Advisory Notice! This is not our normal sort of video!
It's just me having a vent about how people seem to be behaving. Complaining. Demanding. Criticising. That sort of thing. Oh, but it is filmed against a beautiful snowy backdrop in North Yorkshire! And you get to see my secret shelter - everybody should have one of those.
Normal service will be resumed on Sunday.

*I NOW LIVE IN BULGARIA* and I have to say, I have noticed that people in the UK and the USA spend a lot of time ACTIVELY LOOKING for things to be offended by, I used to do it. Now I look back and its embarrassing, people don't behave like that here, but I was just a normal British person, LOOKING for things to be offended over. I think it comes from the level of control the government and large businesses have over every aspect of your life; people take control of the tiny things they can.

That’s really interesting. I’m 55 and in reality, there has always been a complaining culture here, but I do think it’s got worse in recent years. People love to quote the law at you here. They haven’t studied it - the law is what they think it should be. You know, what suits them at that particular point in time!

@@WC21UKProductionsLtd - The less control people have over their lives, the more they take control of the things they CAN. Eating disorders are not usually a result of wanting to be slim, more often a result of very overbearing controlling parents, people need to feel they have agency in their life, the mass surveillance and the fining for every tiny thing in the UK whilst simultaneously having no chance of buying a house or having a long term career is VERY oppressive, people feel completely out of control. So they take control of what they can. There are about 7 park benches in my sister's village, but if her son [14] sits on one to listen to music, people are INSTANTLY out - videoing him, telling him to leave, what does he think he is doing, they will call the police if he does not leave. He is JUST listening to music, gone for a run, having a breather and listening to music. But THEY control the bench. Its THEIR domain.

I was born July of '65, but I think, technically, I'm Gen X. (?) I agree with you -- people are becoming more, I don't know, annoying? Irritating? Self-absorbed? Entitled? Jack-Assic? (My spin on it.) As a Canadian, (a Nation renowned for being polite), I have to say it's just overwhelming at times, and I find dealing with humans to be exhausting. So, I bought 80-acres of woodland in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. I work out in my private forest; I feel the wind blow through me and hear the birds and see the wildlife. It cleanses the psyche and refreshes my soul. Yet, even after that, I still want to stay away from people. Enjoying your rambles and rants. Cheers from the Willamette Valley.

What's wrong with people ? I am 68 and worked from 14 yrs of age until I was 65. Without any breaks in employment, I was too busy to complain or moan, but it seems many are petty and small minded. I have dealt with many stressful incidents as a Fireman, Prison Officer, Forensic Nurse. So maybe your complainant has lived a simple easy life ? This one had a lighter tone than normal. In the last two days I have been forced out of a McDonald’s by staff rowing with each other in venomous stage whispers, had a coach driver risk my life on a cross-country diversion from the motorway (I have a D licence-I know what speed a 50ft bus should be doing on a winding B-road) and I have just left my shopping at the self-service counter at Sainsbury’s after being misused by three staff in a row. I was going to write to all three corporations but realised they are all just crap and they will bring themselves down. I shall sleep well knowing I don’t give a toss anymore. It is social media’s fault, btw, not Covid, though the social media misinformation then is very relevant.

Around 6 years ago l returned to the UK after being away for over 10 years. I realy understand what you are saying. The UK was not the place l left. No one wants to take responsibility for themselves or there actions, its always someone else's fault. The country has become a nanny state and complete control over everything you do. Unfortunately, l loved my country but now l want to leave again due to the way people are nowadays. By the way l am a male Baby Boomer and apparently its a my fault 🤔😇. I'd say you were a Gen X mate, same as me (I'm only a few years younger). I think there is something to be considered about the Boomers living through a period of great expansion, a time of plenty, spending an awful lot of theoretical "future money", and as you say "pulling up the ladder behind them". *This accusation does not apply to the entire boomer generation* So please, nobody shout at me. The "if you are not with us, you must be against us" thing has a lot to answer for as well.

