"they're yelling from their diaphragms, that's not easy, you have to learn that" is so real
@flololo11 ай бұрын
it's not true though. you use your diaphragm to pull air into or push it out of your lungs, so every time you yell, you use your diaphragm.
@crabgal9 ай бұрын
@@flololoyes and no. Yelling from your diaphragm helps move more air and puts less strain on your vocal cords. You have to learn and practice stomach breathing in order to do it right. However, It has the added benefit of helping your voice carry much farther. I haven’t cheered for 8 years and I still yell as loud as I used to. I work in a large store and my voice projects halfway down the store
@flololo9 ай бұрын
@@crabgal yes, you can learn to engage it more and control it better, but no matter how (un-)skilled you are in that regard, it still always engages automatically for everything you do that moves air into/out of your lungs (breathing, speaking, yelling, etc.). it's impossible to yell without engaging your diaphragm.

I think the reason you side with some of the Darrens is because you take their account that they're screaming at ace value. 99% of the time they're lying completely and warping the situation to victimize themselves. The last guy is probably screaming about the most basic of noises like walking or whatever that can't be helped. I had an upstairs neighbor who would bang on the floor with her broom every time me & my roommie talked. like at normal volume.
@googleoogle10 ай бұрын
This is so true, most people have to have a pretty big persecution complex to actually end up hollering like that instead of talking it out or even just accepting it. I lived with a guy like this who would swear up and down he was the rational one, but would fully call the cops if a car he didn't recognize parked near the house and tear down garage sale signs and shit like that. he'd say "i just wanna live peacefully and be left alone" yea fuckin right.

This is only somewhat related, regarding similar freakouts from women or non masculine people. It does often seem like our capacity for understanding a person's freakouts are at least a little bit greater when we perceive them as male. I purposefully didnt talk about karens, because their behaviour has been proven unjustified. But it is more prominent to characterise non masculine people as bitchy after such antics, rather than masculine people. I'm spitballing rn, but it might have to do with a gerder norm perceiving masculinity as more logical and less emotionally expressive. Or even the fact that aggressive male outbursts are more frequent, perhaps creating more space for various instances of damage control, in order to mitigate overall emotional distress.

What’s funny about the SHAME video is that when I was younger my grandma used to say, “Shame on you!”, whenever anyone she was babysitting did something wrong. I thought she was say Shane (Chayne) on you and I would immediately jump on them. She knew what she was doing. 😂

Most of the time these karen/darren things are 'justified', just handled REALLY poorly, and escalated by both parties. The cameramen are almost always awful people too. Shame on everyone who senselessly escalates little disagreements for public attention😭😭😭😭 (of course some are unjustified and the people are completely unreasonable, but I think that's a small %)

THANK YOU. someone has to say it... most of the time the cameramen deserve more backlash than the karens, cause the way the genuinely purposefully laugh in the face of someone who is clearly angry and unwell at the moment is so fucking evil and pathetic. like, even if someone is unjustifiably angry, they are still upset, so unless they murdered your family, why not try to be a mediator.. instead they act like such assholes that you can almost see how someone may have gotten angier than the situation entails. and I am saying that as someone who almost never gets angry, and never had a reason to get really upset. people are just kinda awful all around. a lot of situations aren't as black or white as these "karen" posts will have you believe, and both sides just cannot fathom handling their differences like adults, and hearing the other side

We've reached an evolution of Karens where the Karens are aware of the meme but so unaware of their own behavior that they are the ones who pull out their phone to record the other person being a "karen" when in reality they're the one in the right.

Nah you gotta give people the benefit of the doubt. Especially on the internet when you don’t get both sides of the story and it’s encouraged to make people easily hateable. I appreciate that you take into consideration the fact that maybe Karen’s and Daren’s aren’t always in the wrong (at least not completely)
