"Free speech - the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint". Let's bear that in mind @20:25 "I am not saying the editor should of said to Boris 'don't say that'" One minute earlier.... @19:40 "Lets see how free speech affects people , then think about 'should that be regulated? Is that something that needs to be punished" Ladies and gentlemen .. I give you the left where freedom of speech is not under attack whatsoever .. its a myth to say otherwise ! But it must be regulated and possibly punished. That isn't free speech , by it's very definition, because the power is then taken away from the speaker and given to whoever is deeming it worthy of repercussion. Isn't it a bit like saying "The Russians had freedom of speech under Stalin it was a myth to say they didn't .. unless they said anything against the regime where they would simple face repercussions." This C4 Reporter isn't even challenging her either which just demonstrates the lefty bias in the media.

At 19:40 she was talking about hate speech. Convenient that you clipped the timestamp just after she mentioned that. There's a distinct difference between the two forms. Namely, hate speech limits the ability of others to express their own freedom of speech, through intimidation and incitement of violence. That is what should be regulated.
@stefanofalcini9486
@stefanofalcini9486 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ytremz No I was truthful in what I said and it is still consistent with what your response. Ok let's use your example. Define hate speech. If I call someone silly , is that hate speech? If someone says that a transgender woman is not a biological women, is that hate speech? See the problem there is as I mentioned , power is given to the person dictating what hate speech is. Incitement to violence is something we can measure and all agree is wrong - specifically calling for violence against other individuals. Hate speech is subjective and can spiral out of control to the point where anything someone deems offensive can be banned , which we can see happening today. Hence the attack on freedom of speech.
@Ytremz
@Ytremz 5 жыл бұрын
@@stefanofalcini9486 Calling transgender women biological men is not hate speech... it's fact. However, stating or insinuating that transgendered people are somehow inhuman, inferior or dangerous is hate speech, because this can both intimidate and threaten trans people. I'm not seeing the ambiguity of defining hate speech in this case.
@stefanofalcini9486
@stefanofalcini9486 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ytremz According to you it isn't. According to this group it is: www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-45650462. That is the ambiguity I am talking about because making someone feel unsafe or inferior is subjective. If I called you silly , you might laugh or you could feel insecure and inhuman and demand I be banned from saying it. Who then decides to silence me ? That's the dangerous part for me as hate speech is then hard to define. It may be fine for one person but completly offensive for another. It sounds nice what you are saying but it is compelty not practical.
@Ytremz
@Ytremz 5 жыл бұрын
@@stefanofalcini9486 Stefano Falcini I think what you are exemplifying here is the ambiguity of context, which is a valid point. Objectively, the poster is not hate speech, because the definition of the word 'woman' is neutral. However, the article mentions that the advert was "accused of being part of a transphobic campaign", which can make that neutral definition a component of hate speech.

But its PC When the goverment or law forbids you to say sexist things or display is clearly a violation of freedom of speech. Its Also PC But what When organizations , instiutions OR workplaces, website policies like youtube say you cant say sexist things or display. ? Free speech is for everyone not for the privileged sections of societies or the few races that are picked, the ability to offend others who offend you, or argue back against someone who attacks you without the fear of imprisonment is fundamental to free speech. If you cannot argue your case and win against the opinion you hate, you may well be wrong 🤔

What if I decided that my way of winning an argument was to call the police, and to use my freedom of speech to suggest you are a terrorist. Within the hour, your house is raided by armed police unit, chaos ensues etc. Clearly, we must draw a line in terms what constitutes free speech, and the repercussions of crossing those lines.

. A point she made on women hiring in education. She does not understand that women teachers teach because they like teaching. They are not in upper management because they are taken away from their vocation. Men that go into education management usually did not start out in teaching and work their way up. They do a management course not a teaching one and a major study at one university said that there was a lack of female applicants for internal hiring to senior roles because women were not interested. I'm a teacher and I can tell you the principal does nothing all day and it is a very different, uninteresting unfulfilling job. Germaine Greer beautifully documented this phenomena in one of her enlightened discourses.....who Channel 4 needs to invite back on as she's been victim to political correctness, free speech imposition and de-platforming.

The reason I will never go along with or accept political correctness has zero to do with a “desire to be rude.” That’s just the excuse that proponents of political correctness use to try to justify it. My refusal to accept it is because even if I happen to agree with the decisions the so-called, self-appointed “arbiters” of p.c. have made over what does and doesn’t count as “offensive” or “rude” or “hate” or blah blah blah, those decisions will not be made for me. I will make them for myself. I will never accept being told how to think, speak, or feel, period.

@grayarcana
@grayarcana 4 жыл бұрын
For all the oppression she finds here, Nesrine has probably deployed herself in the theatre of struggle where she can be most effective. She is right about what Maynard Keynes called the Governing classes in England. Governing classes can endure for generations, with a high degree of family line continuity, and in England the Political classes in Politics, the Legislature, Law and the Media are a culturally close community. On the other hand, a new Governing class can emerge quickly, after a revolution, or after a genocidal invasion or invasions, such as suffered by Poland in the 20th Century. However, such a Governing class can culturally transform quite rapidly, as happened in England in the mid-Twentieth Century. There was some changing of the guard, my Lord Dacre withdrawing to the Shires with all his gallant train, to be replaced by personnel from the Universities. The ethics and ideals of the contemporary Governing classes are at a radical departure from that obtaining in 1939: the last ‘Social season’. The underlying, more fundamental question is whether Social Justice of necessity must be achieved Globally, or whether it is possible to achieve, and sustain, Social Justice in One Country, the struggle in each country running it’s own course according to conditions on the ground. Has the struggle for Social Justice too far to go? Will it collapse as the contemporary order of civilization is overtaken by successive waves of existential crises in the coming decades? Leaving aside particular controversies, the massing potential crises are Cosmological, Ecological, Environmental, Economic, Strategic and Social. Now in fairness, Social Justice does address the latter.
