@Finnboy-ml5jv3 жыл бұрын
@@iagonax2158 There is one thing you don't seem to get is that tail weapons are a pretty huge toll on a tetrapods mobility. Ankylosaurs and glyptodonts are heavy armoured animals, who relied on standing their ground which often left them vulnerable. This tactic performs awfully against coordinated attacks which unlike in the mesozoic are very videspread nowadays. And also humans exist, and tail oriented buids stand no chance against them. You are overrating this strategy. Stegos have went extinct pretty quickly, ankylos did not face pack predotors(mostly a pair of rexes guarantee anky's death) and armadillos got completely countered by humans.

A ram build with a more defensive underside would be quite good, as the headbutt attack requires start up where your character exposes their stomach. One important tradeoff to speccing into horns that was not mentioned here is that due to the heavy and often erratic motion of a player's skull when using headgear weapons the intelligence attribute has to dropped to at least slightly below average to prevent recoil damage to the brain during high impact collisions and swings. While reduced intelligence can often be a small nerf to pay if its allows for extra buffs to more critical survivals traits for your species build it can put you at a disadvantage against predator builds that employ attack strategies that require extra fore planning and anticipation to evade like team attacks or environmental ambush exploits.

"The two main weapons are horns and antlers" Pronghorns: "Are we a joke to you?" Anyway, time for bonus education for viewers! Technically Rhinoceros "horns" aren't horns. Horns are defined as a keratin shell with no tines that grows over a bone core underneath it near the base. Rhinoceros "horns" meanwhile are just a huge protrusion made entirely of keratin without the bone core. Antlers meanwhile are defined as a deciduous bone growth that usually has tines and is shed shortly after its fully grown. In his video he also gave an honorable mention to ossicones at 1:37. Ossicones, the lumpy horn things on Giraffes, are also not horns either. They're bony skull protrusions that get covered in hair and flesh and, unlike antlers, are not shed. As for the Pronghorn mentioned in the beginning of my comment: Pronghorns are kinda like the middle ground between a horn and an antlers and are found only in members of the family Antilocapridae (of which the only surviving member is the North American Pronghorn Antelope). Pronghorns are unique in that they're a keratin shell over a bone core, like a horn, but it possesses tines and the shell is shed and replaced like an antler. Thus it is neither a horn nor an antler, but rather its own catagory.

Horn -a hard permanent outgrowth, often curved and pointed, found in pairs on the heads of cattle, sheep, goats, giraffes, etc. and consisting of a core of bone encased in keratinized skin. -a woolly keratinized outgrowth, occurring singly or one behind another, on the snout of a rhinoceros. -a deer's antler. -a projection resembling a horn on the head of another animal, e.g., a snail's tentacle or the tuft of a horned owl. Definitions can be more generalized than you think. So don't be so quick to correct

Horns have some utility value too in some species. The Bongo's wide outswept horns serve the standard purposes of defense and swag, but their particular shape means that as they walk through their home forests, the horns slowly sweep away at branches along the bongo's usual paths. When they're confronted and want to flee, they simply tuck their horns back and are able to run at full speed through the gap in the brush the horns have created. You get full horn utility in an environment where they are often a major liability.

Awesome! I had never heard of the Bongo faction. Thanks for turning me on to this new play style. Those horns are rad.
@UnreasonableOpinions3 жыл бұрын
Another incredibly niche ability of the bongo relates to their pigmentation. Their red colour is actually very loose, and when wet allows them to distinctly mark their trails for other players. This was a weird choice, but became very powerful when human moved in, because when early human players touched bongos they had killed, it stained their hands blood-red for years. The massive morale penalty meant that despite their excellent match-up against other antelopes, the human playerbase refused to target bongos at all until very recently.

@dakotashroom54013 жыл бұрын
It is impossible for an exoskeleton user to have an inner skeleton. It would be an interesting idea, yes. But, the reason why inner and exoskeletons exist is for opposite reasons! An inner skeleton exists so a species can have flexible muscles to move fast. An exoskeleton exists to offer armor to the creature, weighing it down, and boosting its defense. This armor needs to be shed when the creature grows bigger. If such a creature were to, somehow, exist that had both it would have such a massive internal pressure that it would be surprising if it had any ability to move, let alone survive. What your thinking of is a creature who has an inner skeleton but gain armor. This is doable. But, with evolution come some passive bonuses that allow for certain builds to exist, effectively. Without these bonuses a skeleton user would been to have a temporary armor set because they literally don't have the muscle strength to sustain the level of pressure. Therefore, starting with a mollusk is the way to go in that case, or some other thing without a skeletal structure. This is so your inner bones don't ache and degrade. Did you know shellfish exist?

I don't know, when you think deeply about it it's not that fun. First of all, it is inherently imbalanced, nature doesn't care about fair PVP. Second of all, some builds are super boring but important, like barnacles, jellyfish, worms and the vast majority filter feeders and those short lived small creatures that mass reproduce. Everybody wants to play high tiers, nobody will play the super weak prey that mass reproduce or low tier builds, and without them in the game, how can the fun and powerful high tiers sustain themselves? This leads to another, most important problem: everything is a player. In each footage of a lion getting bodied in this video, there's a thousand insect players we couldn't see. There's not even close to enough people on the planet to play the game and sustain the ecosystems.

Almost all good tail builds were banned since the restart of the servers on the meteor event, unlease the devs make a patch bringing old ankylo builds, we were prob stay on tools meta for a while

Tail builds were too easy to exploit and threw balance off pretty bad. I’m okay with the update. Orcas don’t even need to use their tails but they’re deadly. That says it all really

The only builds that I know of that were nerfed harder than Large/Tail builds, were Spectral, Psychic, Crystal, and Mineral Body builds.

Always find it odd how they don’t just break, like they do, but surprised it doesn’t happen more often, especially when used in fights and the amount of force behind the strikes

I once played as a deer main a few years ago, and I really enjoyed having bonus piercing damage. I ended up doing really well. Edit: Wow 59 likes thanks guys!

My bighorn run through was one of my favorites. Such a rush all the way through.

During my duck run I sometimes chilled with deer, but I always had to fly away whenever predators showed up since I had no means of defense. Because I was a noob I ended up getting caught and killed by a human.

@@MK_ULTRA420 The trick is learning which areas are safe and which aren't. Ironically enough, the more humans there are around you (not very close, but within sight), the safer you tend to be. If it's a comfortable flight away from where humans tend to gather, it's often much less safe.
@MK_ULTRA4203 жыл бұрын
@@AnotherDuck That makes sense. My American Bald Eagle run was way more fun by comparison. Seagulls were the bullied ones now, and I saw the human-exclusive transport birds flying above me. Also the humans all gave me food and let me look at their lightboxes.

Honestly one of the most underrated channels out there. Great commentary and creative use of the games. Especially the OSRS ones. Amazing content!!!

I would love to see a crab tier list, especially with there being a bunch of different animals that evolved independently into "crabs"

Crabs are akin to esport players.

I used to think that Horns were just accessories for the intimidating factor but they are more than that this is my second playthrough as a Human, at first I chose a Sloth this time anything didn't really change next time I would choose wisely and choose horns for the Speed as well
