Tottenham are recovering from their Premier League (PL) defeat to Arsenal in the North London Derby, but in the aftermath both ex-Manchester United defender Gary Neville of Sky Sports and Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou have made clear points about the future of Tottenham Hotspur.
But do you agree with them?
Tottenham face Coventry City in the Carabao Cup/ League Cup this week!
Tottenham Hotspur have not been quite as active in the transfer window this summer - only signing Archie Gray from Leeds United and Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC, Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth and Wilson Odobert from Burnley - but over the last few years under Ange Postecoglou Spurs have been building a top youth side.
With the help of Daniel Levy, Scott Munn, Johan Lange and Fabio Paratici Spurs have lowered the average age of the squad to 25.
The Premier League is heating up with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Luton Town, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Wolves aka Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, Southampton and Leicester City.
The former Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos, Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham squad include Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, Emerson Royal, Yves Bissouma, Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Dejan Kulusevski, Bryan Gil, Brennan Johnson, Son Heung-Min (손흥민) Richarlison, Pape Matar Sarr, Jamie Donley, Alfie Dorrington, Ashley Phillips, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, Sergio Reguilon, Djed Spence, Ryan Sessegnon, Micky van de Ven, Timo Werner, Radu Dragusin, James Maddison and Dane Scarlett, Manor Solomon, Alejo Veliz, Giovani Lo Celso, Ben Davies, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Alfie Whiteman, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Tanguy Ndombele, Joe Rodon, Lucas Bergvall, Mikey Moore, Archie Gray, Yang Min-hyuk, Wilson Odobert, Dominic Solanke and Luka Vuskovic.
Sonny Talks Spurs content focuses on Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup (League Cup) and FA Cup talking about Tottenham Hotspur, Ange Postecoglou, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, James Maddison, Manor Solomon, Daniel Levy, ENIC, Joe Lewis, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, transfer news, tactical analysis and much more. Sonny has made content with Rory Jennings from The Club, Joe Thomlinson/ Zac Djellab of Football Daily and Sky Sports, Harry Durham of talkSPORT, Ciaran Carlin of WillNE fame, Gabby Agbonlahor, Angelina Kelly from Stretford Paddock and James Lawrence Allcott, Alice Talks Footballa aka ECILA Football, FourFourTwo and Mark Goldbridge, plus many Spurs channels which include - Ben & Sim from We Are Tottenham TV, The Irish Hotspurs, Hollie's Hotspurs, Scarfey Spurs Talk, Spurs Talk Show, Barnaby Slater aka Spurred On, Chris Cowlin, Spurs King TV, Ben Bowman and Expressions Oozing

AS an outsider have to say Spurs fans are the most fair weather supporters I have ever seen in any sport, not win a game manager out...... Have a look at your history and your trophy cabinet and see what rotation of Managers does for you. Let me guess: Celtic fan? I’m Ange in, however there are many Spurs fans older than me who’ve waited a long long time and seen so many false dawns for a manager to turn up and turn around the club’s fortunes (ie win some proper silverware). They’re getting smashed in the pocket every year with sky high ticket prices, watching the club grow and succeed in every area apart from the one they want to see - on the pitch. I don’t blame the weariness. This project under Ange is clearly going to take patience, Levy in particular has sucked the patience dry within the fan base. What fans really want is change of owneship and to see all that money they’re forced to pay turn into success on the pitch. But Levt is untouchable, so the manager is the only outlet available for that disgruntlement. A club like Celtic does not have this problem. It’s basically a one team league. You never have to wait for anything. Cannot compare these situations.

However he really does have to address our defensive weaknesses and the lack of finishing up front. People asking for Postecoglou's head on a stick, or even yourself make my blood boil. Not so much you Sonny, but we have to be real here. Look at all the managers we've had, and what they've achieved when they've left us or before arriving at Tottenham. Poch left us and won Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain in his 1st season. Jose won the Europa Conference League, it's nothing special but it's an achievement either way. These are just an example, but my point being is we've had some of the best managers the footballing world has seen. But we can't seem to get over the line. The Champions League final was our closest. And was with a manager that we've stuck with for years. We've got to strip of ourselves with this mentally of, aaah it's the managers fault get rid of him. NO!! It wasn't until the end of last season we were still playing with players from the poch era. If we're going to do a rebuild then we have to stick by our boss Posticoglou. If it takes 2 seasons, so be it. But the improvements need to take time to set in. No point in starting a re-build, sacking the manager. Bringing in someone else, telling him to work with these players. Get some good results, new transfers mixed in with old transfers. 2 managers different views and achievement goals.

@SonnyTalksSpurs and that's good. But we can't be bringing up sack conversations this early on. What good will it do. Just be like Chelsea in disguise. To anyone who reads this with that mentality, then you're not Spurs fans!!! If we're going to bring in someone to rebuild then let him rebuild. Sitting there crying we've not won a trophy in 20 odd years etc. It takes time, and we've gotta trust the process.

Ange should be spikey. Some Spurs fans are the most miserable bunch on earth. If we just keep firing managers until we win a trophy we don't ever deserve to win another trophy. We deserve Ryan Mason for an eternity. Arsenal are a better team. Full stop. They're 2 or 3 years further along in their "project". It's not what people want to hear but honestly 0-1 is not a terrible result. Spurs are not where they need to be... yet. I'll reserve my judgement until the end of the season. I find the relentless negativity thoroughly sickening.

