I agree with Bobby. Multiple clippers and limiters on the individual or bussed tracks before the master bus, is the best way to avoid tons of gain reduction, at the very end. This, in turn, allows for the overall master bus processing to lift the RMS without pumping or killing transients (like drums) when mastering.

Limiters, clippers, and saturation are absolutely the best tools for metal in my opinion

Well, before I even listen/watch 4 seconds of this video, I can say my Recording Professor - the great Kirt Shearer (Paradise Studios; Sacramento, CA; discography ad nauseum) always stressed the importance of placing a limiter on every track. It's a Mastering Engineer's dream!

Clippers > Limiters

I use both. Both limiters and clippers can be used for different purposes within a mix.

@@FrightboxRecording I totally agree with you , Bobby Clippers do wonders on transit heavy stuff like a drum bus .. they add ear pleasing saturation while limiters are pretty clean
