When Emily sought mental health help she was faced with years of misdiagnoses because of a lack of understanding of the link between mental health and culture.
As the child of a migrant and a refugee, she struggled to speak up about her mental health, but when she did, she found her culture being ignored, stereotyped, or unfairly blamed for her mental health challenges. So she decided to take matters into her own hands.
In 2023, Emily founded Multicultural Minds, a storytelling platform raising awareness of multicultural health by offering multicultural people a safe space to share their stories and drive tangible change.
