Your process is what makes you fast. I think you're faster when you're on the chute.

“Slump Police” 😆 Does the ready-mix plant tell you if you’ll be getting a front or rear dump mixer the day before? If they did, it seems like you might control your crew size by a man, if you knew you were getting a front dump. As much concrete as we pour in S.Fla, front dumps are still fairly rare. We tend to pump a lot more I think, so front or rear doesn’t make much difference. As far as slab cracking goes; once I had a deck that when we came in the next morning to start verticals, the whole slab was cracked like I’d never seen before. Hairline cracks everywhere. I had no choice but to call the engineer to see what they wanted to do. It was post tension so they said let us know how it goes after stressing. We did 2 to 3 day tensioning w/high-early mixes so it didn’t take long. After we stressed, you couldn’t find a single crack anywhere. I even marked what I thought were some of the bigger ones and not a single trace of a crack anywhere. It was a 9th or 10th floor so us and the ready-mix company both were very relieved. Engineer was completely unconcerned.

Ive never even seen a rear discharge truck. Here in Upper Michigan near lake Superior we have 3 batch plants and they only use front discharge trucks. We would be fu ked if a rear discharge pulled up on site! 😂

Hartford, CT area .. we only have front discharge trucks. I cannot remember when I saw a rear one. Another thing , we are not required to have foam or even poly under our garage floors. Is that required in for NE northern neighbor?

Out here in western mass you won’t even see a rear discharge truck. Did you let the driver know he has a headlight out?

If you have a good driver then front discharge is the way to go in my opinion. Of course the driver will never place the concrete as well as yourself

Good, experienced drivers that understand how to place the concrete is important for sure!
