Nurse practitioner here. I work with CKD and dialysis patients. Talk about a sick bunch of patients with multiple medical issues. I do my best to point my patients toward a low carb diet to prevent my CKD patients from needing dialysis and the dialysis patients can be healthier and qualify for transplant. Keep preaching. You’re saving lives, Dr. Berry, Dr. Fung, and the entire Diet Doctor team.

What about the development of an acidosis condition from eating an animal based diet? Isn't that also going to create an additional burden on the kidneys? Then there is the microbiome issue. Low fiber could cause dysbiosis in the microbiome? Need to feed the microbiome or there will certainly be issues down the road.

High protein low carb makes the blood Ph acidic which is hard on the kidneys . How as a nurse can you be ignorant of basic nutritional understanding ?

Poor Dr. Atkins. He took so much abuse from his peers when he told his patients to eat bacon and eggs. He’s probably up there shaking his head. He had the right idea all those years ago. Thank you, Dr. Berry for being such a medical warrior!

He died from his own teachings got dizzy fell hit his head on sidewalk . Atkins Carnivore Keto are wrong google "body's main source of fuel" . Tell me what it says . Diet should be mainly whole grains fruits/ veg not meats . Meats[ high protein] will ruin your kidneys .

I think Dr. Atkins was on the right track in 1972 and brought low carb to the publics atention. But I don't think the original Dr. Atins diet is where most of us have ended up today. And there were others who championed a low carb diet ;ong before Atkins. But for some reason they didn't get the recognition that he did. I think it was probably timing.

@biblebill6206 Where did you get this RUBBISH from? Robert Atkins DID NOT get dizzy. He slipped over on an icy sidewalk near his office, hit his head & died. We humans don't need ANY carbs! Carbs are for farm animals, not humans. Your statement about carbs is so wrong as to be RIDICULOUS! I laugh at their foolishness!

@royczak I believe he has covered this on his channel. I am assuming that you went keto and have your carbs under 50 grams per day? The cholesterol heart hypothesis was founded on a set of statistical manipulations from Ansel Keyes in the 1950's. That hypothesis has been revealed to be practically meaningless. Even Mr. Keyes recanted on his dietary recommendations before his death. Total cholesterol, by itself, doesn't really indicate anything. Even if you buy into this cholesterol hypothesis; you need to look at the ratio of HDL to LDL and triglycerides. If you are concerned about CVD, I recommend checking out videos on youtube by Ivor Cummins. If you are in your 50's, and you have this concern, I would suggest you seek out a local center that provides a CAC score, on a cash basis. The coronary artery calcium score is not the standard of care, but is the only test that will provide you with a baseline of the actual condition of your coronary arteries as they are today. If you shop around by phone, you should be able to find this service for under $100.00 cash. Aside from a diet free from processed foods and fake foods, routine moderate exercise is the next best thing for your body. There is a very strong correlation between high blood sugar and CVD. It is worth getting your A1C tested in your next physical exam. It should be under 5.5 or so. If you are insulin resistant, you need to know it. There are no symptoms of this condition. Type 2 Diabetes develops silently, and the symptoms are frequently missed by md's. Are you happy with your weight? Being pear shaped, and having large deposits of adipose tissue around the belly or waist tend to correlate with insulin resistance and CVD. Generally, if your waist size is less than 1/2 of your height in inches, then you are on target.

Dr. Berry, I know you have shared most of these details on your own channel, but the synopsis here is the most comprehensive and memorable I have heard. The insight into how liquid dairy relates to your GERD is particularly of interest. I am curious, does RAW milk cause this problem for you? And, do you distinguish between RAW cheeses and pasteurized ones in your own diet? Keto and Carnivore diets for autoimmune conditions such as hashimoto's is a fascinating subject. The causal linkages elude me, but in my case, my allergies are radically diminished, and my osteoarthritis has halted it's progression. It is pretty miraculous in this regard. Welcome to the N=1 world!

Then every 6 months, get that score checked. Did it go up? Did it stay the same? Did it go down? The real cause of plaque in arteries is sugar. The higher your blood glucose levels, the more damage it does to your arterial walls, the more cholesterol will go the the area of damage, and use calcium (plaque) to repair the damage.

I also was an LPN for 8 years, I hated it because I didn’t see any focus on prevention or healing, it’s all about prolonging misery as long as possible for profit and many doctors egos. I got out and work in education and have started my mostly carnivore journey. Modern medicine scares me too!

I saw Dr Atkins when I was living temporarily near NYC about 2003 when I was a young 35. He was NOT overweight for the record and through his advice was in the best shape of my life . I remember the lies used to smear him, especially after he died from a hard fall on the ice (I remember the ice storm) He was a pioneer and a personal hero of mine.

Yeah--the trash talking about Dr. Atkins is despicable. I saw him on the Larry King Show a couple of weeks before his death and he looked fit and was talking about playing tennis. He was overweight when he died due to water retention from massive amounts of steroids used to try to heal his brain. He was ahead of his time.