Gary is spot on. Arsenal were brilliant as defenders. We must learn how they do that. Vicario has to dominate the 6 yard box. I would pick Forster every time. Any corner floated in to the centre of the 6 yard box must be grabbed by the keeper. Our outfield players should deal with any other corner situation. There are 2 other players that should not be allowed on the pitch but the manager disagrees with me. I thought VDV, Udogie and Madders played well. Odubert also looked fine as he is a bit unpredictable in direction which is awkward for defenders. The opposite is true of Johnson and Kulu. Against a low block without good wingers our best plan is to cross further back as Madders did, like De Bruyne. It is hopeless trying to pass your way through a defence like Arsenal's. Most Premier League teams can organise a good narrow defence as we have found out already at Leicester and Newcastle. I want Ange to stay for many years because he is brave and reflects our motto. I am prepared to be patient but cannot understand why he picks certain players or plays some, like Sonny, in the wrong position.

The football contrary to popular opinion has been improving, our biggest weaknesses have quietly become our only weaknesses(set pieces and high line), and we're controlling games ever so slightly more than last season. This team needs to fucken wake up. Dominating possession but passing the ball side to side and back. When runs are being made the ball is not being played quick enough or even at all. I would've enjoyed seeing Lo Celso been given a decent chance in that midfield, bentancur seems off the pace and too slow. Whatever the game plan is, it's not working and that's for the captain to inspire his players while on the pitch. Ange has potential, but this team seem too timid on the pitch. Honestly the armband seems to have dimmed Son's goal scoring too. I'm always hopeful we finally start to show we want to win games. The 3 losses to me were gifts to our opponents. Hi Sonny, sorry but your being too soft on Spurs. Ange’s system is failing, we look lost as an attacking unit. It’s not just the arsenal match but the Leicester and Newcastle games and the last 7 months previous to that. We are a team in decline, results prove it. We are one of the most easiest teams to play against. Yes Ange was not backed in the summer but why is he going along with it all, saying he is happy with who we brought in. Everyone knew what players we needed. Along side his silly statements about we can still challenge for the title and he is not focused on defending. To be a top side you must have a strong defence, u can’t out score teams every week. We are in relegation form since last season and if Ange does not change things quick he will be gone. I have lost faith in him as a manager. I liked how you put the video together 👍

@@SonnyTalksSpurs We all know the real problem with the club comes down to Levy, we can’t do anything about that yet until there is another protest. I am now thinking there is a better manager out there who can get much more from this group of players, someone who is better tactically, so we are not getting embarrassed week in week out. Spurs are a laughing stock to rival fans and I have had enough. You say about the young talented players but they are not going to do it now, they are not even getting into the team. If u want to win in another 3 or 4 years then fine. I wanted to see improvements this season and to reduce the points gap to Man City, Arsenal & Liverpool. What happened to Mikey Moore, he contributed in preseason and now we don’t even see him. The whole thing is a mess at the moment and to be honest I can’t see it getting any better anytime soon. Take your pick Joachim Löw Graham Potter’s Solskjaer’s Sergio Conceicao (Porto manager ) Massimiliano Allegri Xavi Thomas Tuchel Mauricio Pochettin Niko Kovac So I’m arsenal fan, I truly believe Tottenham for the past few years have had great managers. I remember at point thinking Arsenal might be trouble. Arsenal gave Arteta time and money now look at us. Your previous managers were actually great just needed money and time Poch, Avb, Mourinho & Conte. The last two are serial winners who have won trophies. Dealt with big players and know the league. The problem now attracting other managers , if so many high profile managers with great credentials are leaving Tottenham why would a manager to go to Tottenham. Seems more like a headache. Don’t forget arteta actually loves Arsenal so he will give more. I noticed Tottenham managers afterwards become frustrated and done with Tottenham. Truthfully levy needs to get on his knees and beg Poch to come back I think he was so perfect for Tottenham. And give him what wants. If not Poch go for Graham potter or xavi

Gidday mate, Ange can believe and say what he likes.Go past the first ten games where spurs won the league in October( new manager bounce, many are saying)....Analyse the results since then.Injuries, suspensions and international commitments reveal the squad strength. The 28 games and 4 from this season is a 12th place result.IF, you remember what I said had to happen in the last window(bring in 5 established EPL starting players) and look what happened.ONE came in and a young one with half a season as a starter. Not good enough to cope with the 50+ games this season. The youngsters may have potential but they are getting limited minutes. He wont start them unless he has to."dominating a game" is complete BS, the opposition is letting TH have the ball and waiting for the opportunity that they know will come. The prettiest girl at the dance but a DUD in bed(lol) thats what Spurs are with AngeBall. As a coach he is like a racehorse with blinkers on, tunnel vision. He should have taken one of the Championship jobs that were offered. He isnt EPL standard.YES, I hear you, its only 4 games in.These next 6 are all difficult.Four away, possibly the home fixtures will produce something???Ive seen his winning teams ALL of them.He only wins when he has superior players, forget the ladder it's a 8-14 season finish.Maybe a run in one of the domestic cups?GN makes some valid points.Lets assess in a month after this run of fixtures are past.Sorry to be the bearer of reality news but thats what I see( and have seen over the last 30 odd years).

He won’t address why they didn’t (too many extra passes in the buildup and lack of discipline at the back) because he’s struggling with the reality that he’s never managed at this level before and thinks broad brush strokes will eventually win the day. This league has become so technical his team will always look like they’re trying to play through a brick wall. There’s a level I just don’t think Spurs are even aware of. First 20 mins v Arsenal, they drove everyone crazy taking the extra touch or the extra pass! That’s Championship football. Put ball in net! Ange ball is Championship football.

No it would return us to chaos. Have to stick with him until at least the end of the season.

I want Ange to stay. The Thought of starting again and failing again is most disheartening. I wish the fans would back the manager.
