Yes, foxes are generally friendly animals, and they may instinctively approach you. At the very max, if they don't like your presence they will simply run away. If you don't like their presence or having them sitting on our lap on casual days, you will have to let them know. This is because foxes do not behave the same way as their dog family. However, a snarling fox would definitely mean sick with rabies. You are generally right about the differences about wild, tame, and domesticated. The main difference, though, is the trust.

I'm surrounded by foxes living on the edge of woods. They keep their distance only really coming into the yard if they feel they are alone, sometimes can find them sunbathing in the grass.

I agree 100% with the host that urban foxes are NOT tame, and no matter how 'friendly', must always be treated as wild animals, and respected as such. However, the evidence very strongly suggests that they are not dangerous - unless they are thretened, their young are threatened, they are wounded or ill, eg with Rabies, or are temporarily unbalanced due to their emotions, as can happen with 'teenage' foxes before they mature and settle down. Otherwise, they can be skittish, inquisitive, playful, friendly or wary around humans. With humans they get to know well, they will become less wary - especially if you feed them regularly and are gentle around them. Anyone falling in love with a fox because they're so cute - which they are - should remember that its normal for foxes to mark 'their' territory with wee and pooh. Constantly.. So my advice is: feed them, love them, befriend them, but let them stay wild, outdoor creatures.

I didn't come here asking IF foxes are friendly. I was trying to find out WHY this one female fox is being so friendly. I didn't start off feeding her, but now i guess i'm stuck with her.🤣

Hello. I am a fox expert specializing in red foxes. your videos are very informative, very fair to the fox and almost everything is actually true. but here in this video i found a mistake for the first time. wild foxes are not loners, yes they travel alone, but they are mostly monogamous and extremely social partners who stay together for a lifetime and live in family groups. or they are polygamy. but yes, they avoid contact with humans and other animals. the fox has often asked the cat to play and sometimes the cat agrees and the two play peacefully together. but don't worry to all cat owners, most of the time the cat chases the fox away, foxes have great respect for cats. otherwise a very good video. great work. keep it up.

I have a female fox and her 2 cubs that come into my garden, I do leave food out for them which is dog food and biscuits with fresh water, along with boiled eggs and apples, they love to munch about in my garden and they also adventure in to next doors garden, they are also good with my 3 cats, one of them is not full adult and very small, they are all strays that I have taken in but they are never attacked by the foxes, the foxes know I watch them but from inside the house from the window, I know if I went into the garden then would run so nobody from my household would disturb them when they come to visit.

Foxes are best left in the wild but befriending a wild fox is exciting as long as you maintain a respectful distance. Over time, with a lot of patience, a wild fox may approach you; just be still and watchful. Remember that they don't understand that human touch (petting) is a positive thing. They could get scared and bite. For everyone's well-being it's best to admire foxes from afar.💕🦊💕

I’m doing research because I have 2 adults and 3 or 4 cubs that took over the groundhogs den in my back yard. I’ve been putting good quality dog/cat food out for them for about a week that they’ve been eating. They still run away when they see me.

I wouldn't keep a tame fox without a large outdoor enclosure. They are in no way house pets. They're happiest with places to run, jump, dig, and hide when overwhelmed.

I would never pet a wild fox at all, I would only pet a fox that has been in captivity and is used to people petting it.

a surefire way of befriending a wild fox is by leaving food out for them. that'll get on their good side!