The doctor who did Atkins's autopsy in 2003 weighed him. He was obese. The same doctor examined Atkins's blood vessels. /He had a lot of cholesterol sores in his vascular system. Should I believe your lying eyes or the autopsy report and the medical doctor who sliced and diced Dr. Atkins in 2003?

I lost my mother to diabetes and dialysis. I lost my 59 year old husband to diabetes and stroke. If I had known then what I know now, they might both still be here. Thank you Dr Berry! I plan to be here a while longer.

You’re very correct when you say that some people just need the Carnivore diet. I’ve eaten Keto for several years, but sill had a weight struggle and arthritic pain. I’ve worked out for 12 years, so exercise wasn’t lacking. I’ll be 74 in April and am still working out and walking, but the weight thing had become very discouraging. In the past month, I’d realized I was one of the people who had to stay under 10 grams of carbohydrates per day. I prayed and asked God to lead me to what I needed to do. Last week I discovered Carnivore, researched it a bit, and went right into it. I’ve been eating this way for less than a week, I adore the diet, and the weight is literally melting away! My husband, 76 in March, decided to do it too. His BP normalized in a couple of days! I expect we’ll get better by the day and I thank God for you! (I was an RN.) Carol

When my doctor said, "great! looks like your meds are working". I responded, "I never took them". He looked puzzled and paused. I said, "I changed the way I eat and only eat low carb". He said hesitantly, "well, keepdoing what you're doing" I didn't have the boldness to tell him that I'm eating carnivore.

Hah! I’ve had a similar experience at Kaiser. They open my electronic record to check my current prescriptions and do a double-take when they see I take no meds at all. I’ve learned to just keep my carnivore lifestyle to myself since this info has sent some practitioners over the edge. Wanna raise my BP? Yell at me in the exam room about how meat will kill me. 😝

I love listening to Dr. Scher. He allows his guests to talk and doesn’t interject his opinion all the time. He also asks really good questions! Dr. Berry is consistent and authentic.

My cardiologist wasn't lying to me regarding my high blood pressure, he just didn't know what was causing it, nor did he care. Meds were his answer. I found this unacceptable, and fired him, so to speak. On my own, I had to determine what the problem was. Diet was the issue, and sugar was the culprit. I eliminated all sugar, and cut way back on grains. With my insulin under control, my BP came down to normal range. No meds whatsoever. My former doctor would have had me on drugs for the rest if my life. 40 years of chemicals in my body? No thanks. The Internet has its benefits ; ).

@Dolly Madeson What also helps bp a lot is garlic. For those who cannot eat a few raw cloves every day there's capsules. My mother took these and got hers back in the normal range, much to her doctor's surprise.

AND I bet you don’t feel hungry!! That’s what my friends (most of them medical professionals) don’t believe! I tell them, “The fewer Carbs you eat, the less hunger you have.” I’ve maintained a 55# loss for three years, feel great and rarely hungry. I can ignore the frequent pizza and potlucks at work, no problem.

Keep in mind, any restriction can lead to temporary weight loss. Meat prepared at high heat or especially with all these sauces will also lead to insulin resistance, so be careful with carnivore. It's not a cure all, ESPECIALLY without proper strength training + brisk cardio. A good variety of some organic fresh veggies you grow yourself is great for the microbiome too, though.

They can toss that food pyramid thing in the trash that we all were told was the dietary bible to good health. Dr Barry makes total sense. Been on keto for a month and feel unbelievable, lost weight, skin conditions have cleared up , blood pressure down, breathing is finally clear. I'm 65 and haven't felt this good in 40 yrs.

Fact...The food pyramid is lobbied by food companies in Washington DC. Pathetic. And then it's handed down to the teachers union which is also corrupt. No wonder people are sick. Doesn't seem like it would help knowing what we know today about cancel culture, censorship, big pharma and the hijacking of our education system. The new generation of doctors are programmed to follow protocols and be completely hands off and disinterested in getting to know patients personally and developing a relationship.

This brought me to tears! I've been "compliant" with doc's orders for YEARS! To the extreme in fact. Jogging an hour a day, 1200 calories of fruits/veggies/grains a day. COULDN'T LOSE WEIGHT. Diagnosed with Hashimoto's two yrs ago (Levo prescribed), extreme clinical depression (SSRI's prescribed), extremely high cholesterol (more meds), psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis (topical & methotrexate injections), heel spurs/plantar fasciitis (injections), daily hives & frequent full force allergic reactions(just had to live with it cuz doc couldn't even explain it), brain fog, bad gut/body inflammation, CHRONIC FATIGUE AND Strong Iron & Vitamin D scripts (although I work outdoors everday!!!....Yet I was getting sicker & feeling worse while being "COMPLIANT" and trusting of doc's orders(not to mention the oxy scripts for EXTREME joint & psoriasis & foot pain) and horrible daily constipation. Fast forward to today...Once I incorporated carnivore/ketovore AND Strength training/weight lifting into my daily life(no more jogging), I'm a brand new person! NO MORE MILK, Or grains....The weight fell off, muscle gained, joint pain/psoriasis almost gone, brain fog/depression GONE! Hashimoto's meds down to 25 mcg daily (TSH 0.5) No more t3 meds, antibodies almost gone, foot pain/inflammation almost non-existent, bad cholesterol way down, NO MORE SSRI's NO MORE PAIN MEDS!!! NO MORE DANGEROUS METHO INJECTIONS OR POINTLESS TOPICALS...Much more mental clarity, no more allergic reactions Occasional hives (from a little dairy now & then). THE ENTIRE MEDICAL COMMUNITY HAS TO BE COMPLETELY RE-EDUCATED and The pharmaceuticals to treat symptoms of diseases needs to be eliminated. The focus on diet should be at the top of the priority list for good health and doctor's orders! My rheumatologist literally said "diet has nothing to do with psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis!!! My endocrinologist LITERALLY says "diet has nothing to do with thyroid/hypothyroidism/hashimoto's markers" and my favorite "there's no point in checking your Hashimoto's antibodies, only your tsh will tell us what we need to know" I was blown away by these statements and proved both doctors wrong and I no longer go to these doctors! I have no gall bladder I eat low carb, high fat. I am looseing weight and feel wonderful and not hungry. I'm 73!

