Tafhim Chowdhury I felt the same! it's buying those 0% alcohol drinks as an alternative to 0% plus alcohol drinks. they look similar but the content is different. so one can mistake you of drinking alcohol from a far distance. so we avoid things that imitate haram things to stop the confusion. He also said (may Allaah have mercy on him): There has been a lot of talk about Islamic nasheeds. I have not listened to them for a long time. When they first appeared there was nothing wrong with them. There were no duffs, and they were performed in a manner that did not involve any fitnah, and they were not performed with the tunes of haraam songs. But then they changed and we began to hear a rhythm that may have been a duff or it may have been something other than a duff, and they began to choose performers with beautiful and enchanting voices, then they changed further and began to be performed in the manner of haraam songs. Hence we began to feel uneasy about them, and unable to issue fatwas stating that they were permissible in all cases, or that they were forbidden in all cases. If they are free of the things that I have referred to then they are permissible, but if they are accompanied by the duff or performers are chosen who have beautiful and enchanting voices, or they are performed in the manner of indecent songs, then it is not permissible to listen to them. Al-Sahwah al-Islamiyyah (p. 185).

The best Halal alternative to music is the the speech of Allaah ('Azza wa Jal), the Qur'aan. And yes, there is a difference of opinion with regards to the permissibility of Nasheeds. But the addictive aspect of it, should also be pointed out. For example, eating food (that is Halal of course) is fine, but eating too much, can have many disadvantages, such as making you lazy, which in turn will make it very difficult for you to worship Allaah. So listening to Nasheeds (with the conditions mentioned in the video) is fine in general, but it can become addictive, so much so that it will have an opposite effect on you than the one it was supposed to achieve (i.e, to bring you to the worship of Allaah, etc). In addition, it should also be pointed out that there is a difference between singing and reciting poetry. The companions did write and recite poems, but they didn't sing as you see Nasheed artists usually doing. In fact, the Salaf regarded singing as a trait belonging exclusively to women. Thus, they regarded men who sing as effeminate. Moreover, we should be following the footsteps of the scholars. The scholars do not listen to Nasheeds, though some of them may view it as permissible. The scholars in general, do not concern themselves with these issues, because they are more concerned with issues that affect the 'Aqeedah and Eemaan of the believer. So like them, we should also busy ourselves with the book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam), which will help us boost and strengthen our Eemaan and 'Aqeedah.

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: As for that which is called Islamic nasheeds, they have been given more time and effort than they deserve, to such an extent that they have become an art form which takes up space in school curricula and school activities, and the recording companies record huge numbers of them to sell and distribute, and most houses are full of them, and many young men and women listen to them, and it takes up a lot of their time, and they are listened to more than recordings of Qur’aan, Sunnah, lectures and useful lessons. Al-Bayaan li Akhta’ Ba’d al-Kuttaab (p. 342).

Hence some of the prominent Shaykhs who permitted nasheeds at first were upset by what nasheeds and munshids have become - and this was before they found out about the video clips - so they retracted the view that it is permissible or they stipulated conditions for it to be said to be permissible. Among these prominent Shaykhs are: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him). 1. He said (may Allaah have mercy on him): I think that Islamic nasheeds have changed from what they were before. They were done with voices that were not enchanting, but now they are done with enchanting voices, and they are also accompanied by evil and corrupting tunes and they say that they are accompanied by the duff, but all of this means that one should keep away from these nasheeds. But if a man comes to us and sings anaasheed that have a sound meaning, and which do not include any nonsense, and uses his voice only with no musical instruments, there is nothing wrong with that. Hassaan ibn Thaabit used to recite poetry in the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Duroos wa Fataawa al-Haram al-Madani, 1416 AH, question no. 18.

