Yes Ísland is the Icelandic name for Iceland but it doesn't annoy us that others call it Iceland, we also have Icelandic names for other countries :) btw Britain in Icelandic is Bretland

I just commented that In Farsi aka Persian we pronounce Iceland as Eesland and we write it ایسلند . So I guess we have a very accurate pronunciation of it !!

I think that goes back to the days when there were "malt shops". Wendy's Frosties are like malted milkshakes. A blast from the past! (Not that I was alive during the days of malt shops). 😉

The Icelandic name _Ísland_ has the same meaning as the English name: _ís_ is ‘ice’ and _land_ is ‘country, land’. So the English name is technically a calque. The English word that happens to be spelt _island_ in English, on the other hand, has nothing to do with ice or Iceland - the s in that word has never been pronounced and wasn’t there at all historically. It used to be written _iland_ or _yland_ in Middle English, and in Old English it was _īeg̍land._ That’s a compound of _īeg_ (which meant ‘island’ by itself originally) and _land,_ so it’s really ‘island-land’. The reason it got an s eventually is that it looks so similar to _isle._ The resemblance is coincidental, though - _isle_ was borrowed from French (written _île_ in Modern French) and comes from Latin _insula._ So yeah, _isle, island, Ísland_ and _Iceland_ are a bit confusing, but it all fits together somehow.

Wendy’s frosty is a big part of my childhood. ☺️ Definitely dipped the fries in it. I was a cheerleader in high school and after games we would go to McDonald’s. We all dipped our fries in their sweet and sour sauce. That’s a game changer too.

Hindber is Raspberry (in German Himbeere) and we call Iceland also Island in German not the direct translation Eisland (as in English Iceland), for whatever reason ;-)

I use to love the Brach's Bridge mix. It was a mix is a type of snack mix or candy consisting of nuts, fruits, and "cremes" covered in chocolate. Some common ingredients in bridge mix include peanuts, raisins, macadamia nuts, jujubes, malt, fruits, nougat, and licorice. I love that you could a few different items and mix it up a bit.

When I lived in USA Ann 1996 I loved Brachs bridge mix and the chocolate covered jellies were my favourite. I read that they have discontinued the chocolate jellies such a shame.

Wendy' is a frosty. The first time I had soft serve ice cream it came from Dairy Queen. That is the only kind of ice cream they sold. Next time you come to the USA look for a Dairy Queen.

2:06 It's a different language. Look at like this. Germany in German is Deutschland, but no one who doesn't speak German calls it that. The Philippines in Tagalog is Ang Pilipinas, but no one who doesn't speak Tagalog would call it that. If you don't speak the language, you aren't expected to say the name of the country in their native language. 4:48 Wendy's Frosty! That means it's probably malted milk, because Wendy's Frosty's are frozen malted milk
