First of all, I agree with everything you said in this video, I don't know how you can doubt the creativity of editors, they are so underrated! There is a book by Jose Saramago called "The story of siege of Lisabon" which explores this theme closely;) On another note, I'm studying to be a translator, so I ask myself the same question quite frequently and the answer varies from day to day... but I try not to lose heart and your video made me a bit more confident(though you're obviously speaking about another profession)

The subject of this video makes me really want to recommend a movie to you, if you haven't seen it already. It's called Genius, and it stars Colin Firth and Jude Law. It's all about the working and personal relationship between legendary editor, Max Perkins, and also legendary writer, Thomas Wolfe. It brilliantly shows the process of how these two kinds of people have to work together to get the final product of the book. They really needed each other in order for everything to be as it should be. And it does show that, yes, editors are creative as well. :D