I think so because on snapchat he videoed one of his friends and said "Don't worry this is one of the only safe ones left" or something like that. And also, When Dawah man made a video about ItsKhaled (siddiq) when he listened to that Sufi music. Dawah man was saying something like "even people who don't speak to me anymore and don't associate with me anymore but have worked with Khaled have came out and made a video about him" So i think maybe dawah man could've been referring to Ali and Ali could've been referring to Dawah man in the first quote. Also they don't make vids anymore. Idk tho this is just a guess, could be wrong but that's wot i thought init.

you said omar esa abstained from music yet he makes Muslim version of "Adele-hello" and many more. He had to listen to the music to create the "halal version" right?
@khawlaabdusamad59744 жыл бұрын
Omar Esa 4 years ago 'Bismillahirrahmanirraheem Assalamu Alikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatahu my brothers and sisters in Islam and humanity. I wanted to clarify why I have done a version of this song. One of the first reasons I want to point out is, I hear the original ‘Hello’ song everywhere, I can't go outside without hearing this song, it’s played on tv, on radio, shopping centres, even from people cars lol, it's everywhere. So as I write and compose nasheeds, I can pick up melodies that I hear very quickly Alhamdullilah, so because I have heard this song in many places without me knowing they will play this song, I picked up the melody and heard the lyrical content behind the original song, I don’t know the full meaning of the song and this is because I don’t listen to music, so I have not sat down and studied this song or anything SubhanAllah. It’s better to be clear on these matters, so no assumptions are made. So the reason I have ultimately done a version to this song in a voice only nasheed format is because I have seen and heard a lot of Muslims speak about this song, so I thought it is my duty to do a Muslim version of this song into a nasheed and talk about the most important relationship in a muslims life, Allah! And even in a non muslims life God is the most important relationship in their lives. Now my version is re-written, I have used the original song lyrics in just a few obvious places, there is also another point I talk about in my version of ‘Hello’ and that’s about, out of wedlock relationships between a guy and a girl, they are not from Islam, so if you like a girl ask for her hand in marriage and sister if you honour yourself marry him In'shaa'Allah. And lastly I wanted Muslims to have an alternative version to this song, when a song is so popular they are going to promote it everywhere, so the majority of this world will hear that song. So now In'shaa'Allah my Muslim and non Muslim brothers and sisters can listen to my version in their cars or homes In'shaa'Allah. Thanks to Almighty ALLAH (subhanahu wa ta’ala) I believe 'Whatever music can do, so can the voice and my voice is my instrument’ Alhamdullilah.'I FOUND THIS IN THE COMMENT SECTION OF THE VIDEO.

So many brothers and sisters in our community call something out to be 'haram', but never provide any halal alternative. Zina is haram, but don't get married till you have ____! Music is haram, but don't listen to permissible (according to many opinions) nasheeds! Etc. Also - don't these people realise that, by calling out each and every thing to be something 'haram', they are walking the tightrope? One mistake is all it would take to throw them into those that change/bring innovations to the religion.

is there a rhythm to the nasheeds? Eg 1234 2234 3234 where you know another word will follow on that exact moment.. Is there a certain tune to it?? A certain melody Where you can hum the nasheed without saying the word Does the nasheed stay in your head repeating?? Because of the rhythm and the tune... Is it something that comes to your head random moments especially during prayer?? Like twinkle twinkle little star.. (i have a baby boy so it comes to my head once in a while) Basically the point is, say you used a surah in the rhythem and the tune of twinkle twinkle little star without any background music isn't that exactly like what nasheeds are but with a different tune and rhythms that you can nod your head to??????????? Again I am no scholar/learned individual when it comes to our deen or music for that matter, but you should see how similar nasheeds are to the general music. Take away the words and listen to the tune and the timing of every word, and you will notice what I am trying to point out. Anyway Inn Sha Allah you get what I am trying to say there. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGGUlIhueN2im8U

True! The Nasheeds on time of the Prophet s.a.w. are not like the nasheeds that these people are doing today. We twist things so it can be convenient for our life not even thinking or feeling that it is not Islamic. Poetry is the description of nasheed but these people's doings are not nasheeds at all.

