As someone in the process of leaving the church, I’m really trying to hold on to Jesus by attending a local Christian church (which has been great), but I still have that deeply rooted feeling that if the one true church isn’t true, nothing can be true. It makes me so angry sometimes that this belief is so ingrained into me and that even though I can recognize it, I still can’t shake it. The best biblical advice anyone can give you is to be a Berean. Acts 17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul [or anyone] said was true." But also note that Jesus did everything for our salvation leaving us nothing left to do. (Read Romans and Galatians, look up the definition of words at blueletterbibleDOTorg because Mormonism has redefined words) Christ's blood has you covered every step of the way. Pay attention to context. Read with new NON LDS eyes. Praying for you.

Perhaps these former Mormons start reading the work of Bart Ehrman. I read Israel Finkelstein's Israeli archaeologist in The Bible Unearthed argues there is no evidence for the exodus and conquest. Ehrman argues read the resurrection stories horizontally and compare the accounts.

@@noelhausler2911 there are going to be compelling arguments for events that happened pre-recorded history. I have trouble with “white-washed” events that can be proven.

I get it totally, but find out for yourself. Mormonism is a counterfeit. Take off the Mormon lens and read the bible as if for the first time, start with Romans and Galatians. Cheers.
