I don’t think the inconsistent frame rate is related to heat. I think the game itself is just very cpu gpu demanding that it can’t maintain 120fps at certain places in the game. Maybe you should test again while the character is indoors.

I don't think the point of those coolers is to give a great boost in FPS. It's more about keeping temps lower in order to provide longer gaming sessions without throttling and by extension, increasing the phone's life expectancy.
@thebarbiter4644 Жыл бұрын
THIS. And it's super irritating how the dude's testing on the fly for the sake of a quick video, and not something planned ahead of time and given more time, so you're only going to get even MORE "disappointing" results!

@rafaelsalazar2728 Жыл бұрын
@@saywhat6585 ... Friend, it's one thing to BOOST/AUGMENT fps (not the purpose of these coolers), and another to MAINTAIN fps at a stable count by controlling hardware temps. There's definitely a software optimization issue going on. Pascal's Wager also exhibited the same weird 120-60fps fluctuation behavior. That's not due to thermal throttling, it's an issue that has to do with the game and how it interacts with ProMotion.

Phone cooler is effective for players who play long hours. If you play game for 10 minutes or an hour, you don't need it at all. So, the test is only valid if you tested for more than one hour. One hour is still too low though. More than 2 hours test is better imo. Also, most 120 fps games has problems so testing on 60 fps games is better for now. In my experience, I don't feel lag when I play with cooler. Of course, your phone must be able to handle the graphic first. If not, even phone cooler can't help.

Man this was a highly inaccurate video. It's a small cooler. All it does and IS SUPPOSED TO DO is keep the the battery and generally the phone somewhat cool. In the video, it's not even cooling the processor, but just the middle of the phone. In the cpu of a desktop, you cool the processor directly. That definitely does help with the performance. The main target of the cooler is to keep the battery healthy. I can say this because I use a phone cooler too (using one right at this moment of commenting). My previous phone dropped down to 77% health with intensive gaming sessions without the cooler for 2 years. And my current phone is at 94% with cooler on almost all the time, underwent similar gaming sessions as my previous phone, for nearly 2 years now. The numbers speak for themselves.