Brother Ali, why did you upload this video only in 360p quality? And I fear that Alfan Group may claim a copyright on your video and may block this video as you have used video clip from "Rahman Ya Rahman" Nasheed of Shaikh Mishary, they have blocked and claimed copy right on this Nasheed when I uploaded it on my KZbin channel. Even they blocked and muted so many Islamic Da'wah videos and lectures just because there was audio Nasheeds of Shaikh Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy in the starting or ending as background sound. Brother i saw this video as I was searching for anwsers. I've been trying to learn more about our religion hamdollilah and started with binging the stories of the Prophets and these video's contained huming and nasheed etc so I was wondering if this was okay, thats how I stumbled upon your video Subhana'Allah. This might have been the right timing as i remember the stories very well and can pull a resemblence out of them for this situation. As I understand where you're anwser is coming from but I see something far greater happening in this that I fear and please correct me if i'm wrong. But look at the stories of Nuh (AS), Hud(AS),Salih(AS) Shu'ayb(AS) how Shaytaan has deceived those people and I know what you think this sounds extreme but hear me out please. Allah has put these stories in the Quran not for our sake and amusement but to draw lessons out of them and learn from them, and in these stories all the people of the prophets they were deceived by shaytaan to do shirk step by step right? they either worshipped statues of good people, trees or themselves. Now shaytaan did convince them in 1 go, what he did is he started out as a good preacher sometimes saying look at this good soul he passed away how sad or to any other situation and conviced them to first honour the good in some way like a carving to remind them of the goodness it brougth . this could be applied to the tree or to people honouring themselves and it becoming a lifestyle and ideology. And it looked like a good thing not haraam to honour the good souls and remind them to do good right? that generation passed and the next ones came and what did he do? he said look they forgot, ur forefathers honoured them these are ur idiols the bring good, worship them and good will happen Allah u akbar. And every generationhe convinced them to go a step further. Now the resemblence im trying to draw here is with nasheed, its like u said an halal alternative to the haraam music we can't listen to? This could very well be a first step of shaytaan making us believe its innocent and a halal way of listening to something and before u know after several decades or years the next generation will forget what the difference is and small steps could ( i say could allah knows best) be taken towards who knows changing text you know one step could allow a certain sound to be allowed and then the next and the enxt and before you know insturments and beats are comon for 'halal' nasheed as time passes and people forget. That's why i think we should stay away from something the sahaba and our prophet saw didnt do at all. As you mentioned the other sheikh disliked it cuz the sofi's do it and the reason for that is something else, our proophet said you are the people u imitate, and we know they classify themselves as a group a different sort, didnt our prophet said only 1 group will be saved on the day of judgement and that is the one that follows my sunnah ( now this is an explination of the sheikh that prohibits it and not my opinion or thought but i also believe this). If there is very little certainty and proof from the Quran and the sunnah that its permissible, then why take the risk to be questioned about it? thats what i always tell myself upon everything i do now that im studying Islam. My brother this is again my opiniona nd wanted to share it to see where this goes and get a uniting understanding in shaa allah, if there are other things that i dont know as im just deeping myself into Islam then please let me know May Allah bless us all and have peace upon us and our Prophet saw

Also to point out that the whole argument of the Sufis do it so we shouldn't in batil. One of the most popular nasheed artists in the world is shaykh Mishary, a Salafi so that point is rendered moot. We are just as known for them as they are. If we are going to a abandon something just because the Sufis do it then we should not talk about Dhikir, zuhd/tassawuf, salawat, etc...
@naimaguhad52327 жыл бұрын
Muaawiya Langley Assalamu alaikum Just because a salafi does something doesn't mean that it is good or even permissible. Secondly, some of the things you mentioned are things that have been prescribed for us in the Quran and sunnahs and it doesn't affect our devotion or frequency of said acts even if deviant sects like the Sufi follow these practices
@muaawiyalangley72927 жыл бұрын
Naima Guhad That's my point. The argument of of any of the brothers who categorically say nasheeds are Haram because it's something the Sufis are known for. This argument is weak due to the fact that one, we are just as known for nasheeds as they are and two, just because to devients among the Sufis are known for something does not necessarily mean that we can't do it.

If a nasheed has music in it but the nasheed was calling towards goodness and the worship of Allah, would it be classed as halal?

