Freevalve is going to be a real game changer when it trickles down to bikes. Liter bikes seem to me to have the most potential to extract the benefits specifically because of the significant size difference in the cylinder heads giving manufacturers more options for engine placement. Performance wise, imagine a 999cc that has usable power from 4k to 13k with no dips or surges.

The funnything is Yamaha did a similar thing with the change from XS750 to XS850 to improve emossions. The increased the displacement by about 75cc, but slightly cut the performance. They went from Mikuni to Hitatchi carbs.

Absolutely. I have a 2020 Rocket 3 and I had to put an ECU tune on it to bring it back to where it should be, after the Euro5 cut it's balls off. It's still freaky pre-fix, but taking the leash off is a must. I still have to remove the cat box, so it still has more to give.

nice one, it sure gives an idea although i expect that the comparison to a stock 2020 model would reveal similar figures in HP; torque is obviously higher in the new one and coming in earlier on the rpm range so thats a very good imrpovement .. if only based on the numbers on paper i would not rush to trade in a previous mt09 model - however, given all the new updates Yamaha did on the MT09 ....

The larger engine on the 2021 is more powerful once you rip away all that Euro 5 trash restrictions and give it a full exhaust, flash and a tune with a K&N or Sprint filter it will have a higher potential. You gotta get yours un-Euro fived.

I wish I knew where I could get the ECU flashed on my new Honda Rebel CMX1100DCT. I put a Two brothers Racing exhaust slip on with baffle removed and wonder if I need to have it dialed in to richen up the mixture and cool the engine down. (I'd also like to get the speed limiter removed.)

I would like to know if the new SP was broken in correctly, or not. I own a 2021 SP, and my previous bike was a 2014 MT-09 that I dyno'd at 110 hp and 61 ft lbs of torque with full titanium akro and flash. I can tell you my SP has more, and is faster.

The only difference that makes the older model do more power is the rev limiter though. The newer bike has more torque, so at the same revs it makes more power.

If you arent changing the exhaust and filter etc., then skip the tune. Let the new owner decide. However I bet a tune on just the stock bike will get 10% more out of it.

You could talk to dynojet and see if they have a flash for your bike with the power vision. About $400 and you can do it at home.

Euro 5 is killing bikes, my slip on exhaust makes 2021 Euro 5 Guzzi v7 run way toooo lean, so having to put the stock pipes back on til a tune or something becomes available. Caused it to have hiccups under load, want to die out, so way too lean. Which even with the stock pipes it runs too lean.

And now do some roll-ons against Goldzilla and show people how much power to weight ratio makes a difference in acceleration.... :D I bet that the Yami will out pull Goldzilla from 30mph rollon to 100....jsut a guess on my part....and thats down 40-45 hp and 40 ft lbs or torque....but with at least 100 lbs in weight advantage...

You're right. I've got this bike, an 08 Aprilia Tuono 1000R, and a super lightened 98 Superhawk. Dyno is dead nuts even with what my hawk done with Kerker slip ons, gets trounced by my Ape. It will blister it on top end. But this bike seat of pants feels faster through the gears and from corner to corner just by the way it climbs through the revs . It's got quirks sure, but considering it only cost me a 100$ more than the Honda did back in 97, I'd say this is an unreal performance bargain.

Euro 5 manufacturers bump displacement slightly to lower the rpm and horsepower. Less rpm less emissions. Emissions maxing out. Cars had to move to turbos with v6 and 4’s as they are already EURO 6. No more V8’s or at least smaller V8’s with turbos. Last year for v12’s. Cars are so complex and expensive to repair especially out of warranty. EV’s will rapidly appear Just as fast as smartphones have taken over. Most European countries banning NEW petrol vehicles 2030-2035. USA more LAME version where 5o% new vehicles must be EV’s by 2030. USA added PHEV’s(hybrids) on the list for tax credit as Big 3 lobbyists know they can not catch up to Tesla’s IN HOUSE BATTERY PRODUCTION. Big 3 will add a little battery(hybrid) so as to sell a few more cars before bankruptcy. In a couple years GM lucky to produce 0ne million EV’s/year vs Tesla’s 8 million/year. Huge paradigm shift. GM Hummer and Ford 150 lightning will require twice the amount of batteries/vehicle vs Tesla’s advanced battery packs for same range. Chips and batteries are limited supply now. Amazing in short time smartphone/internet/Amazon/Uber/Instacart/Starlink global WiFi/Battery Storage(holy grail supply/demand grid), car WiFi updates, EV’s, moon/mar bases , wow!!!

Nonsense. Yeah, it's a change, but this cry for "argh, they're killing the bike" also came with the introduction of port injection, direct injection, ECUs, brake assist systems, etc etc. Bikes are still around, and will be for the future. Or does everyone want to go back to carburated underpowered oversized bikes like the olden days where you'd be lucky to get 30HP out of a liter of displacement? (which coincidentally needed service every 3000km) The only constant is change. Get used to it.

Change is not always right or necessary. Then again there's change and technological progress. Putting electric/induction motors in every god damn vehicle is not progress, just a political shift for "clean air" in 1st world countries, while displacing and creating pollution in 3rd world countries. These whole new euro norms are fucking garbage and I hope to god you guys in america don't live this hell we are in here in europe. Most sports cars are removed from the market just because they don't match "euro 5" and even if they did they would have a 40/50k tax on TOP of buying price. Imagine buying your 5.0 mustang for 70k, yeah noone would buy that so Ford and all the other manufacturers just remove products of the European catalog. Just like how Harley Davidson removed the sportsters from the catalog..... Fucking nonsense. If you're willing to be complacent and "used to it" with this constant change, be my guest and be a sheep, but that doesn't mean the rest of the world should.