Yes, the gallbladder does not make the bile that helps digest fats. The gallbladder stores bile, which is squeezed out when a high-fat meal is consumed. When people avoid eating much fat for a long time, the bile sits in the gallbladder and begins to solidify, making gallstones. In spite of what physicians have been taught, and tell the people who hire them (aka 'patients'), gallstones are caused by low-fat diets. Also have no gallblader and doing fine eating Ketogenically. My only issue, ever, is that I struggle MAJORLY if I eat too much fat in one go. If I eat too much fat I spend more time in the bathroom, than out of it 😔

@@LS-my5fh I never eat fat without eating veggies at the same time, so not sure it's anything to do with that, sadly, I only ever eat fat on the meat, or whatever is on the food from olive/coconut oil from frying so not like I'm drinking bulletproof coffee or anything 😥 but thanks 🙂 I'll experiment with patting dry my food and see if that helps.

I am 36 and had my gallbladder removed at 16! After a 3month long extremely low fat diet.... I am convinced that’s what caused it I ate nothing with any fat in it at all Just salad white break and crackers I was thin But yeah had 17 tiny stones and they removed my gallbladder If I knew what I do now I would have started eating high fat and tried to dissolved the stones Anyone without a gallbladder should definitely be having digestive enzymes with there meals preferably with ox bile in them so you can really break those fats down 👌

I had my gallbladder removed in 93. I thrive. I have fibro, RA, CFS and Celiac disease. Thanks to Dr's like you two, I've done more for my health than any doc ever did for me. I had a total hysterectomy in 2013. I had PCOS, missed cycles and fibroids. I sure wish I knew about keto or carnivore back then. 😕 I don't take any medication! I do take some supplements.

"a bit of contrarian". That's why I like you so much! BTW at 305 lbs both knees were killing me. At 220 lbs one knee is pain free, the other pops every once in a while. A1C from 12 down to 5.3. No drugs.

I really enjoy all the Diet Doctor podcasts! But this one with Dr. Berry is more relatable than most of your interviews. Simply for the fact that he takes medical terms and translates them to English so the rest of us can understand! It’s simple and straightforward and candid. Sometimes we NEED that in your face style to get us to realize what we’ve been doing for so long is broken and wrong and needs to be fixed! Thank you for this interview.

Great interview. I'm a 55-year-old male who has suffered chronic gut pain and skin issues. The carnivore diet and drinking just water is simple and tasty, but you really need a medical reason to keep up the diet - good health or gut pain/skin rashes that burn, itch and take weeks to heal. I will choose the carnivore diet any day. I only eat 2x/day. My teeth and gums are much better too, as well as my cognitive health. I am much calmer and relaxed. I am afraid to deviate from it because I feel so much better. I wish I learned about the carnivore diet much earlier in my life.

"Whatever you're doing, keep it up" - that statement always infuriated me. Why is it never "What are you doing? Tell me about it". Somehow curiosity is trained out of doctors, and I suspect that ego plays a huge part in this. God bless the good doctors like Drs. Sher, Berry, Bosworth, Berg, Ekberg and others whose warrior spirits are making tangible benefits toward reversing the horrendous medical advice we've all received in the last fifty or so years.

I told my Doctor to her face that she lost her curiosity spirit as a doctor after med school. I said no matter what I say to you you will always have the mental framework of our relationship as the Doctor patient dynamic. Which inhibits your ability to observe, absorb new information from your patient. She is licensed and patients can not be of any value because they are without any credentials. I've had moments where she was shocked I knew what I knew and she would look dumbfounded. The internet is powerful. I love the decentralizing aspect of it.

I did not personally hear this my self, but my sister said that our mother said, while she was lying on her death bed from cancer, "Finally, I'm not hungry anymore". If that's not something to think about I don't know what is. She followed all the rules the doctors put out for her, she was always trying the newest Weight Watchers program, she even tried Nutrisystem, which worked way too fast, but she couldn't maintain, and it ultimately made her sick, and made her hate how she looked. Now I understand why she was hungry, and I wonder if she had been told how to eat to satisfy her hunger if she might have avoided cancer all together, and still be alive today.

