(I know, text-wall, sorry!): 3:58 I'm an old SC1 casual player just learning SC2 at 31 lol, and one thing I'm glad of for being old and less headstrong is how deeply I've taken on this mindset. All I've been practicing, until I can beat any of the Elite AI races and builds every time, and confidently, is the basics. I'm just gonna drill the basics until I can put out whatever army I want when I want, then worry about SCOUTING, and THEN worry about like... playing against a player lol. Love your vids btw - very accessible for I'd think just about anyone, and very helpful. I'm Canadian and I love your accent lol. Oh, and Protoss. Always been a Protoss :P Love the new units/mechanics. Back to practicing while listening! P.S. If anyone has advice on using Adepts over Stalkers, I'd love some. I'm not confident with my macro when I start actually microing, especially scouting/harassing, or my microing at all lol, so I just build 2 Stalkers, 1 Sentry, warp 3rd Stalker, and then 3 more when I have 3 Gates (and scout with Observers). I've mainly been using Immortals/Archons/Chargelots so I build into that after. Is the advice just "learn to scout AND tech up simultaneously"? Cause that's fair. Honestly, I'm partial to classic SC units anyways, and I don't really understand Adepts, conceptually.

I watched a lot of Harstem's stuff (after this shitty replay) and that helped me with macro for protoss. I'd recommend watching how he likes to warm up. Personally I was trying to learn builds back then and what I ended up doing is going into melee matches vs easy AI and just kept repeatedly doing the same build, practice it on ladder a bit and then move onto the next build. I got pretty good at doing parting's adept opener in PvT (the building timing, controlling.. well I'm still plat so says it all) into storm/archons, DT drops vs Zerg usually rushing storm on the back of it and instantly surrendering PvP because I just don't enjoy the matchup or understand it (my win rate is something like less than 20% PvP). I am not a financial advisor, take this advice at your own risk. I normally have the problem of building too many probes and not enough units as in my empty head the logic is more eco = more army, which is correct in theory but if you have no army to protect your eco you're gonna die, like I almost did. At our paltry level it's not hard to find the balance of risk/reward as everyone (including myself) is usually too much of a bitch to attack or just really bad at multitasking, hence we all get entertained by angry coach. Also when I first started playing I wanted to use IAC because zombietoss and A move.. then I played a bit more and the dumpster fire on display is the result. Someone should maybe revoke my Starcrafting license. I think the great thing about SC2 is there's plenty of guys with different styles you can go find guides from and follow.. as with learning anything everyone learns differently.

The Protoss opponent in the second game felt way better than Platinum, especially the 2700's which is borderline Gold. By 10 minutes they had proxied while probing up, got a natural, 2 robo's, a forge, a third, and was halfway finished saturating his third a twilight and a templar archives and a Robo bay - ALL the ground tech, all while controlling his army in front of the Zerg's base and warping in units. He floated, but he did too well for around 2700 MMR.

I wonder if they'd get the supplies dirty when they do, since like, the roach is essentially moving trough the depot at that point, since it's lowered to be under ground... also, why can't they move trough raised depots? wouldn't that be easier since they don't have to move trough the supplies?

@@emilypiens9900 Nah, there would be a void which the supply depot fills when it gets lowered. Roaches can't burrow through air, so they get stopped by raised depots.

I'm not sure if you read the comments Winter, but a good tip for improving mini map awareness is to cut out scrolling the camera to navigate between bases and instead clicking on the minimap/using hotkeys for camera navigation. It is good habit to learn since it makes navigation faster and you are looking at the minimap frequently.

Plus I'm specifically now practicing transitioning to the mid-game if I don't end it on the first major attack. I tend not to respond quick enough to changing enemy army composition, so I'm trying to combine that with my scouting practice. IAC works decently to transition to any Gateway/Robo army, and you can add Stargates earlier if needed.
