Fun fact: Monopoly was originally designed to teach the futility of capitalism, Everyone was intended to win at the game. kids pick up on parents emotions to regulate. they don't know what meaning to assign to something, like the girl holding the snake. she wasn't afraid of it, she had no emotional reference for it, so she just picked it up, like she would a stick. but when her mom saw it, she got scared and the girl picked up on the mom's emotions connected to the snake and instantly gave it meaning snake=scary/bad. hence the sudden reaction of fear in her. kids will do this type of learning up until the age of 7-8. especially with mom. this is why babies are not scared of anything, they just don't have experience/knowledge about something. they are completely in tune with their mom and dad. what mom feels, baby feels, even if the mom is not showing it, because adults control and supress their emotional reactions. the emotions are still their and small kids and animals can feel them.

I'm not a parent, but I've worked with 3-6 year olds and intend to do that as my full career after I finish my degree. It's so true that a lot of the time, kids just need to figure things out for themselves. They will NOT believe you until you let them do it. Eg Once when I was a kid I insisted I didn't want to go to the beach, didn't want to bring my bathing suit; when we got there, I was like "....I want my bathingsuit." My mom, being smart, had secretly brought it with her because she knew I would change my mind! Or I know a little kid (about 3) who, when you tell her there is "no more" of something she wants (like cookies), she needs to actually go over and see that there are none left. Then she's fine - she just needs to see it for herself lol

If you freak out, they will cry if you look at them and say you’re OK usually they’ll just be like OK I’m OK and just keep it pushin Edit… well I guess if I had just waited one more second before I paused and wrote this comment, I would’ve seen that this is exactly what it said in the video lmao

So that one where the kid almost drowned her dad? Almost happened to me, I was like 9 and my brother was 5, wanted to go underwater. I let him climb on my back and dove under, he PANICKED and started thrashing and shoving me down, every time I tried to come up for air he’d push me down again. It was absolutely terrifying and I am just so glad my mom got to us and got him off of me or I think we both would’ve drowned. Unless you can touch the bottom of the water, don’t put a kid on your shoulders!!! Esp if you’re nine years old 🙃

I had this same experience as a kid. I couldn't swim yet so my big sister offered I can get on her back and she'd swim us to the other side of the pool. We barely made it half way through the pool. I don't know what happened, but I remember we were both panicked, shoving and pushing the other down trying to come up for air.

I NEED Cody to know that the carrot thing is a lie. It was told in war so enemies didn’t know about night vision technology.
@jamesbowen20883 ай бұрын
That's not true. Britain was in the midst of a mass food shortage, so Walt Disney aided the British government in coming with the idea to release a news article that touted that carrots could help improve eyesight during nighttime. But, in fact, carrots were cheap and plentiful so it was just to get people to start buying carrots. I don't know why you "NEED" Cody to know it's fake though. Seems kinda weird.
@juggalettyjrb3 ай бұрын
@@jamesbowen2088 it’s LITERALLY where it started from. It’s weird how you want to come up with sass when it is in fact true. The British royal Air Force started the rumor. I NEEDED him to know because it’s an interesting fact. Google or an adequate teacher in school would have been your friend here.
@jamesbowen20883 ай бұрын
@@juggalettyjrb Read my comment. That's the origin of the rumor. It wasn't about "night vision technology" it was about trying to convince British soldiers that carrots would help them see in the dark.
@juggalettyjrb3 ай бұрын
@@jamesbowen2088 to HIDE the fact they had technology to see… it might not specifically be night vision technology but it’s was in fact to hide that they had advancements the other side didn’t have. At least that’s what we were taught in school and what anything I can find says.

The rant about leather couches was so cathartic. My parents had a car that had leather seats that were never comfy and it made me regret wearing shorts or skirts whenever we went somewhere. Esp in the summer.

You can tell how awesome of a parent Cody is gonna be in this video bc of how much he vouches for the kids even when they do something crazy, he’s so understanding
@6thwilbury23313 ай бұрын
Some comedian had a bit about annoying kids on airplanes, something to the effect of "I can guarantee it's 10 times more annoying for the kid's parent than it ever will be for you... the kid is going home with that parent." Pretty much cured any annoyance I've felt about screaming babies in the next row. That said, I can understand the "commercial flights" thing. I was fortunate enough to go two full years flying only charter. Work thing, we were always traveling a large group and it was cheaper/easier to charter flights. The next time I took a commercial flight, did the TSA line, etc., I bumped briefly on that very thought.

What Would Your Kid Do? is such an iconic show; I bingewatched their episodes on youtube in 2019 but haven't been able to find full eps since then--I hope you have better luck because the challenges that kids compete in to lead up to the final decision are also gold.

Okay, seals having rabies is something I've never thought about. I looked it up. While seals CAN get rabies (and in theory other warm-blooded marine mammals can too, although it's never been confirmed because them contracting it while being in the sea is immensely low), there has only ever been one documented time a seal had rabies, and that was a ringed seal caught in 1980 in Svalbard, an archipelago off Norway. So I think the person telling Cody that their friend died from a rabid seal was lying to him. lmao (Also, that was a sea lion in the video, not a seal. lol)

most people that are mad about babies on planes seem to think that the parents are just bringing their kids on a plane for funsies. like yall know these parents dont wanna be here either right? this was definitely their last resort option like i cant picture parents being like "lets interrupt our tiny child's delicate routine and take them onto a really fast metal tube full of strangers where they will probably experience their ears popping for the first time. that sounds fun."
@thedeviouspandaАй бұрын
It's that the parents don't get the kid some Nyquil or activities for the flight and just dgaf if the kid is screaming bored the whole flight. Also that's not what happened in the video. The girl stood on her chair to be nosy, stared at herself on the dude's phone, then started screaming about it. Her parents were still absent though.
@fawnieeeАй бұрын
@@thedeviouspanda yup. when my mother had to take me on a plane as a baby she would give my sister and I crunchy candy to help pop our ears and gave us UK kids paracetamol to help with the pain pressure and would distract us and made sure we had plenty of exercise so we would sleep for most of it. But most parents I see just let their kids run wild, feed them all sorts of sugar, don't give them any pain relief/coping mechanism for the air pressure changes and just ignore them until they're screaming nonstop and then they'll just tell them off and give them no coping mechanisms.