Wow....... what profound statement your mother made... I spent most of my life, up until a few years ago, hungry ALL the time. I had no idea what I was doing it to myself through a VERY bad diet. Thank God in heaven that I finally got educated on the proper human way of eating. Food does NOT control me anymore, and I'm so thankful to be able to say.

It's pretty sad that i can't believe everything my Dr. advises me of these days, even nutritionists, specialists ect. Sad! Thank goodness for Dr. Ken Berry, i know he has taken a lot of flack from professionals and he's pretty awesome for doing this as well! I can't thank you enough for all of the time and effort you put into enlightening us on our health and how we can be healthier. Love, love, love your vids, i watch them quite often, some i have watched quite a few times, i have learned so much! I like to start my day with my coffee and a Dr. Berry video lol, but they always recharge me! Started Aug 26/19 and Dec. 15/19 i am down 48 lbs. My inflammation is about 70% better, i can even use my hands now as they were so incredibly painful. Bless you Dr. Berry, love you!!!!!

Don’t ever put your trust in ‘experts’, you need to take responsibility for yourself, when the ‘experts’ ‘advise’ was making you worse, and you stuck with it, that should be a slap in the face to NEVER follow someone because of some title a group of elitists gave him. Luckily there are doctors who actually want to help their patients, the ones that haven’t been offed, but they aren’t the norm… question everyone, don’t ever trust a politician, a lawyer, or a doctor. Look up the leading causes of death, after two years of extreme medical malpractice, doctors are not at #3, they are #1….

Love this,, I was cooking my Dinner and listening to this podcast and heard confirmation about why I am on this Diet.. Besides my weight loss of 53 pounds so far and getting off every single one of my Prescription meds, of Statins, Blood pressure, Heart, Thyroid, and Diabetis, my favorite was 2 months into my diet I no longer have acid reflux.. I have suffered Severe Gastritis for 30 plus years and was taking 60 mgs a day for it.. NO More .. I will NEVER again eat sugar or Grains because I found that doing so ACTIVATES my symptoms .. So, You are my current Favorite Doctor ,, I threw the Calories out the window and eat mainly Meat, Eggs and Butter , very few greens and berries., but, over-all, I will stay on this the rest of my life .. By the way I will be 66 years of age on the 3rd of January 2020 and I am looking Forward to this next year because this past year started my Keto Journey and now I am gonna just Live it! K2 and D3 cleaned the plaque out of my veins according to the angiogram. I put Natto, a fermented soy bean, in soups, meat loaf, and even in cookies. I ate that stuff for around 3 years and got rid of the plaque. You can be skinny but still be plugged up in your veins.

I went to a Dr. Who was so over weight and so sloppy. He sloped in his chair he could barely keep focus on what I was saying. He didn't even look at me. I felt like I was wasting my time and money just being there. I thought he was a joke. I went in for GERD and all he did was put me on Prilosec. I did my own research and did keto, intermittent fasting and worked out and my heart burn went away. I lost 50 lb win.

I went to Cardio Rehab after a heart attack. Nutritionist gave me their diet. Heavy in whole grains, vegetable oils (Canola was in BOLD at the top!) , low in sodium. I followed it to the "T" and felt like crap. Muscles wasted, couldn't get out of bed in the AM. Statins, BP meds, the whole nine yards. I went low carb/ketoish, and now, I dropped all meds, lost 40 lbs, BP 128/80 (at 64 that's excellent!) and cardiologist knows that I am on the right track. We agree completely on the diet I chose. My PCP is having a fit. Thanks for all that you do Drs Scher and Berry. I am sure this information will soon be censored with the grain fed push toward vegan bird food..

A few years ago I went to my doctor for an ear infection. I happened to have lost 25 lbs on Atkins & he asked me what I did to lose weight. When I told him he just said "Oh" like he was expecting me to say something else. Then he changed the subject real fast.

No dairy is included but lots of plants (half vegetables and some fruits), some protein from meat, fish, eggs and plant sources (pulses) making up 25% of daily intake and whole grain carbs, also no more than 25%, including brown rice and quinoa. Water is recommended only, not milk.

@Dolly Madeson Dairy is highly inflammatory. Blue Zones people do not generally consume it. Calcium from cow dairy isn't absorbed well by humans in any case. Cow's milk is for cows.

Thank you so much for probably saving my life here. I have felt I had a problem with sugar for over 2 yrs. My Dr said no sugar prob. about 2 yrs ago. This Dr decided that I am Prediabetic 2 mos ago, after I insisted I was very ill, every time I have any sugar. The Dietician then gave me instructions to eat Oatmeal for breakfast with Berries, I could have one slice of Bread daily and 1/4 of my Meals could be Carbs. ETC.... I have gained 12 lbs in 2 mos, am bloated & miserably sick. I was losing all HOPE!!!! I literally feel like I am dying. What an eye opener. I am watching all of your videos. Thank You... Thank You.... Thank You !!!!!!