Hi Darren, If going on a walk like that and in those wonderful conditions doesn't get it out of your system, then what could? Hope you're feeling better now. I'm from '65 but didn't think that would make me a baby boomer, the third of four, so maybe I am🤔🤔 I think it's part of the process of the move into the digital world, it's always much better to be able to speak to someone and often whatever problems arise can be sorted out amicably. It's often quite a task to get to speak to someone too, if you do try then its press 1 for something or other, press 2 etc, etc. Maybe that brings people impatience to the fore. I know it's the case with me with cold calls, I'm afraid I just don't give to them the time of day. Often we pick up the phone and there is no one there. Writing out a cheque!! gone are the days. I remember opening a bank account here and asking for one and I was told no one uses them, or trusts them, unless they are an official bank cheque. Do you still use them in the UK? Striding edge in those conditions sounds quite a challenge, I've done Crib Goch a couple of times, I don't think I would do it again!! What a fantastic place to just go for a walk. I'll tell you about my "Ruina montium" adventure another time (it even has a Wikipedia page). All the best.

I always remember listening to the top forty and my older sisters singing the chorus to "jilted John" (apparently it won the One Hit Wonder World Cup!!) I expect I joined in heartedly!! I never answered your questions specifically: - Age group. I think it won't be the elderly group, probably the mid range as the older generation would tend to want to speak to someone. And the younger generation would be stuck to there phone!! .... me too!! - Are people getting worse? I don't think so. I agree that people's behaviour has got worse but I don't necessarily think increased complaining about things is bad depending on the situation. Yes there is pettiness but there are plenty of genuinely reasonable grounds for complaint as crapness in the UK has been getting worse over the years, as though the can't-be-bothered attitude is being amplified. An example is inadequate staffing in businesses forcing you to take ever longer to get anything done, and frequent excuses for not addressing problems and making improvements, usually projecting back on the complainant and/or telling them they have to suck it up and deal with it. Where behaviour has got worse is general thoughtlessness, gormlessness, fannying about and inadequate self control. My home town has got more crowded with the house building over the years without a corresponding increase in space on the roads or public places, so it feels like people are more on top of each other now. This doesn't stop people from dilly dallying about at a quarter of my walking pace across the pavement, stopping in doorways, inattentional blindness from gawping at their phones, getting disproportinately angry, or even violent, over minor things (e.g. road rage), or just generally acting as if no-one else exists but them. One noticable irritant that has got worse in my observation is the number of badly trained dogs since the pandemic. I am neutral about dogs in general but I don't want your dog charging up to me, nearly knocking me over, and leaping up at me whilst you completely fail to call the dog back, and please, when using pavements, use some spatial awareness and don't consume the entire width of it if there are people around you wishing to pass whilst your dog is sniffing every square inch of the verge, and finally, hanging full poo bags on tree branches is not an acceptable way of disposing of them.

I had the very same thing happen to me a few weeks back when I was filming at Hadrian's Wall. Some dog walkers came along and both their dogs ran up to me barking quite ferociously. They didn't seem to like my monopod! The owners casually caught up with them and meekly called them off. No apology. Just, "they don't normally do that" - as though it was my fault! I won't go into the details of the incident I'm grumbling about in this video, but basically it was a completely unfair complaint, issued I believe, because the individual couldn't dictate the terms of a negotiation and couldn't deal with not being in charge. I get this a lot. They love to quote the laws of things like GDPR, but they haven't studied the law - they just assume it delivers what they want! Normal service will be resumed on Sunday! Thanks for watching and commenting.

Do you realise just how many views this one got in that very short time? Yes, granted, the scenery is lovely and everything, but compared to that well researched stuff you travel far for and spend so much effort on? KZbin is a funny old place! Or you might have just really hit a nerve here 😁

I know! No research, no content and a 10 minute drive from home! It’s almost as though the algorithm favours shallow videos! I half expected this to happen with this one. Titles with a question in them seem to be popular. An implication of something controversial too, perhaps?!

On the western side of Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales. You can park on Clapham Old Road and head up from there., above Cold Cotes. It’s a less frequented route up the mountain. Hope you get to check it out!

The truly ironic thing is that you put up a video to complain about other people complaining. Then you go on a rant and complain and complain and complain but one of your top complaints is that it's everybody else's complaints that's the real problem. And what kind of shelter is this that you go to looks like a pile of rocks to me. Any proper shelter over here on our side of the pond has a roof. Good day sir.

This content is aimed firmly at followers of the channel who will be familiar with the humour. It seems to have got out there a bit more than usual. But you are absolutely right, I have made a video about complainers, whilst complaining myself. That’s the intended irony, We do call these pathetic walled structures shelters over here! They shelter from the wind at least. Thank you for watching and commenting.
