I've been using them recently as Ambush units near my mortars and Artillery and have found them very useful; if nothing else, they are an effective psyop on the opponent as they have to think things over more, much like fausts in V2

Great synopsis. I agree that medium machine gun teams are much more useful in third edition than they were in second edition. They work well to boost your dice count as well. You can take three of them in a heavy weapons platoon for just over 100 points

I've been toying around with 2-3 of them in the lists I've been running recently, and I've been enjoying having that extra firepower where I need it for cheap. Cool to see different mixes of units in the new edition!

Fixed is kind of annoying, but if you position well, it's not a big deal.

that's been my experience so far: if you position them well, they'll do just as much good as a 70-90pt infantry section with 1-2 LMGs for way less. And only marginally less survivable. Been fun being able to break them out again!