Some carbs are good- used for fuel. The problem is people go too extreme. ALL carbs or NO carbs. Less carbs is good.

@@MOAB-UT you don't need carbs for fuel and there's nothing extreme about zero carbs. I've been zero carb for 6 months and have more energy on mountain hikes than I've ever had and I've been keto (20 carbs or under) for 7 years. Carbs are not a macronutrient. If carbs were necessary for fuel I wouldn't be able to hike 22 miles with 4000 feet of elevation gain in a day without even eating anything all day.

@@MOAB-UT yes I only eat meat now. When I was keto I got my carbs from things like broccoli and cheese. I was also still using artificial sweeteners. Now that I've cut those out I lost 20 pounds and weigh the same as I did in high school (I'm 49 years old). I eat as much as I want but stay strictly meat. I mostly eat 80% ground beef due to cost but also eat ribeyes, chuck steaks and sirloin tips. I eat pork like bacon, pork bellies and pork loin. I raise chickens so I eat eggs every day plus I like lots of seafood such as clams, sardines, shrimp, lobsters, mackerel and salmon. I only drink water but some people who do zero carb still drink coffee and tea.

I don’t have a gallbladder and I don’t think I’ll ever get off Keto. I LOVE it! I feel so much better, my digestive system works SO much better, I have energy again, I’m losing wait without effort, my skin looks great, my mind is clear, headaches are gone, no more hormonal swings, no more endometriosis pain .... I could go on and on. I eat an average of 15 carbs a day. About 80g protein, and lots of fat (130g-ish).

Dr's Thanks for your honesty. It's the vibe i've been picking up over the last few years that as people collectively learn more truths that we must humble ourselves and admit, 'We were wrong... now let's move forward.' And i don't resent a doctor saying 'I gave wrong advice to my patients', this out of ignorance, following guidelines from Governments and the respect for those mentors you looked up to. But I appreciate that you are still willing to learn and improve. I work in mechanical engineering, and the machines haven't cared that 30 years on I still want to improve myself, but you are leaders. Your people want you to save them. Don't be so proud and go help your people.

I have started Carnivor plus OMAD and have lost 25lbs in about 6 weeks. I am not hungry, no cravings, and I don't have to count calories. I feel great and my blood test values are excellent. I have tried many diets and have always rebounded. So far this is working great for me. FYI don't watch food porn or TV commercials about snack foods, they can trigger you to crave sugar/carbs. Yeah. While I was listening to Dr Berry talking about the lazy thinking, hiding data, consensus thinking in the absence of hard evidence, I couldn't help thinking of its similarities to the climate change orthodoxy. There are probably lots of other fields of 'expertise' that are like this too.

I was 67-68 when I emptied my fridge and cupboards of all high carbs and sugary starches, and went low carb that day. I've went into what I call remission from T2 Diabetes, no more arthritic pains, lost 30 lbs, now at 113, 5'2", workout at gym 3 x per week, walk at least 30 minutes 5 out of 7 days a week, sometimes every day. I don't remember ever in my life have more muscle, strength or feeling better. Good thing because 5 months ago I decided to do a slow taper off a Benzodiazapine that was prescribed and if it weren't for low carb, I believe I would be suffering more withdrawal symptoms, and not breezing through this taper so well, thank you Dr. Berry and Bret as well, 2 of my fave people. Thank God I can listen to you online because we just don't have the "right" kind of doctors in my town :( But I rarely need them ;) Only go for labs, that's it ;)

I tried the whole foods plant based, LOW FAT diet for several years because I was afraid of getting heart disease like my grandpa. When I started eating this way, I was about 150 lbs and was fairly healthy. Over the next several years, I gained 45 lbs, developed super bad acid reflux to the point where I would wake up choking on stomach acid in my sleep, which eventually lead to a diagnosis of EoE and a subsequent daily PPI to turn off stomach acid. By the end of 2020, I was so sick I could barely walk, my cholesterol was 129, HDL - 39, and I was super fatigued all the time. Worst of all, the food I would eat would literally sit in my stomach for days before finally digesting. Always full, never hungry, but starving from the inside out - yet I was still 195 pounds. When I made the switch to a low carb high fat diet, my acid reflux issues began to resolve to the point where I was able to throw away almost a full bottle of my meds a year ago and haven't needed one since. My digestion is getting better and better every day, my energy levels are improving, and I'm more satiated with my diet than I ever was with the low fat vegan diet. I've lost a few pounds, but nothing major just yet. I can only assume my body is still working on correcting itself after going so long without much fat in my diet. There are still some days where I begin to panic because I'm eating more saturated fat than I have in years. The heart disease scare is real... but then I remember how my body FEELS. If I need to take a pill just to make the diet work, it ain't really working.

Doctor Berry, thank you for giving my husband the confidence to finally take my advice which is “Your Advice”. He is classic “skinny fat”; has also had one stroke at 58 and on his way to another! I had resigned myself to losing him too early simply because he is so stubborn, wanted to rely on medicine to manage his condition. He ate as he had before the first stroke. Nothing I did made an impact. His last blood work was a disaster and he has been taking his medication faithfully- I think his lightbulb went off and I sent him one of your shortest videos. FINALLY he watched it and has been on board for the past 10 days! Doesn’t seem like much, but it is huge! With 403 triglycerides fingers crossed we can reverse this in time before another major event. 22 hdl, very low ldl too! Nothing working for him but your guidelines! I’ll keep you posted!