Asalamwalaikum, great job. The message is pure, however I believe this song was mixed, there in an echo when the spoken word is being said, a mixer is a musical instrument. I think is should be edited one more time, without the echo, simplified. Just spoken word. Other than that I have no objections. Allah knows best. Asalamwalaikum. Thank you.

Brother, not only the scholars you qouted say it's okay, but also almost all the scholars in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Libya and very many others their opinions are just like you described. one more thing You mentioned Sufis, do you know who they are and what the Sufi Way (Sufiah) is? what it actually means?

The problem is you either get people who say everything is haram or people who say everything is fine, as long as you're Muslim it's cool. People need to realise that unfortunately not every issue is black & white, like salah, hijab etc and that in certain issues you just need to agree to disagree, if someone has evidence to back their argument then leave them be.

dear brothers assalamu alaikum, i allways watch brother ali's videos and have benefitted a lot and will continue to do so in the future. i disagree with your interpretation of music because it is not academically and spiritually right and i advise you to rethink about your approach to the subject. the use of a persons mouth as a music instument (so to mimic the instrument with human voice) in my humble opinion is same as using the instrument itself, if we take the shaytan anology here, he is actually making a mockery out of a person who uses his mouth as a substitute to music instruments. the same goes for using natural sound (water, wind and etc). it is same as bying a house through so called islamic banks who charge people the same interest as conventional banks but call it muzaraba to make it seem halal. i respect you and love you brother Ali and Musa.

@tanvirbashar30774 жыл бұрын
I mean when it comes to musical instruments, There is a difference of opinion but majority of scholars have said its haram and obviously instruments with bad lyrics and meaning is haram without a doubt. I just try my best to avoid musical instruments. Also there is a fatwa by ibn tamiyyah, that is good for whoever takes the view instruments are haram or something to avoid, that if you hear instruments you are not sinful but if you listen to it attentively or jam to it then you are but allah knows best.

Asslamu alykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu Mashallah awesome video. But if anything this should give you a clear insight to those people who support brothers like Deen Squad because they say, "this is giving people an alternative & bringing people closer to Allah". Deen Squad will probably claim their scholars say it's halal & they played it to them as well. Please address if possible. jazzahkum Allahkhyr.

Salam ali Ive been watching your videos for the latter half of the year or so- and i told my brother about your channel- and he told me that you are a wahabi? Can you respond to this comment- as i had thought that you was a sunni- muslim. I enjoy your vids and keep up the good work.
@MultiSlickguy7 жыл бұрын
MrArchitecture1 salaam brother, yes they are Sunni Muslims however, if I'm correct when you label them Wahhabis you mean that you are a Sunni who is a follower of Sufism and its branches for example naqshbandi/barelwi. These sects tend to refer to a lot of groups different to them as Wahhabis in a derogatory way. Forgive me for any mistakes
@MrArchitecture17 жыл бұрын
MultiSlickguy to my knowledge- wahabi muslims think muhammad (pbuh) should be praised as a human being- whereas sunni's show special care and respect to Muhammad (pbuh) - but i would love for ali dawah to respond so this discussion can be put to rest.. i dont think his actually clarified weather his a sunni or not.. (i might be wrong, if so please forward the video) im not trying to cause confusion or division.

I always heard the original salafi opinion is that Nasheeds are in general all haraam whether it contains music or doesn't. Also would you agree that the kibaar ulama may differ on many things.

The Shaykh is qualified in giving fatwah and opinions. Not us ignorant unqualified Muslims. I'm totally ignorant but learning. People stop being narrow minded it's truly not spiritually and emotionally healthy but your going to harden your heart even more. I've experienced it. Stop judging people. It's not fair and Allah loves good character and acts justly.

Sorry bros, i don't see how on earth Omar Esa can cover well known mainstream songs without listening to them. Adele - Hello - Charlie Puth Ft Wiz Khalifah etc all his covers. How does he cover these songs without listening to those songs? Surely he must have to catch the lyrics, to get the melody, structure and all that about the song. Brothers, careful please, saying one thing and doing another is not on. Don't sit there saying you dont listen to music when in fact you do. Love you guys for the sake of Allah, but honestly, please explain this to me. How does he learn these songs and then make covers of them????
