terminator is squashed up in that narrow gap between the top of the fridge and the ceiling? Then again, if someone can make that entertaining, it's Arnold Schwarzenegger.
@CaddyJim

You asked if that was the same *Sarah Connor* killed on TV or second to *Sarah* killed. To *Sarah's* had been killed by that time trying to make you think that the other guy is killing *Sarah Connor's* too not just *#Arnold* since they didn't show you him killing the 2nd *Sarah* either

The only disadvantage that I had when it first came out, a spoiler was revealed and I hope you don't know the spoiler at all. The introduction confuses some people though that 2 terminators were sent back in time, to kill her son, as a child. This confuses the most important facts of the movie. If you don't listen carefully to the intro. But as I also said, I got the spoiler before I even saw the movie the first time. All I can say, the movie was made great and the ending will still make you feel sad too. Just come with us if you want to live. 😂