I went to a therapist for a reffer to a phyciatrist for ADHD. She asked me if I needed a nutritionist and I said no thank you I lost 50lbs on keto and have brought all of my ADHD under control with diet except focus and concentration. But, she looked shocked I had lost so much and I told her it's free and within my own control. Lol. Surprised Pikachu face 🥴

The "proper human diet" love it!!! I lost 45lbs in 6 months and both look and feel great. No more meds, high BP and cholesterol and glucose at a better than normal reading. Stop eating processed foods and sugars and switch to hight fat, moderate protein and low carb. Goodbye to mental fog and several other health issues. The keto way of life is truly an anti aging phenomenon. Just do it already!

Dr. Berry, I went to a diabetic dietician last Monday. I've had severe hypoglycemia, not diabetes, since I was inside my mom. She ate fake sugar, margarine, shortening, vegetable and canola oils. I was born 1979. My mom was in the no fat, no sugar minds t and she was a nurse, so she was dedicated. Yet she would make tons of baked goods and so my blood sugar would swing all over. I suffered all the hypoglycemia symptoms in lists I've found, except coma and death, my whole life. I have almost gone blind and suffered more than I can tell you here. I have had almost no hunger and lived off coffee with sugar and half and half for years because I needed to keep my blood sugar up. After my appt last Monday I began studying what she said. She didn't want me to eat high fat carnivore like I'm now doing, but she kept saying I had to eat 3 times a day and had to have protein. Somehow the vids led me to this diet. I began transitioning Monday evening and have been only high fat carnivore since 2 am Wednesday. My blood sugars have been between 93-123, usually between 101-119. So many symptoms are already going away. I've had no sugars, carbs or plant foods since starting Wednesday morning. I took a ketone test Thursday and was at 15. Friday ketones were 40. Will take another later today. I am so appreciating your vids. I am a hard core conspiracy theorist realist on Facebook and a narcissism coach oh TikTok. I have a mom who is a nurse, so is my aunt, my brother in law was a doctor but he died 2020. My exes aunt was a nurse. I grew up having multiple family friends who were doctors and their kids, my age became doctors. My sister in law is a nurse practitioner. I would talk to them about my health problems and they all said the same things that didn't work. I e tried so many quality diets some high protein, some balanced, even raw plant food vegetarian. It only worked for a couple weeks then I would get sick and weightless plateaus and many health issues plus exhaustion. Ive even taken 22 homeopathic supplements costing $3,000 for a year and no matter what, even if I would lose 20 pounds, nothing ever keto working and I would gain more back than I lost. I got pneumonia years ago and lost my appetite and never got it back, but now am finally having hunger for the steak, eggs and butter Ive been eating. I have been told I have abdominal lipoma under my skin. Can this help shrink those? Will "Exipure" help me lose the lipoma without surgery? What about natural food based ways to get the right electrolytes, vitamins and nutrients? I have a theory, that plant based, sugar carb dependent diets require aerobics types of exercise. But I wonder if high fat carnivore is better with strength building muscle training??? I think walks or jogs might be good too, but I used to do aerobics to try to lose and it always exhausts me but doesn't make me lose weight. I wonder if aerobic is sugar fuel based. I wonder if muscle building is fat carnivore based. I am a conspiracy realist a out many subjects, so I immediately understood the food conspiracy as y'all carnivores were talking in your vids and you're spot on. I see it. I'm all in. I have little to no sugar cravings now and I got to the point of hating sugar and carbs because I was so dependent on them day and night my whole life. So I don't miss them. I'm completely relieved I don't have to eat them. I am also wondering, how do we know if we have a kidney problem or if this is being hard on our kidneys. I was in hospital Feb 28- Mar 2 with sepsis, urinary Tract infection, infected bladder then kidney then blood. My left kidney has been sore the whole time and I can't get a doctor to look into it for me. What can I do and how can I know if it's ok or damaged?

