Are insulating bushing required for Liquidtight Flexible Nonmetallic Conduit (LFNC) fittings?

Mike they make a bushing that's like a handcuff and it wraps around the pipe basically Mike it's a bushing with a hinge on it they make them I use them. And the number four rule also applies to PVC as well. I didn't see that seal tight strapped either 12 inch rule on that seal tight. Thank you Mike

I've been cut by more pvc in my career than metal . It's worth the 1.00 peace of mind in my book

Some inspectors will ding you on this in my area. I personally don't see how a pvc or NM connector is any more sharp or less insulated than an insulated throat EMT connector. Mechanically speaking it's fine interpretation of what is rounded and insulated is another.

The fitting is rounded and insulated. It's smooth and it's plastic.

Most companies have bushings available either in the connex ( trailer ) or in their vechiles. No reason not to put them on.

We had them in the 70s, nothing new. But you know they are supposed to be installed 'before' we pull the wire.

I'm still not clear...Do I need the bushing? I've had an inspection fail over exactly this and it was a real pain to fix. It passed conditional inspection (which the house then got power) and then failed on final.

Tbh, depends on the ahj if that's considered a smooth rounded surface. I'd say it wouldn't hurt to always have a bushing for conductors 4awg and larger

what I got from the video is basically this: yes it's required. But, the wire is already pulled and the inspector can fail you for this. A work around afterwards is to put one cut on a plastic bushing and install afterwards.

If you cut a bushing, then it's not good. You ruin its UL listing by cutting modification. What you need to do is to get a split bushing with a screw that is designed for this application.
