Addiction is a symptom of mental health issue. I’m a recovering heroin addict. They wanna send everyone to rehab and treat the addiction but not the underlying mental health issues. Which a lot of time is trauma related. Rehabs need to help with the addiction AND mental health side. They’re two different things.

She does have a family. She lived in Florida before, when she met Noah. Chicago is not as accessible, especially in the winter. I remember her saying when they first decided to move to Chicago it was for better medical care while pregnant but likely not permanent.
@ohminty9 ай бұрын
Chicago is one of the top most disability-friendly/wheelchair accessible cities in America. It’s also a huge hub for Disability Rights. And Northwestern has one of the best neuromuscular programs with doctors who specialize in SMA (Alex’s disability). That’s why she wanted to be in Chicago throughout her pregnancy. It’s actually pretty normal for women with SMA and other physical disabilities to give birth there. I think she moved to Florida cuz of the weather. I lived in Chicago for thirteen years and then moved to Miami seven years ago cuz of the weather. Circulation sucks for people like us so we are always super cold. So a lot of us are sun chasers. But Florida sucks for disability-related services. Like there are NO services. Unlike Chicago, there are no home services programs that pays personal assistants to take care of PWDs in their own homes. They rather throw PWDs into group or nursing homes so they can steal their Social Security checks.

Hi, Jane! I do see where you are coming from. However, my brother lived with me for four years when we were younger, as he needed a change of pace and location due to his addiction. So he moved in with me. But during that time, he also had to take care of me as a backup when my other assistants needed time off. While he took care of my ADLs when I was in a pinch, I supported him by going to four NA meetings on a weekly basis as his number one supporter. This was a very difficult time in our lives, but my brother will tell you today that if it weren’t for me, his “little big sister”, he would not be alive today. (Notice how he doesn’t say his “‘disabled’ little big sister.”) Everyone crumbles, overcomes, and heals differently.

If you are not together its time for you to move out and get a caregiver other than Noah and his family. I know you love Ari but it was so irresponsible of you too to have a baby. Disability has nothing to do with that fact. It is a poor discussion for anyone to get pregnant 3 months into a relationship. As a fellow wheelchair user , I struggled with your explanation of your black eye . Firstly you should wear a seatbelt when you are out to prevent falling , also you said you hurt your arm too , any fall on face / arm would lead to bruises on face and arm even grazes, you have none just the black eye . This is not possible so I doubt this is how you got a black eye.

That’s not necessarily true. Idk about Illinois where Ari was born but in the state I live in.. if you’re not married- the mom automatically has sole physical & legal custody unless a recognition of parentage is signed by both the mother and father.. even if the father signs the birth certificate. If recognition of parentage isn’t signed, the father has no legal rights or custody until paternity is established legally. If ROP is signed it gives the father the right to ask the court for parenting time but does not establish custody/parenting time. Depends on the state

Did you ask Noah if you could tell the entire world that he has BPD? I hope you did… but I would recommend as someone who Is also in recovery from addiction and has mental health issues (anxiety, depression, severe adhd- hyperactivity) that there is a massive stigma with borderline personality disorder and you probably should not talk about him struggling with it publicly… He could have a hard time finding jobs with that out there…. I am not the biggest fan of yours Alex but I do relate to Noah…. So please protect his personal struggles- this is your channel and your way of making money… not his… and what also affects his mental health and can lead to using is taking full time care of three people… you, Ari, and himself….