YES! However, Dr. Berry is unaware that milk and milk-based foods have been in the human diet far, far longer than imagined. Obviously, all humans started out with milk a their sole food. Breast milk was likely a very important part of the diet of human for years after birth. Also, other animal species DO consume milk whenever they can get it. When predators kill a lactating animal, the first thing they consume is the udder with the milk inside. Even before they eat the liver, or other viscera. (This is probably the origin of at least some of the stories about 'aliens' 'mutilating' cattle. ) Farm animal like swine and poultry will readily consume milk, and do not have to 'learn' to like it. Even free-range pigs/hogs and poultry, not just confined animals. Milk-fed, or buttermilk, and/or whey-fed pork used to be a specialty of certain countries or regions, and was famous for its quality. The hams were shipped all over the world at premium prices. When going for record high production from dairy animals, milk was not uncommonly fed back to goats and cows, especially when the value or prestige of having a record-holding dairy animal, or a breed leader in milk production exceeded the market value of that milk. Even more than other predators, early humans targeted not the old and sick animals, but the 'fat and sassy' animals in the herd - which were typically females, often lactating. While milk production peaks a few months after their young is born, animals like cattle and horses continue to produce modest amounts of milk and allow their young to nurse for nearly a year, sometimes until just before they deliver their next offspring. Early humans co-operated to run entire herd of animals over cliffs, or into gullies, canyons, deep mud, etc. it is difficult to single out one animal from a herd, but astonishingly easy to move an entire herd together. The people of the Andean highlands still round up vicuna this way, with everyone, including young children and babes in arms, helping to herd the animals into ancient stone corrals in what they call the chaccu. Herding cultures domesticated animals long before most anthropologists or archeologist are aware. They tend to think that this occurred after the relatively widespread cultivation of crops began, when artifacts show animal being used to plow or pull carts. Yet it is a small step from following the herds, as early humans were known to do, to herding. In terms of artifacts and the affects of diet on human skeletal remains, the difference would be slight or non-existent. While there are some differences in the milk of different species, milk is more alike than different. Human milk is higher in lactose than cow's milk, and is more similar to mare's milk in that way. In addition to cattle and horses, the milk of reindeer, goats, sheep, camels, yaks, and water buffalo is still being used by people. Eland (a large African antelope) and moose are also milked. It is said that moose cheese is the most expensive cheese in the world. (Cheese tends to sell for far more than fluid milk, and keeps far longer.) Of course these people were consuming milk and milk-based foods that had not been industrially processed. Yogurt and cheese happen fairly spontaineously: fresh milk left in a warm spot 'clabbers' or becomes yogurt. We make it this way ourselves- no cooking, no added cultures. Milk carried in the stomach of a young animal (water-proof vessels were frequently made from animal parts, like wineskins mentioned in the Bible) interacted with the enzymes in the lining of the young animal's stomach, resulting in cheese. Most everyone who has 'lactose intolerance' has no issues when consuming fresh, unprocessed milk. Raw milk contains both naturally occurring beneficial bacteria (aka 'probiotics') and lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose. This also explain why few infants experience lactose intolerance when consuming their mother's milk. A breast-fed baby (the young of a human) is consuming that milk raw. There are a number of other differences between the white liquid sold in supermarkets and 'un-fooled around with' milk: - Industrial processing destroys the beneficial bacteria, aka the probiotics, as mentioned; - The beneficial enzymes, including lactase, are destroyed by the heat treatment. - The fat is reduced to 'standardized' whole milk levels of 3.25% butterfat. The milk of Jersey and other heritage cattle breeds can be as high as 5% or more. The cattle of the Masai reportedly produced milk that was around 8% butterfat. Even the modern commercial American Holstein will produce milk at 4% butterfat when fed a high forage diet based on pasture and other forages (hay, fermented hay). - The fat globules are artificially reduced in size, to prevent the cream from rising. The smaller butterfat particles can more readily cross the gut lining, especially in people with leaky gut, those who consume plants that damage the gut lining (see Dr. Paul Mason's KZbin video on lectins), or those who consume processed foods containing emulsifiers. Emulsifiers are found in frozen foods, and also in many milk-based foods. (A dairy is a room or building where milk is handled and cheese and other milk products are made.) - The heat treatment of pasteurization changes the structure of the proteins in milk. - The vitamin content is reduced, and some vitamins naturally found in milk are damaged or completely destroyed by the pasteurization process, including Vit C. - The fat-soluable vitamin content is reduced three ways: 1.) By reducing the overall fat content of the milk; and 2.) the above-mentioned heat-treatment, and 3.) Industrially produced milk comes from animals fed a grain and soy-based diet, with little or no access to fresh pasture. Those grains and soy are virtually all GMO (lab created, not selected) and frequently loaded with toxic synthetic chemical residues. Nearly all raw milk produced for sale in the U.S.A. comes from small, pasture-based farms (not 1,000-10,000 cow operations). - Immune factors naturally present in milk are destroyed by the processing. - The milk from cows on pasture and especially 100% 'grassfed' cows (a grain and soy-free diet consisting only of forages) is significantly higher in Omega 3s. The levels of Omega 3 in 'grassfed' milk and milk products from the dairy, like 100% 'grassfed' meat, are high enough to make consuming oily fish unnecessary. (Dr. Paul Mason) NOTE: UNLIKE the Omega 3 found plants (and just a few; flax aka linseed being the most common dietary source) the Omega 3 fatty acids are in the correct form to be assimilated and used to support brain development and function. - The A1 protein found in the milk of certain cattle breeds is also an issue for some people. The A1 casien mutation is common in cows in industrial dairies, though the use of bulls that do not carry that mutation is become more widespread and and will gradually reduce the incidence of A1 milk. Most raw milk producers select cows that are A2 A2 and do not produce that altered protein. This protein apparently only occurs in cattle - not goats, sheep, or the other species whose milk is consumed by humans. Not everyone needs to consume milk or milk products. However, milk is very similar to blood, which was also a staple in the early human diet, and still is in many regions. Herding cultures developed a symbiotic relationship with the animals, protecting them from other predators. Milking them literally allowed them to 'have their cake and eat it, too'. The Masai may be best known for living primarily from the milk, blood, and meat of their cattle and goats, with only incidental if any consumption of plants, but numerous cultures around the world also relied heavily on the milk of their animals. In certain climates, including alpine regions (European Alps, Tibet), boreal forest and tundra (reindeer herders), and dry and/or cold grasslands (Mongol herders, herders of camels, sheep, and goats in North Africa, the Middle East, etc) pastoralism was the only way to survive. Common sense is just not that common. Thank you both! Even after a 425 insulin reading, I tried it The drs way. Didn’t change anything! I started eating fats and meat. I cut out sugar and carbs. In less than a month, I felt better. I saw dr yesterday and with her telling me” you’re doing great” she started insisting I put carbs back in my diet. I lost 10 pounds and my insulin readings were down in low 1 hundreds. Thank you all that have common sense! 😊

