I think you need to try out hamburgers. I know many of the components are the same as tacos, but given it's processed or sliced cheese and not shredded, the various condiments as well as a blind taste test of a basic bun vs a brioche bun to see which ingredients really make a difference. I think the beef will matter even more without it swimming in seasoning.

I’d be curious to see a Brand vs Basic for Bolognese Sauce. It’s a lot of meat with veggies and wine so could imagine the meat might have a similar effect as the tacos but am curious what difference the wine makes after it gets cooked down in the sauce?

I love the comments from the editor. Keep it up! For the next meat based dish to do Brand vs. Basic, how about chili? Or, if you want some non-meat options, how about grilled cheese, hot fudge sundae, or hot chocolate? Also, I'm curious about the difference the taco seasoning made. You noted when you opened the package that the aroma was noticeably different, and the sauce stuck to the meat better, which likely made a big difference. I might have to experiment!

One thing that could make this more interesting would be to taste test each combination of all the ingredients. This would have made that a bit easier, but the real question is what are the changes that make the dish as a whole better? Also, we all like ground beef tacos, but do people prefer ground chicken or ground pork? Sometimes you gotta save money or follow a dietary restriction, so what's the best runner up? I know I have my vote

@Nate From the Internet There's a few recipes I'd love to to see compared! The first would be a stew as I'm curious to see how flavours develop between cheap and expensive when it comes to something that is cooked for a decent amount of time. Something like Coq au vin would be good but feel free to choose any stew that uses any other meat, be that lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, pork, mince... etc. Gulasz/Glouash, Gulas, Beef bourguignon or something like that would be great too! The other one I would suggest is a Chili con Carne, but do it WITH beans & tomatos (purists will hate us!).

Had just fixed myself some tacos, sat down and turned on KZbin and this was the first video that popped up on my feed. If you want to cut onions without crying, don't cut off the roots. If you're dicing them, cut it in half from top to roots and then do your cross pattern starting at the top of the onion. Gordon Ramsay has a good video demonstrating it.

I’ve really enjoyed these videos so far! to not cry while cutting onions, dont cut the root off if you can help it. it releases more sulfides which cause the crying. either way, cut the top off and peel them and then toss them in some cold water for a few minutes, or let them sit under a small flow of cold tap water. it washes away the chemicals before they are released too much.

When you're making tacos at home... buy a jar of the hottest salsa you can find. When the beef is about 90% cooked, pour in the salsa. (Plus the seasoning.) You want it to be very hot because the hotness will be diluted by the beef and in the end it won't be spicy/hot, just flavorful. Also adding the salsa adds moisture and you can break the meat up more in it so the texture is improved. Also have scallion as one of the available toppings. Also get flour tortillas, and fry them lightly (not to crisp, just to slightly browned) before serving. Use butter or lard. I get burrito tortillas because they're big and when folks come to a taco party they want lots of stuff. After the party, I throw all leftovers together and I have lunch for days. It's good on top of salad too.