I have a nurse friend who has now asked me more about what I am doing. She remarked on how great I look. I should add that I am approaching 69 years of age. In addition to keto & fasting, I also do resistance training and walk. My friend has talked to me for years about letting food be your medicine and avoiding medication. She spent a lot of money on a nutrition course with the goal of becoming a health coach, but her diet is low in protein & high in carbs.

I am not on a carnivore diet (perhaps yet) but I am on low carb, below 50-60g net carbs per day. I Eat a lot of meat and fish and exercise regularly. I love vegetables but I am cutting progressively those that I identify as messing with my gut and digestive system. I produce kefir myself and drinking 2nd fermented kefir makes me feel energetic every day. I stopped drinking alcohol since 2 years and do not eat any added sugar. I feel great, never felt better. My allergies have all gone away, i have not been sick since 2 years and my energy level is through the roof. I sleep 22:00 to 05:00 and wake up naturally full of energy. I encourage everyone to listen to Dr. Ken Berry and I agree with all he says in the conclusion

Yet you are right - the promotion of industrially processed foods for so many years, by industry directly and through organizations like the American Heart Association and other organizations that industry basically paid to promote their products, and the way industrial agriculture corporations (especially the chemical manufacturers) and processed food corporations also influenced medical education... the influence of the pervasive message grew. The story of how Proctor & Gamel got the AHA to help them market hydrogenated cottenseed oil (later other oils were used) which was invented for making candle and soap, as a substitute for a natural fat that humans had been eating and using for cooking as long has humans had been cooking is one example.

Im really glad I started watching you. Ive recently have really started taking my health importantly, upon discovering that most of the fruits and veggies have hardly enough vitamins and minerals I decided to take a different approach by using herbs which high mineral and vitamin densities in the morning, and then everything else I can supplement from a healthy diet. Basically create a structure and then build on top of. It has done absolute wonders for my health, I have so much more energy, focus, clarity, happier, and I've also dropped an enormous amount of weight this month of 15 pounds. Last night I had a smaller dinner, and I usually have a fruit smoothie in the morning, and then fast until dinner, but today I was more hungry than usual so I did not fast, I ate lunch, whole grains and I noticed that for the first time in a month I was tired and I ended taking a nap. Right before I took a nap I started watching this, and thats when I realized that carbs, which for the most part I've been staying away from this last month is the cause of my tiredness. This is great information, thank you Dr. Berry for your wisdom and knowledge.

My father was always borderline type 2 Diabetes and in his seventies all the old tricks wouldn't improve his rising blood sugar .He decided to trythe wheat belly diet ,it worked like magic and all his aches and pains went away too. I was advised surgery for nose blockage by two ENT specialists. One said it is urgent. But two others gave me medicines and helped me for about an year. But i started taking turmeric pepper cinnamon ginger lime juice in warm water first thing in the morning and on third day pain inside nose went away. now have added fruits vegetables stopped eating sugar and my health has improved greately.

i decided long ago to just not listen to my doctor, about WHAT to eat. i found paleo a few years ago, whichlead me to keto (a simpler and cheaper paleo alternative. and that then lead me over to zerocarb. and now i just eat meat, fish, and cheese

@@Givvemhell you don't need them, there is hardly any bio-available nutrition in plants, except for carbohydrates and all the fiber just causes constipation

Lol, an easy shopping list ! I agree, I spend less on food being on keto . My fridge is almost empty but I'm not starving , my food doesn't take as much space now. The shopping list is shorter.

@@jogratitude1908 cooking is easier too, just a grill pan to grill the meat, no need to cut up vegetables and stir several pans

I just started a low carb diet, and even on my weakest cheating days, I can feel a difference in how I feel. I feel more alert, more energy, and I just started 2 weeks ago. I believe in this proper human diet 100%

It really is worth it. I've been low carb for 1 year now and have had amazing results all round. One tip is to make sure that you have acceptable food handy if you feel you want to cheat, and also make sure that you have some real food meals that you can whip up quickly so you aren't tempted to just grab something.
